Thanks for the tips, I just subscribed to your Chanel, I'm a proud owner of a 1986 Fiero GT, I absolutely love everything about these cars, I'll catch up with you on Facebook as well, Looking forward to purchasing a shirt with the orange Fiero logo!!! Great Chanel, Happy Holidays
Thanks for the words of inspiration. I changed my plugs and wires yesterday on my 85 and took it for a spin. Everything was great for the first 10 miles until it died on the interstate and I took a 2.5-mile walk of shame. Still will not turn over, but I will keep at it.
Brian Lang I’ve walked that walk. 😬 when you say it won’t turn over does that mean the engine won’t crank? Or will it not fire?
@@wingedhorsegarage473 The engine will not crank. I got the firing order right but that is about all I know.
Brian Lang If your engine turns over but doesn’t fire you need to test for spark.
It’s probably your ignition control module.
@@wingedhorsegarage473 Thanks I appreciate the help. I am a novice to wrench turning. Everything I know up to now is what has been passed along from helpful enthusiasts such as yourself.
Check the wiring that lives close to the battery, there is a terminal block there that has a heavy gauge wire that can be loose and without it you’ll get a no crank, and no crank means no start obviously. I’m trying to envision what might have stalled the motor to begin with. If I had to take a wild guess, gosh so many ways it could go. I would check the plugs and see how they look, are they nice and tan like they should be or are they white indicating a lean or black indicating oil fouling? Check that and then get a digital multimeter and start checking voltages at the battery and then down the line to the starter. It could also be your ignition switch, or control module. Just start off with the plugs, take em out and see how they look. Then check for 12volts at the battery and at the starter with someone turning the key to start position. And you did have oil in the motor correct? How does the oil look? Is it normal looking or milky maybe indicating oil and coolant have mixed from something like a blown head gasket? Let us know what you find and come back here for more help. I realize the comment is old, and this isn’t my page but I’m just trying to help.@@brianlang5482
I was just thinking the same thing today working on mine like wtf is there supposed to be a line here?😂
Glad u found that vacuum leak, great job!👍 I've got an older cell so she's slowen down more everyday. Definitely got to get a 5g! Its probably summer where yor at now. Im down in fla, got a86 gt thats sat for a year an a88 formula that sat for like 15years. Was gonna wrk on them when i finally retired. Unfortunately got a rotator cuff issue, so removing that cracked spark plug u had would have been impossible for me. Im 65 now but feel like 85. Stay healthy an if i ever get that 5g i will try that Facebook thing. Keep us all posted on your fiero!✌
That line you're asking about is a recall. They removed whatever what was attached don't worry about it
It looks like extra air flow too me man thats 10 extra horse power lmao!
Thanks I'd love the fiero Always wanted a fiero just little fear have one.
I watched this again. Thank you for the shout out
I love looking at close ups of the 2.8l V6
Dr.Schmecklesberg Klitnick It is a sweet little engine .
It’s so nice out right now. I wish mine weren’t in storage. 😢 I think I’m going to paint my Indy Fiero myself. Never had a spark plug issue like that. Easy outs are a life saver! 👍
Rear Engine Shop It’s really nice out ! 60’s all this week. Yes I figure I’ve got nothing to lose . If I paint it myself and it’s bad I’ll just have it repainted .
Rear Engine Shop I’ve never had a plug break like that either. I was freaking out and then that high idle sent me over the edge ! Lol
Hey good sir really enjoying the Fiero videos!! That metal tube going into the air filter box was something discontinued I think in 86 or 86 and a 1/2. You should remove that tube and get a pack of large vacuum caps from your local parts house and put on the air filter box where that tube connected too because it’s just sucking up raw hot air from the firewall side exhaust manifold and could suck up dirt or debris when driving around. I have an 85 GT and an 87 GT that’s a part car. My 85 I’m fixing to paint hopefully this week or very soon before it gets to cold to do it. Keep posting more Fiero content!
DownShiftingIsFun 1 Thanks for the Feedback!
I was hoping that was the case with that tube.
I hadn’t thought of capping it off. That makes a lot of sense! 👍 Much more content on the way !
I agree with what you said above but if it is like my 88 Formula where it goes into the air box is already capped off as part of the recall. In other words, the exposed pipe/hose is not pulling air from the engine bay into the air box.
eelecurb Appreciate the comment. I’ll check that out as soon as I get home.👍
Love it thanks. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can you describe the issue you were having with the headlights?
They would not open up with the headlight switch. 87 and 88’s have a control panel under the drivers fender. If both lights won’t pop up it’s usually that panel.
Hi there, you have a nice video with good information. I would like to see if you might share me some feedback in what to do with a high idle issue. Im working on a 4 cylinder 84’ Fiero 2m4 and is running between 1800 rmps to almost 3000 rpms. Thanks for any advise if anyone could give me little help.!
High idle in most cases are due to vacuum leaks. The easiest way to check for leaks is to spray starting fluid around the engine and if the idle gets higher then you definitely have a leak in that area.
@@wingedhorsegarage473 thank you. I will work with it. Hopefully i get to find the issue.!
#5 EZ OUT YEET!!!
That was the greatest moment of your automotive career !👍
it looks like your tach is off it's a common problem when it shows like 30000 RPM it's really not what it shows on the tach i know that on both of the fieros i have they are both bad and show what they want you can possibly find a new one on the fiero store but you might pay out the nose for it though
Hey, your tires are dryed out, time to replace before someyhing bad happen!
Good eye! I am looking for tires but I’m torn between the black wall or raised letter. What do you think?
@@wingedhorsegarage473 With original mags I'd go with black walls, I bougth Firestone Indy 500 for my 87, sticky tires !
beyer422 Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. Keep that blacked out theme going !
@@wingedhorsegarage473 I had a tough time finding a tire I liked for the stock wheels. I went with the falken ohtsu fp7000. I couldn’t find a summer tire but these are the closest thing to it
White letter
Vacuum out that heater box!
Spoken like a true Fiero Fan. Lol
I’ll get right on that !
