Been there, done that! As you say, it’s right to know when to stop. Huge respect for your insights and massive contributions to helping so many people to appreciate the life and challenges of HGV driving. The company has been fortunate to have your services for seven years. Thank you for sharing so well …. very good luck in your next adventures! 🎉😊🎉

What dose HGV stand for? I am a Yank so over here in the states we call things a bit different.. This is the first video I seen of her and she looks like a regional driver going for a few days vs long haul that could be gone week or two...

@@jonathanbair523HGV = Heavy Goods Vehicle aka LGV = Large Goods Vehicle which is anything over 3500Kgs up to 44000Kgs and regulated by electronic tachograph recorders with data that has to be regularly downloaded; the individual driver's electronic tachograph card records the last 28-days data so that the authorities can interrogate it alongside the trucks to ensure that both the driver and truck adhere to all the regulations, no Log Books here! She's been 'tramping' which means she lives in her truck for up to two weeks at at time as our time management regulations are very stringent and mandate a maximum number of 90 driving hours over a rolling fortnight with mandatory rest breaks every 4.5 hours of driving and 6-hours of working time; it can be a bloody nightmare managing the various conflicting regulations!!. Although separate working time regulations mandate actual maximum work days with a minimum of three whole rest days usually away from the truck over that period. There are also a maximum number of working hours accumulated over a longer period of time before you must stop all work for an extended break of several days. HGV/LGV's have mandatory speed limiters fitted restricting speeds to 56mph/90kph which obviously limits range as the maximum daily driving hours are capped at 9-hours (although you can extend this to 10-hours twice a week within the overall total of 90-hours driving time per fortnight) the working time regulations mandate an absolute maximum daily work shift of 15-hours. Distances within the UK are much smaller than the USA although average speeds are also lower due to significant traffic congestion. For example today's video shows Jemma travelling along one of the main arterial Motorways (Freeways) North -South within the UK which took her 5.5 hours to cover approximately 185-miles, so an average speed of only 34mph!!! She's driving the largest HGV/LGV Artic (Semi) truck normally permissible on UK roads without dedicated escorts and exemption permits for over size loads. This is only a brief overview and the various regulations have too many nuances to detail here but hope it answers your query satisfactorily!!!

Cat and other animal scarers that work. I used a 'water animal scarers for gardens' from Amazon. I used it and all animals no longer used my lawn or garden. The one I bought was battery powered and adjustable to ensure only the area I wanted to detect from caused the thing to trigger, and separately the sprayed area could also be set to only cover the areas I wanted the water to hit. It also waters the garden very well.

Hi Jemma. Strong curry powder sprinkled on soil is a great deterrent for cats. First time I used it on my garden, I didn't have much hope, having tried loads of things, but after seeing a cat walk across it , lick its paws and leap 5 feet in the air , run off and never come back , I recommend .
Replace after rain for a few days .

To keep cats, and dogs off, try a detox and water mix, just sprinkle around every week or so, they will learn a new habit and place, they don’t like the smell.

All the best in your new job Jemma, whatever your doing. Hopefully another hgv job that allows you to film. A change is as good as a rest. Bulk tipping is a tough job, my dad does the same work as you, its such an important job, but can be very full on and tiring. Hopefully you can spend some more time with your family.

Cat poo- spray deep heat onto some used (dry ish) tea bags and place near where the cat pooes.- they hate the smell and it works, it’s also safe. Some say lion poo works (they sell at the zoo for this reason)

What a great loss to Wain's ,they should do all they can to keep you, good driver's are still hard to come by , Royal Mail Exeter are currently recruiting for trucking, I did it for 21 years good clean work, easy and good money and many benefits, normally a few women driver's around too ,it would be so easy for you and I can give you a contact number .
Best wishes for the future and good luck in whatever you decide to do, Hope to see you again soon .

For your garden put fishing line along the top of the fence. And get pepper spray from a farm shop to put in the garden the cats hate the agricultural stuff

Problem with vinegar is that it’ll kill whatever is trying to grow. It’s used widely as an organic weed killer

I had the same problem with cat's pooping on my lawn and like you i had tried everything and the one thing that 100% worked for me was curry powder. You can buy big 1kg bag's for every cheap money and get the hottest one you can find and just spread it all over the area that it's pooping on. It just work's a treat. XX

Hope we get to see you in whatever you do next. Wains don't seem a bad employer but the job/hours/physical work can take its toll and you're more than capable of doing something better - hope you're not a loss to the trucking industry. Two weeks notice period sounds a bit short but maybe that's the industry norm.

    Brilliant Jemma.
I thought last Christmas that things weren't going well, and when you went to Devon truck show and they all left you.
I'm sure you won't take long to find another company, you are well known, and an excellent driver.
If I had a truck company you would be top of my list.
I will miss your videos 😢.
Thanks so much Jemma take care of yourself, best wishes.

Looking forward to seeing what you get up to in the future Jem! I'm sure the coffee grounds will stop the cats crapping in your garden, it's what we use after trying pretty much everything else, and it's good for the soil. We also use it to break down stuff in the compost bins, our own compost is now better than anything we've bought previously.
