"THEY" are listening. ALWAYS... We will never know just who "THEY" are, but 'THEY" are always there. This is proof positive that BIG BROTHER sees, hears and knows everything that WE are doing.....
I drove 2 1/2 ton truck for 2 years in the Army. Hauled rations from Hilo Hi to Poaculoa. That engine was a tough son of a gun. I think it was a 270. All I know for sure it was a 1953 with a GMC engine. The weak point was the automatic tranny. 2 speed high and low range. With a full load going up Monakea volcano. Forgot how to spell it top speed was about 5 mph.in low range. The engine couldn't handle high range. There was a place to pull over about half way up. The exhaust manifold would be cherry red. 1959 and 1960 when I was trying to climb the ramp into the LST the tranny was slipping. They left me on the beach. When they came back the tranny had cooled off and it went up the ramp. When I went into the Army national Guard they asked if I could drive a 5 ton. The sarge said you will be driving that one. It was a multi fuel. Never been in one.
Awesome story Ralph, you had a 'gravy train' of a duty station to have been post in HI. I know the truck you're talking about. Did it have 10 wheels or only 6 wheels? If 10, then it was an M-211. Kinda sluggish and the Hydra-Matic transmission is prone to issues if not properly adjusted, so I have read.
Usually those overdrive transmissions have that reversed shift pattern with high gear being up. It's the easiest way to do it because the power has to flow through the counter shaft to get the overdrive. 240 horsepower is pretty respectable out of 270 cubic inches considering those engines don't rev very high. I'm just kind of curious I wonder if an LS would swap in there without a whole lot of problem. Do you think the engine compartment is wide enough?
Good question Joe. Yes a Chevy V-8 will fit into the engine bay. I installed a '95 5.7 with a 700R4 behind it into a C.C.K.W. back in 2009 for a friend. There was quite the domino effect that followed with the radiator, trans. cooler, shifter linkages, control pedals and more. I will not do it again. The biggest problem the truck faces is that it won't go much faster than 65 M.'s P. H., due to the ring and pinion ratio being 6.67 to 1. Then the W.W. 2 originality is lost with building a resto-mod like this.
@@w.w.2restorations.vehicles698 Personally I don't think I would do an LS swap, but I was just curious. LS motors are plentiful and cheap anymore, and the stove bolt Chevy 6, or GMC 270/302 are getting kind of rare. A diesel swap would be very nice, but you'd never make it work with this 6.67 gears, you'd end up spending a fortune
@@w.w.2restorations.vehicles698 By the way I appreciate you showing the serial number location and that the 270 starts with 270. We are supposed to have one coming in in a junk truck that is either a 270 or a 305. Now I can look like a genius and identify it
Hi Brent, no the tires are 8.25 X 20's. The correct size tire for this truck is 7.50 X 20. They are on the correct wheel for the 9.00 X 20's though. You can hear/see my explanation in this video. ua-cam.com/video/IRoYuSafXMk/v-deo.html...
Funny, we were just talking about this and then the video popped up in my recommendations...

Good job, I love american traditions
Thanks Robert, you're awesome for saying. Where is you're family heritage from? Just so I don't guess wrong.

@@joecummings1260 LOL!! Good on ya, Joe. The next largest displacement is 302. So those will be the first three numbers on the pad in the junk truck.
Did i miss the tire size? Are they the usual m35a2 9-20s?

Why hide serial number
Why do YOU need to see it.
Это американский Газон.😂
