Muchos saludos
Paoli one of the best percussionist of Puerto Rico and one of the best congeros of Carlos santana has in his group . Mis respetos y admiracion maestro!! 🇵🇷🙏❤️
The Reaction U showed between 6:20 to 6:28 is the same I do when I get Ur Replies!! My Reactions are like 😲🤤 U r Fortunate to have Came Across such Great People and I am Blessed to have come Under Ur Guidance!! Paoli is Urs and U are My Conga Hero!! Thank U for being My Guru!!!!
Bravo! I’ve been watching your videos & they’re pretty cool. Congrats, but now you put the cherry on top with Paoli’s edition. I recorded the lead vocal on Lo que dice el Tambor, yes Paoli is super humble super talented super down to earth. He me & Yuba Iré on The spot
Great video, as usual! Paoli is great! I am a huge Raul and Paoli fan. Glad Santana found someone different. ..A different kind of beast! Nice NU graphics, also!
Conga Borikua was how I found out who you were YEARS AGO. I knew you were a beast at that point! Paoli, is the man! Just my opinion, aside from Gio, Paoli is the most melodic. The way he tunes his drums, his melodies on the congas and of course his technique and groove is not human haha.
Thumbs up for the video drrums sound great but I could do without the music in the background when you spoke. But as usual I enjoyed and learned something
Richard Adelman I really appreciate all your fine work in breaking down some really interesting patterns. I would appreciate it if you could be a little more reflective in speaking about the rhythms you present us. For instance, in this case, this pattern is basically a Mozambique after the style Tommy Lopez played with Palmier in the 1960´s on Molasses and Mambo con Conga Is Mozambique albums. Interesting coincidence, of course, that Paulo played with Palmieri among so many others. By the way, in 1968 Barry Rogers (Palmieri´s lead trombonist) told me that when Eddie was on a talk radio show some Cuban expatriates phoned in to threaten him for playing Mozambique (since they associated it emotionally with Castro´s regime). Has political discourse improved since then? ¡Que no!
You are a great teacher, however to remember all this great input, written charts would leave your legacy available to so many more students who need to remember all that you share. I for one would be able to develop your teachings without the hardship of wasting so much time! Please consider posting standard musical charts for congas, using a bar for each drum, using R or L, < for slap , period for closed or T and H etc...Man, so many more folks would eat it up. Unfortunately 50% of the world's musicians can't read charts, it is a problem! Thanks brother for another mother!
Eric really cool vid for sure! You started to talk about Paoli and the first thing I thought was that old vid from CongaBorikua. That was the first time I saw you playing, and you have come a long way Bro! Glad you were able to meet someone you look up to, and you took away good memories from it. Paoli is been hot putting out albums, playing and singing with his son who is also an accomplished player himself. Keep up the great work man, I hope Paoli will see this since I"m sure he will like it. Take it easy and keep up the great work!
Love and appreciate YOU more!!! God bless you you and your familia! BTW .. he is up here in the Pacific North West. Come up here and stay with me for a bit. We'll go and watch him and his homies in the small nightclub Seamonster in Seattle with gringos who have NO idea who is and what he represents. Its RAW!
Eric! Question ? How old where you ,when you did conga boricua ? You look really young , your solo back then was so awesome . Once in a while go back to look at it. Who was your tutor or instructor in your beginnings. Was it Paulo Mejia?.... saludos
Alex Laureano great question.... I was 23 yrs old... I didn’t have an instructor or teacher... but listened and watched a lot of people like Paoli to learn the best I could
Hey Erick how do you deal with this scripture? 1 John 2:15 English Standard Version (ESV) Do Not Love the World 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. - while being a percussionist? Just a heart full, honest question. ❤️
Great question... I get asked this a lot especially being a percussionist that's Christian... like how do I balance what I learn with relation to Holiness... Loving the World is one thing... Learning from it's cultures is another... how it's applied and how much of that culture is consumed without it compromising your Christian moral values is solely based on your relationship with Christ... How it's shared and delivered to others has to and always should reflect the Love of Jesus which died for this World... How we communicate it with others that may not see the same values and beliefs as you do has to always be done with a love and respect towards them (not trying to act superior) without diminishing our own beliefs in Christ... If we are the light of the World and we are called to shine in the darkness.. we cannot be afraid to take the Light to the darkness... and often times as "Christian Musicians" we literally only shine around other Lights... if you know what I mean... Thanks for asking that question.
Gracias hermanito me hace sentir honrado por como aprecias y expones mi trabajo. Estoy muy agradecido. Un abrazo fuerte.
Un abrazo hermano! Gracias por todo!

Hello Eric like to know were you get your Conga t shirts.
I normally get my shirts from Amazon! This shirt in particular was a gift from a viewer... I believe custom ordered.

Hola, eres un capo, me encantaria comprar las pieles que tu usas, vivo en España, ayudame gracias, un abrazo
Las compre en www.manitopercussion.com creo que ellos los pueden enviar hasta España
How abour Poalo mejia playung?
Is this in 4\4 or 6\8 I don’t know how to count this rythum
The music in the background music is distracting. It doesn't do justice to your message. Also, what kind of heads do you have on the congas?
Your slaps are sweet
You're a great teacher, but you talk too much. You could have more practice in your classes and talk less.
