Nice editing in the vid! I am wounded by both your words about UW control decks and your gameplay 😋 haha! Even so I appreciate you showing the gameplay of this one! Thanks!
Ha! I like grindy midrange and control decks like Grixis or Sultai, but there's something about Azorius that make me feel like a complete idiot while playing. I guess it's because you have to play perfect with so few win conditions, whereas decks like Sultai will often have big beatdown creatures that can make up for misplays for you. 🤣
@@AffinityforMTG yeah, I agree - sultai is pretty fun to pilot pretty much any way you build it. Plus this UW challenger deck is pretty watered down, as you noted in the vid. It definitely needs some upgrades to make it more fun to pilot.
When will the Upgrade guides be published? I will buy Mono Red Aggro and already want to buy the cards you recommend together with the deck. I love your recommendations 😊
I usually release them close to the release date. I'll probably do a "which deck should you buy?" style of video a few days before they are released, and then go straight into upgrade guides. :)
Once you play this deck and get to know it, its actually a great deck. Unfortunately I have been in those situations where I draw way too many lands when searching for a card, which could happen to any deck
Haha, yeah, I really like a lot of blue control decks, Simic Flash was my favorite deck last rotation, but I hate playing control decks that only have a few cards that can win the game. :P
@@AffinityforMTG you make a super valid point about the lack of win situations. I have been playing a blue sphinx control deck I got from cardkingdom and it has the same issue. The 4 sphinxs are the only way to win and they have a heavy mana curve. Your insight helps a lot in trying to figure out what kind of deck I like playing! Thanks!!
Hey I made some replacements for this deck by putting in an angel package (baneslayer, the foretell angel thingy) and by putting in an Kiora Bests the Sea God hexproof kraken saga. I furthermore added some behold the multiverses, scrapped the thirst for meaning cards because i don't want to discard my good enchantments anyway. I scrapped the skyclave clerics and added some banishing lights to up the removal power against enchantments/artifacts and to have more of an option to exile. Al in all it feels like a pretty strong control deck.
@@AffinityforMTG I also added a Realm Cloaked Giant (for the few months we got that one left). It's a slow card, but functions as a board sweeper and removal. Against Kaldheim it is of course a bit of a gamble. Against random opponents the chances of running into a giants deck are pretty low, but against your friends/ in the future at your LGS you can only pull that trick once or twice before you get called out on it. I am a bit hesitant on playing glass casket. I would rather keep my options open by playing the banishing lights. By the way, I love your channel, the upgrade guides you do and the gameplay. Have you considered trying to upload a MTG Arena draft? Could be fun. To be honest I am a bit surprised you don't have more viewers :)
It's so odd how all the control challenger decks have so few win conditions
Also super love the added in edits and clips!!
I was hoping to distract people from how bad I was playing. :P
You showed everyone the real potential downfalls of playing control decks. The loses help teach the most!
Ther plot fun twist at 15:31 broke me hard

Haha, this is excellent, very funny (and reflects how I generally feel about Control these days). On the plus side, you went first!
Finally! :P

@@AffinityforMTG Looking forward to both!
Mine didn’t come with a code so I unfortunately can’t use it online. Im currently figuring out how to use it.

Thanks for powering thru deck types you don't enjoy!!

Nice! Yeah, the deck feels like it needs more top-end threats, or more board sweepers to survive aggro decks. Glad it's working for you! :)

Will you be doing an upgrade guide as well? 'cause I'd love to have an azorius control deck but don't know how to upgrade this deck into one
Yep! I'll do the upgrade guides around the time of release. :)
Hi, I have a question about the challengers deck. I own azorius and I'm wondering if I can add the deck in arena like when I buy planeswalker decks?
You have to acquire the wildcards and get it that way. They don't give you credit for the physical cards.
Nooooooo, that counter u had there!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣, it's fine tho, we alll have mistakes 🤗😉😋
I hope no one watches this video. WHAT A DISASTER! 🤣
Too late 😃 just about to watch
Ahahahahhaha
Ok. I'll remove my "like" after I'm done watching 👍
