Spent many days as a young fella baling hay with Leslie’s father Addy and the David Brown using a bale slipe. It was my job to ride on the bale slipe, when it was full, release it, run over the bales and jump on the back of slipe to close gate and await the refill of bales. 😊😊😊
We have a Bomford BL 181 the later version of them balers and its great done many a great bale for us first 500 in july and 200 in august, Leslie's a brave man with no sled for 3 balers.
That brings back memories, in the 1980's a neighbour used to bale all our barley straw in wee squares with a Bamford super 59 baler and a ford 7600 power plus, we do our own wee square baleing now every year with a Jones 12T square baler. Brilliant video, its just the way I remember it when I was a lad.
I remember when was lad baling conventional bales in a X plate International 674 with flat 8 and flat 8 grab then stacking by hand. Great vid and saying that the smaller conventional bale seems to be on an increase. Maize and customers seems be about foot shorter then usual this year due to a hot summer.
@@farmflix yea but I like my memories and when you made between 4 to 6000 bales a season it can be a blessing stacking Hesstons on to Trailer with Manitou!
Friggen loved this bud great work .like you say making memorys its the best thing love the old stuf its what was around when i was a kid id be the same watch it for hours love 2 wheel drives i am from the uk but left the uk in 82 bound for austrailia still in oz .i was 12 when i left the uk in cumbria now 53 in victoria ok love your vids be safe out there thanks
Early 70s used to have two bale trailer ropes to lash down load, our workman would tie the ends to bales for us kids to ride on like we were water skiing
It is a welger we run alright John. Lol Leslie won’t be happy but it’s always on a 6 cylinder cause we don’t have anything else. 1000 shaft tick over does the job. 6506 has been replaced tho 😉
John Deere 338 or 348 the auger feed works better for long stem hay you can bale 450 bales per hour 55Lbs 36inch long in perfect conditions I baled over 600 per hour with 348 .
Tbh the New Hollands may not be the best but they are still about and new parts available, wander if welgar be slowly harder to get spares for that MF has the small Heston as their own baler , think JD and Claas might have finished making small balers too

Brilliant and your memory of bale sleighs and the miracle of farm kids surviving the myriad of dangers back then are spot on. No H and S back then .
The bale sleighs are a rare sight nowadays
I mind this sort of set up when I was a youngster (wee square balers). Nice to see folk still at it and working good honest older machinery.
It's great to see them working so well. Thanks for watching.👍
Mighty rigs hay and square balers always made great child hood memories
Agreed some of the best childhood memories were at the hay. 😀
Used a bamford 159 super for years. Often put 2 or 3 thousand bales through it a day.. rarely missed a bale. Brilliant little machine.
A solid little machine. Make a nice bale also. Thanks for watching Thomas.👍
Great to see you making even more memories with your dad. Keep up the good work
thanks jonathan

They bring back great memories of stacking the bales as they came off the baler nots down and out. Their Coul be as many as 12 to 15 of us at it.
Knots out and down a classic statement from doing the hay back in the day 🤣
Ant, many a time I heard knots down and out, do you know the reason why the knots were put down and out? I do, just wondered does anybody else know.
My dad bought a new bamford early 80s still going good balers 😉
One of the best for the job Thomas.
Great memory's of the bamford😊
Great yeah back lads👍
Good to be back👍
I loved this video, my dad had Fords like that and a New Holland bailer to swear at. Loved haymaking seasons as a kid.
Last of the summer wine Mags... Don't make em like this anymore!

Stacking small squares is a memory that many people will always have Christopher. Some of the best summer days spent at the bales.

Plenty more to come.😀
Nice to see your old man out with the balers 👍 but god knows how you lot manage without a flat 8 and grab. 🤣🤦♂
Thanks for watching. Oh we manage away just fine 🤣
Just thought I'd let you know that I'm fairly sure New Holland thines fit the Bamford as a local mechanic has one and fitted nh ones
Must look into this more thanks very much for the info.
Is the Gemini belong to your daddy too. Hard got now, great yoke for rattling hay.

@@christopherwhyte5287 Leslie thinks they're too sore on the baler... Or that's his story at least 😉
What's the episode where big jonny neal goes mad
660 bales at 30p is 198 pound that's a waste of time down here in the south west we're getting 1 euro per bale
Anyone know how big the field is ?
