7/06/2024 -- Independence Weekend at OBVR - Matthew and Max

Old Bethpage Village Restoration celebrates the 4th of July on the adjacent weekend. There are activities, musicians, contra dancing, and the Village Brass Band. The time centers around the mid-1860s during the period of the Civil War. The day'shighlight is the traditional Parade. The villagers march to the town square accompanied by the brass band, the fire department, the town officials and the children holding onto streamers from "July" pole. All gather behind the Noon Inn to listen to the political speeches.
Among the musicians are Matthew and Max playing recorder, or guitar, banjo or concertina.
