I don't own the copyrghts, copyright belong to Warner Bros. & Malpaso. This is a fan made edit.I 've done some rework to it. I'm a fan of this movie, especially the fight scenes. All of the original soundtrack is gone. I hope you enjoy it.
When I first watched that back when I was a kid that was the coolest movie ever
Wanted to see it so badly but couldn't afford it and read the book instead.

I still do.

To this day if someone has trouble loading a website with the Firefox browser, I'll always ask 'Have you tried thinking in Russian?'
😅🤣😂 classic!!
@@justinavery8664 I always use Firefox and with no problem, I guess I can think in Russian.
Excellent! What a movie! And what a line!!
Yeah 😁😁
"Don't think in English and transpose"
Let's be honest here , that plane looks bad ass even today
Inspired by SR71 i guess
I’m sure there was some inspiration from that. But look at the Mig 31, what do you think?
It's too chunky to my eye, but the vague idea of what the lines of the craft should be are good looking. It's showed up in some form in the game Ace Combat, in at least the 7th and most recent game.
@@klausstohr4733 Try blending the A71[the sr's missile armed sister] with the XB-70 Valkyrie. This firefox is pretty close to what you get.
John Dykstra of the original "Star Wars" helmed the visual effects. He and his team did a great job!
As a kid I watched this movie on the air base with my best friend, I was enthralled. Got home and was telling my dad about it, we go hang out with some of his buddies who were fighter pilots who giggled and said it was entertaining.
They giggled? Hard to believe that. Today's US woke military, sure I'd believe they giggle but not 40 years ago.
They giggle cause thats not how planes work

Was thinking about you dad , this movie clip appeared on my phone ....thanks for everything
Love you frank
Such an underrated film

In reality the Russians built some incredible planes during the Cold War. The Firefox deign still looks cool today.
the theoretical concepts coming out of the USSR during the 1960-70s were incredible. unfortunately, because of the way things were done, most of them didn't work. a lot of the things the USA built were based on Soviet designs. the Soviet leadership seemed to be obsessed with size, and never seemed to care whether or not it could do the job it was made for!
@@leeeastwood6368 They were obsessed with size because they had little peckers.
@@leeeastwood6368 The F86 flew before the Mig 15 and the F15 flew years before the MiG 29 so I don't know what you are referring to
@@jakelakota3010 He’s just making shit up, like 99% of UA-camrs do. The only thing we know for sure that the US took from the USSR is mathematical basis of the F117’s stealth tech. Ben Rich explains in his book “Skunk Works” how the Skunkworks engineer who invented stealth tech found an article in an aerospace engineering journal by a Russian engineer on how fighter nose cones could be shaped to better enable the radar housed inside to pass through them more accurately with less distortion. He realized that info could also be used to deflect or degrade radar bouncing off a specially shaped aircraft, and went on to design and build the F-117 with it.
@@5133937 Whomever the producers consulted for the design of the movie Mig 31 (in the novel it was real life Mig 31) must have had some involvement with the real Skunkwork because the movie plane has some realistic stealth concepts like the faceted nose and internal missle bays.
Remember watching this as a kid. It felt like a proper adult type film. Loved it and still love it. Awesome plane.
Working for the Soviets, working for Darth Vader.... that guy @1:09 doesn't have much luck :)

Cheap antisoviet film. Americans, dollar must be red of blood Syria, Iraq, Libya children.

Admiral Piett...
He gives the same look when he lets the firefox and the millennium falcon escape
The scene where he walks across the front of the hanger and sees Firefox for the first time … I could happily just watch that on repeat 😂.. goosebumps
i love the look on the colonel's face as the aircraft was being stolen just as the first secretary pulls up in his limo.. colonel was most likely either executed or sent to the gulags for incompetence..
Hahahaha! Go to gulag.
He was sent to gulag, but he won and was sent back to the fight.

