Don't forget to set your pad Midi Channel to 2 and Keyboard midi channel to 1 while in the mpk editor. I did not specify this in the video.

So I did everything from the beginning but when I opened up FPC and Harmor only one of my pads work and it plays the Harmor sound instead of the FPC. But none of my keys work at all.

tip: to get knobs working with fl studio all u have to do is right click an effect or whatever you want to pair with knobs, (filters, pan, reverb etc..) click ''link to controler'' and then move a knob on mpk and it will automaticaly sync.. simple af, and u can use this for everything in almost all vsts (if not all of them)

Preciate the help bro anyone having troubles with the keys going to the drums vice versa make sure you have them in order on your pattern with the fpc below harmor since the drum pad was sent to 2 and not 1

For Anyone still struggling with the Key and
Drumpads being seperate even after all of these helpful comments, Before you do anything go to your options tab in the editor, select device setup and ONLY select the Midi controller as your OUTPUT, then hit "apply." Some people make it seem like you need to select both. This prevents your Editor from crashing.
I tried the tutorial a billion times and your suggestion, and I still can't make them seperate. Please help!
The options tab in the akai mpk editor software that comes with your controller. This is only applicable if you're using the akai mpk mini or a similar akai device.

In the MPKMINI Mk2 Editor, set the "Pad MIDI Channel" to 2 and the "Keybed / Controls MIDI Channel" to 1.

Ima be honest I've never used Fl yet and i wanna buy a midi to get into making beats but watching ths first 5 minutes i have no idea wtf is going on and ive never felt so depressed and disapointed in ny life
I feel ya man, when i first started out it was a little overwhelming and seemed like a lot. And to be honest there is a lot to learn but that is also the beauty of it. It allows every artist to stand apart from each other but still work to help each other out. If you think you will enjoy making beats it might be a good investment to start you out. Or you could just start with the FL studios demo. It's all up to you and what you make of it man and what you think you will get out of it. You have unlimited untapped potential my brother!

Lol same here fam. It's overwhelming as hell but don't give up. I've never used FL or anything related to midis and it's hell. Buuut I've played guitar for a few years and I felt exactly the same at the start. It gets better pretty fast.
Imagine if you bought the stuff and then realized you couldnt use it..many try few succeed its why it pays well..but if you dedicate yourself to learn you will...setbacks up until now i couldnt afford the right gear..one laptop wouldnt have enough memory another didnt have enough usb space you gotta build experience and then talent kicks in..
If your just gonna use FL studio don't bother getting a midi. You can just use your keyboard as a midi.
Okay so I figured this out. For anyone watching this and you feel lost, here's what to do.
*THIS IS OF YOU HAVE AN MPK MINI*
So first, make sure that FL Studio is closed. See when he showed the Mini Editor and told you to copy everything? *Make sure that under each option under Bank A and Bank B look exactly like his.* Next, follow the video. Go to the midi options, *Make sure you output is set to Mpk Mini.*
*THIS NEXT STEP IS IMPORTANT*
So, go to the side where you see *PROGRAM 1.*
Click *GET*
Go to the bottom of the midi editor and you'll see two boxes where numbers are. Both are set to 1. *Change the Pad Midi channel to 2.* then *Change the Keyboard/Controller Midi Channel to 2*
*GO BACK TO PROGRAM ONE AND PRESS SEND.*
*_THEN PRESS SEND TO RAM_*
Now, open FL studio and select Harmor and FPC. Now left click one and right click the other. Now try what he says. It should work! Best of luck!!!!

for Everyone who is struggling with Keys and Pads, where they both do the same thing.
If you go to your MPK Editor. bottom left you have Pad Mi... and Keyboard...
change the number for Pad from 1 to 2. and send again. it will fix it. it fixed my problem

I was watching this video because I thought I was going to get an AKAI. I dont even have an AKAI but this helped me so much with learning about Midi ports and syncing. I did this for my Alesis V25 & V49 I bought instead. Now making beats is going to be much more creative for myself being able to play the keys and finger bang the drums. Or just being able to bang on the drums and someone on keys for a collaborative project. Thank you big time man. I just subscribed & liked your video. Great content!

Does this editor work for the akai mini mk1 as well? Or is the editor different for that?
But if the drumline is on one pattern u can't mix it down now using the mk Mimi 2 how can u play out the drumline but have it all on it's own channel and patterns please explain to me?

Can you please play back your quantized version of the ending of the video? I am curious to see if FL Studio is in synch with the MPK Mini or not. I was having trouble with this with the Arturia Keystep and was very disappointed.

I know this is a noob question... but do the keyboard and audio interface, which I need for my mic, both get a usb to the computer? So two USB ports used simultaneously ? I shouldn’t be connecting my midi to my audio interface right? I have a Scarlett 2i2 gen 3
When i hit a key on my piano or drum pad the velocity is different? any ideas on how to have them be the same velocity while hitting the drum pads/piano keys?
can I also use a normal kick and snare and hihat and drums (not like FPC) on my drumpad?
if i use my mpk and do my drums and keys all together how do i separate them in the on channel meaning claps by the selves kicks by them selves and etc.

Hi, I'm not seeing anything in either the input or output sections of the midi settings in FL studio. In addition, the enable option for input is greyed out. Please help as I've looked everywhere online and can't seem to find a fix to this.
I just downloaded the editor from the akai web site and it looks different than on here. There's no "send to ram" button. Would "save preset" do the same thing?

the SYNC symbol isnt lighting up for me n whenever i press on a key it wont play anything, so im assuming like how do i get my SYNC symbol to light up on the midi settings?
If you still experiencing the key & drum pad problems this should be the solution. FL Studio reads the Channel from top to bottom. So if you have FPC as 1, it should be first on the channel rack, & harmor should be under it because it's channel 2. And Vice Versa. You're all welcome.

I'm usinf FL 12 and my mkii mini is being detected it's just assigned to random buttons like one of the keys starts the metronome etc, what do I do? I followed the vid up to when you start using it to make sounds as it just doesn't work.
Im looking to start creating beats and etc is it necessary i have a Mac or could i still use an HP computer?
you can use any computer you want ^^ its all about what you prefer for your workflow. Personally I use an HP laptop for a majority of my beat creation :)

Hey man im not being able to use both of them at the same time. I mean i had one harmor on one and fpc on another, and its either The drum on both pad and keys or the harmor on both pads and keys. Any solution??????

Is fl studio included in the list of softwares you can download after buying the keyboard (like MPC Essentials, Hybrid, and Wobble)?
Unfortunately no it is not. But they do have an expansive free demo you can download from their website and try it out to decide if you want to purchase it later! I really want to try to strike up a deal with Image-Line (they make FL studio) to offer it to my subscribers at a discount.

Was able to assign the drum pads and use it! Although my Keys doesn't work even after setting it to 1. I'm using the old version though, FL studio 9 and I have no Harmor, can you recommend another plugin instead and how to make my keys work? Thanks!
Yeah! You should try "3x Osc" or Harmless, i believe these are in many of the FL Studios versions of the past and the newest one. They are a little less friendly but if you understand sound design or take time to mess with them, you can get some good sounds ^^
