Thanks, Steve! I appreciate you bringing my hack to your followers! One thing I failed to tell you, I taped one layer of bubble wrap around the base of my holder to snug it up into the kayak tube. This will wear out over 6 or 7 trips, but you simply replace with new bubble wrap. Or, use whatever material you have on hand. Twisting is easy, but pulling the holder out of the tube vertically takes more force.

Great idea... I am in the process of building one for my son and have a question about the pipe coming out of the Kayak. How long should this piece be or is it the dealer's choice, it looks to be about 2 feet?

Now this is slick! Apparently I am an unimaginative person. I fish a lot on smaller streams where the trees overhang and I'm continually having to extricate my rod tips. Now if I can find a plumbing store with curbside pickup!

Great, you can carry around a few of my extra rods around for me when we get to fish together again in Spring of 2023.

I am done with this stay at home. 77 cased in our county vs a population of 235,000. Give me a break.

That gave me a good idea on how to make rod holder's for suspend drift fishing for catfish using the flush mounts rod holder's in the back thanks for sharing

Cool hack 👍. If it ever warms up around here the grandson and I will be on the water. Woke up to 30º temp and heavy frost this morning...in mid-April ! 😨

During quarantine people tend to mess around with their rods more.

Very cool idea. One thing I would do is put velcro on them to eliminate any chance of your rod falling out. I'm in the process of making kayak stabilizers out of adjustable flagpole holders a pair of crutches & crab floats.

Dang, that's pretty slick. I was trying to come up with something a little more low profile. Went under a railroad trestle the other week and had to take all my rods, not, and anchor light down to get under. Big pain in the rear. Thanks for sharing.

Cool idea n great info . On your unglued joints and slip ons as long as nothing goes in them ..I drill n pin them in various positions with a removable cotter key on a string . That way they are adjustable and won’t slip or vibrate out .set the hook brother

Great point - even sticking a wire through would work.

This is great for spinning rods, but what about a holder for fly rods? Great video by the way.

Tougher with the reel at the end of the rod... I'll have to think about that one.

I heat the end of my tubes with a Han torch and slip them over a beer bottle to make them flared.

Maybe a length of paracord tied from the rod insertion end of the top tube to you seat. Might lessen the amount you have to twist your body by letting you pull on the rope to bring it around to you, or at least within more comfortable reach. :)

Steve, a little off topic, but you mentioned in a previous video about a kayak fishing club you were a part of in Wilimington. I'm a retired military guy getting into kayak fishing and we recently moved into town. Do you have any info you can share on that club? Thanks. Erik

Sure. The free to join NCKFA (North Carolina Kayak Fishing Association) meets monthly on the first Wednesday at 1830. The meetings alternate between Great Outdoor Provision and Hook Line and Paddle. Send me your email and I will ask them to put you on the notification list (steve at kayakhacks.com). Right now, with the virus, all meetings are cancelled. www.nckfa.com/

The quarantine blocked fishing?? That's all people in Kentucky and Ohio do when under quarantine.

How did you get it to rotate? Pvc usually fits tightly

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  4 роки тому

On the internal rod holders, the 1" PVC was pretty loose. You could go to 3/4" if yours are smaller - but I would not put as many rods on 3/4 since it would probably flex.