The audio mix was outstanding. And I heard it on quality phones.
First saw this movie in '87 at the age of 6, i was in awe it was soooo cool to me😎😎😎 bought it on dvd in 2003.
Are used to make this airplane out of clay when I was a kid. This is definitely my favorite plane, second to none! The next favorite of course would be the SR 71. Which makes the SR 71 my favorite because this plane isn’t real!
Yeah,SR71 BLACKBIRD the fastest plane ever built😀
I love this movie and as a teenager remember play the game in the arcades at the time.
The arcade game was a killer. In the 80s it was somehting else. I played it and loved it too.
@@telzer Yeah it was a video disk game right? With the HUD overlayed onto real flight footage. Really cool for its time.
The movie is based on the book of the same name by Craig Thomas, which I recommend reading. Mitchel Gant's story continues in the sequels _Firefox Down_ , _Winter Hawk_ , and _A Different War_ .
Firefox Down is a really good story, in some ways even better.
I read the book Firefox down. He doesn't make it back with the plane. It goes down and sinks to the bottom of a lake.
@@dwaynemorash I won't give the rest away, but the story doesn't quite end there.
@@dotdashdotdash I read the book also. It's interesting as Thomas started the book saying in the original book the Firefox was destroyed, but the book assumes it follows the movie.
"So how was your day honey,?" "Oh, you know, stole a Soviet aircraft worth billions of Rubles, dodged their best pilot, landed on an ice shelf, landed successfully " . ......" How was your day?"
One of the coolest scenes and movie ever.
Great song choice. Reminds me of Blade Runner. I did something like this a while ago. I used the song "Summer Song" by Joe Satriani. Of course, I just muted the film and put the song over it since I don't have the skills to rebuild all the other sounds lol.
Thanks. I just tried something with my keyboard. My aim was to get that John Carpenter sound, especially in the beginning. The soundtrack is a mixture of stock and self made sounds. All music is mine. It was fun to make. I have new clips of Firefox coming later.
You have failed me for the last time. Comrade Piett
Maybe after the success of Top Gun Maverick we'll see a resurgence of interest in a Firefox sequel or remake.
This film and blue thunder, brilliant. 👍
Blue Thunder is a classic.
Blue Thunder. Roy Scheider was perfect for that role.
I would love it if someone took all the CGI footage and brought it up to date, much like they did when they release Star Trek on DVD. The movie is so good it just needs better and realistic CGI to make it an absolute classic.
In those days there was no CGI. It was Blue-screen background tech. I understand what you mean tho. The effects in the film are a good template for updating.
@@paulglover6525 The model shots were good but the compositing wasn't great. The afterburners also looked weird, like a propane flame, compared to the strong orange or even blue flame cone from a Tu-22M.
Best bet? Have someone make a DCS or MSFS 2020 mod of this aircraft with the same external quality as the Heatblur F-14 add on, and then use whatever modern VFX software available. Most of the rendering difficulty (lighting, speculiar, etc) would have been done by the game/sim graphics engine...
Hollywood remake
Even in 2021 this movie rocks! "Eat this"
Yes it was a very cool movie
Dude, that movie was amazing!
It's still a solid and enjoyable film, even if we now know that the premise that the Soviets could field advanced avionics like this in the early 1980's is patently ludicrous. (Awesome looking place, though.)
I saw this as a kid zillions of times
One of eastwood best movies I love this film

Its been ten years since i read this story in a book i love it.
I miss the Cold War. We knew who our enemies were. Today, our enemies are people behind the scenes pulling the strings. Nothing is what it seems to be.
Boom. We can all feel the strings being pulled, but we cant see who is pulling them.
And to think all this hysteria paved the way for the greatest fighter ever - the F-15 Eagle!
Yes, very good. But you have to understand that, at that time, there was concern that the Soviets were building aircraft that were vastly technologically superior to American aircraft. Principally, the MiG-25. That hysteria was the inspiration for the story of this movie. But it turned out to be just the opposite.
Yes indeed I get that. What I am saying is this story was inspired from 1960s-era paranoia about Soviet aircraft technology that never materialized.
Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
Espectacular escena para aquella época... Thank you Clint....
When this movie came out, I was in the USAF and assigned to the F-117 stealth fighter project. Apparently the Firefox looked enough like the F-117 Nighthawk that our intelligence people were working overtime to make sure nothing got out about our aircraft. Personally, I didn't think they looked much alike at all.
Just rewatched the movie about a month ago. Still great
They do and they don't.
The overall aircraft looks nothing like an F-117, but if you look at the sharp angles and ultra-smooth surface, it's similar. Completely unique at the time, as well as being two of the exact features that give the plane its stealth properties. I believe you when you say there was a little concern
...Oh yes!!! I was 11 or 12 first time i watched it during the 80s on public tv...cold war influenced everything those days..
Hardly ever comment, but you did an awesome job!! My fav part though was his spinout scene great stuff!!!

