That's one look at the Autobahn I never thought I needed to see! It almost looks original, but I still prefer the actual rainy Autobahn. The atmosphere on that track has its own vibe.
I found a copy of this on eBay and got it running last week on Windows 10. Played the game for hundreds of hours as a teenager, and it's probably the reason I own a Porsche today. The game is EXACTLY how i remember it from 20.years ago, and it's just as awesome now. Actually, may be even more, since it can be played with a controller (or wheel, but haven't gotten that far).
@@michaellong2661 It's really those egg-shaped headlamps that it shared with the 911 at the time. Boxster was the first car I remember driving, cause I liked convertibles.
the engine sound is so realistic even its and old game. Those who played this game back in 2000s were lucky to taste real car driving experience on their seats.
I remember taking a file with GT1 data, copying it, and renaming into 911 turbo data file. Then you had basically a GT1 in a skin of 911 Turbo, but with all tuning parts available. Normally GT1 had no tuning available. After the file swap and upgrades, the 911 was going 350kph through half of the zone industrielle. At some point I've renamed all the files in the game, which had little sense, but I did it anyways :)
Great ride clean and precise. I llove this game so bad, and mods like this make games so much more full of interesting aspects, although it's only the hills having color of the sun rising and the street lights being on. Especially mostly 'old' games with an atmosphere like this not having overloaded hud's or streets like new NFS or Forza become much more attractive. Just imagining Alps at night with rainy and snowy weather... oh mighty lord😂 Morning/ Day/ Evening/ Night time and Sunny/ Rainy/ Cloudy/ Foggy/ Snowy/ Stormy weather for all tracks..
(sorry if this has been asked a million times) but how did you rig it to work on a modern system? I've tried many popular ways, might be because I'm on Win 11 instead of 10?
When I get back from vacation in a couple of weeks, I may create a tutorial video. For Windows 10, I installed the game from the official CD, installed the latest game patch, and setup the game to run with nGlide for graphics. If these things don't work, maybe try installing the game to anywhere other than a "Program Files" folder. Also, installing the game with Windows 98/XP compatibility settings might help (set compatibility for the "setup" file, not the "autorun" file). For nGlide, you may need to manually change the game's registry settings to work with "Voodoo2."
You need to make a tutorial on how to switch time of day and weather on these tracks. I saw one of your comments say change the files around but which ones?
My favourite NFS, alongside NFS4 for PS, both developed by the same studio(EA Canada). Gave up trying to install it as coud never make it work nowdays...
Which OS are you running? I'm using Windows 10. For me, I basically just installed the game from the CD, installed the latest game patch, and setup the game to work with nGlide for the graphics. I don't think I did much else for it to work, if anything.
@@ivanpuskaric6851 Alright. After you install nGlide, you may need to go into Regedit and manually switch the graphics to Glide. In Regedit, for the game settings, "Group" should be set to "Glide" and "Thrash Driver" should be set to "Voodoo2."
@Mehdi PS1 NFS4 and PC NFS4 seem similar to me (I own both of them). PS1 NFS5 and PC NFS5 are definitely very different games though. Personally, I think PC NFS4 is better than PS1 NFS4, but that's my opinion.
I don't recall seeing one. Track lighting information appears to be stored in the geometry files, so I don't know how a night mod could be made for this game. The closest might be altering the sky and weather to look more like night time.
no actually the ps1 and ps2 games looked very bad in comparison to the pc version, this nfs is def a hidden gem that lives inn the shadow of most wanted and ug2
I think I sort of see what you mean in terms of the overall "look." However, the PS2 did not support 4K. EA games on the PC were playable in 1200p as far back as 1997 (I played them when they were brand new). I know for sure NFS4 supported HD resolutions from its release, and I'm pretty sure that NFSIII did too.

I remember that game. And the original NFS from 1994. Good memories.
I still have the original discs from the store and play both games sometimes. I find it amazing that both games still work great on modern PCs.
literally the most powerful turbo in the game, it can even outrun 911 gt1

This is on the lowest settings, the game looked better back in the day but the high car detail setting doesn't work on modern PCs for some reason.
@@saabrejsarN you need to get the CPU fix and then the high settings work again. It's a known issue with this game running on CPUs faster than 1GHz
