I meet Maestro Candido when he was 91 years old here in San Antonio, TX In a Jazz Fest. Just an amazing man, on stage all eyes was on him and WOW! He can play at that age. It was an honor talking to him I do have pics with him and he autograph my Quinto drum. God bless him and thanks for talking about Maestro Candido. Keep up the good work. I always watch your channel. Thank you so much for your videos. They are so informative. I always wondered what I was doing on the congas. There are some things I can just play and I don't have a clue of what I'm doing, but it just sounds good. Again fantastic!!
I saw Candido play on May 16th 2018 at the end of the free concert LP hosted at the Cutting Room in NYC. CRAZY! This cat was celebrating his 97th birthday and was still the baddest dude in the room NO DOUBT. Even the other legends who were there like Giovanni who was going crazy with 2 missing fingers and Pedrito Martinez were no match. I have some great video!
Tienes razón, Cándido es sorprendente e indescifrable, estilo único. Gracias por tus vídeos, he aprendido mucho.
FRANKIE MALABE. Gracias Eric, Recibe infinidad de Bendiciones

Eric, as usual, your analysis, tuition and narrative is "off the chain" good. I am a tres player who only dabbles in percussion, but it was interesting to hear that Candido plays tres (and right-handed, according to the photo). Totally agree about knowing as many instruments as possible. Keep it coming, man!
This almost feels like a cross between pilón and son montuno. I feel like you could totally play this on a pilón and it would work. Thanks for sharing brother!
Beautiful Tumbao by Candido. Beautifully taught lesson, brother. Bro, you cranked out a 3 conga bell pattern on the end of the vid. How'd you do that? Too cool!
Saludos
Now senor Camero is playing in Heaven with professionals up there. Rest In Peace, maestro. Mucha Gracias. Te Amo. 🙏

BB Ruiz Thank you!!’
Candido RIP.... A Legend.....
Candido has some CRAZYYYY finger technique. Crazy the sound that comes out with just a subtle strike to the heads.
When you watch him play his hands look like they stretch...almost looks like a flipper!
Man, I love this signature tumbaos series
Great breakdown Eric, te quedo muy bien! Well done and cool pic with Master Candido!

Great lesson. I watched Pakito Baez version of Candido's Tumbao. So now i've combined the two and created an 8 bar phrase with them.
He is the master...!

Have you done Mozambique? Pello el Afrokan?
So the second part of the phrase is a “split” tumbao between the conga and quinto