The title of the sequel novel is "Firefox Down ".
@@lynwilliamson886 By Craig Thomas, if I recall correctly. But Firefox spends most if the novel at the bottom of a lake. They should make a movie out of it, maybe starring Eastwood's son, Scott. But overhaul the story so there's more Firefox action.
@@mroctober3657 I was thinking a remake (modern adaptation) would change from the USSR, to the People's Republic of China.
@@lynwilliamson886 Probably wouldn't happen as any movie critical of China means no distribution in that region.
I remember watched this movie when I was 14 years old. Probably this was the first movie for me dealing with an international conspiracy and contained suspenseful espionage that took the stage during the cold war period. The design of Mig 31 Firefox so incredibly came to real and solid that grasped my heart. The design itself might cause resistance and distracts aerodynamically when it accelerates to the top speed of Mach 6 however, the sense of wonder really won over the reality. Moreover, the how it took shape of this bird didn't look like any conventional Soviet-made fighter jets, nor the American made as well. I could say it looks more like European-made jets such as the external features are mainly consisted of large delta wings with canards in forward. I also noticed there was no HUD in the cockpit though, all flight data and symbolization could be shown directly on the canopy. The helmet might be equipped with the Helmet Mounted Display System which incorporates a thought-controlled device and other high-tech gadgets. These features are not depicted in the movie though, we aviation enthusiasts and fighter jets fanatics spread our minds to speculate how things may work to be functional and more effective whether the filmmakers thought about it or not. When it comes to the design of the plane, the Mig 31 Firefox has various ways of appearance such as being heroic and demonic (2:11) especially the counterpart of the Mig 31 emerged on the screen, on chase Mitchell Gunt to hunt down. I should say the filmmakers did a great work to let portray a single fictional fighter jet to have two different characteristics. I was still drawn to the last scene of the film, the Firefox flew into the Sunset. It is a great movie.
Umderrated film! Amazing!
G-Force has left the chat!
Physics has left the chat!
A great movie, back then, and now

This was an amazing film, I wish Clint had made the follow up as well.
The author of Firefox wrote a 2nd novel: Fire Fox Down 📙. It was popular but not a film.
I think a modern remake would be awesome, with a follow-up by the sequel Firefox Down.
No the kid I always loved this movie. Love watching it with my grandfather as well.

Looks like Russia was light-years ahead of us in this movie. So glad Eastwood is on our side...
Why would you take away the different turbine starting sounds? I always loved the engine build up coming to life. Reminded me of Star Wars Millennium Falcon. Would love to hear an enhanced version of the original sounds with perhaps some additional beeps and clicks of the computers etc. Perhaps even a different futuristic engine sound mixed with the jet engine sound

There was an arcade game of this movie as well. Back in the day before consoles and pcs.
Really? Sounds awesome I've never heard of it. Afterburner was an awesome video game at the arcades. Especially the sit-down one. Afterburner and Street Fighter II.
Never cared for the film. In that same era, I attended a seminar for an engineering class about Russian technology and the Comparison of American Technology. There were discussions about nuclear subs. The Russians used plywood for structure Or other material with no proper shielding from the reactor. There were also discussions about the circuitboard technology of Russia. in that era, simple circuits on a chipboard compared to a multi story composite board. At the time the Americans had nuclear weapons that were very accurate while the Russians had a ton of nuclear weapons, in hopes that they hit their targets. This movie had a message. And i wonder who was this message for.
But the jet looked just like the Mig and the movie was filmed before Americans knew what a Mig was.
Meh there was a method to their way of thinking especially with their circuit boards using Valves because they were resistant to EMPs. The Soviets wanted cheap and reliable over expensive and complex. It was tried and tested and had worked for them in the Great Patriotic War.
Cool music but devastated not to hear the Firefox startup sounds ☹️
