- Dimkee Hotay is one of those characters in Halo that most a lot of players would have missed while playing through the Halo 5: Guardians campaign, but he easily has some of the funniest lines of dialogue in the entire series. This video compiles everything he says, from fourth-wall breaks to funny little observations he's made. Here's to hoping he returns in some form in Halo Infinite.
This was one of the earliest videos I worked on, and I put considerable effort into trying to add visuals that I believed would make the video funnier. Hopefully it worked!

"At one point, Hotay was stationed at a very dangerous location with numerous fellow Unggoy. As it grew more dangerous at the location, with the Unggoy apparently under the threat of the location exploding before night time, Hotay led his fellow Unggoy to a ship that he believed only could hold one Unggoy. When the other Unggoy learned of the ship's small size, many of them fought and killed each other in an attempt to be the one to gain access to the ship, cried, or died making heroic sacrifices. Soon, Hotay was the only survivor among the Unggoy unit. When he finally reached the ship, Hotay realized that the vessel was actually quite large and could easily have fit all of his now-deceased comrades. As he left the location aboard the ship to reach safety, Hotay brought several piles of rocks with him for "company"

Holy shit. Never knew these fun-ass game I played when I was younger had such a deeper story that’s insane lol. Reading the halo books also expanded my knowledge of the halo universe, it’s all pretty incredible to know all the lore of halo & its characters & races.

Probably because Grunts are short lived, average lifespan is 55 years, where Elites can live up to 200 years.

Plus the Grunts are forced more into Aux rolls for naval use. Meaning that most of the Covenant Navy and Spirt Dropships as example are crewed by the Grunts.
They were also used at code breakers..
their minds are actually really similar to humans and/or great apes, they have great learning capacity and memory. Some are even bilingual (like Dadab in the novels speaking Huragok sign language)

There's a wiki about him where he tried to escape a dangerous place with his Unngoy unit, and believed the escape ship was a solo pilot cabin, and his entire unit ended up killing each other. When he got to the ship, he learned it could easily fit the whole unit, and kept rocks with him so he wasn't alone. Dudes seen some shit

In previous games, the grunts would sometimes cry out "Not again!" when stuck with a grenade, hinting that grunts get reincarnated. If this is true, then this grunt could've witnessed many Halo events.

As a kid I'd like to leave one grunt behind alive. It made me feel like his encounter with me was so terrifying that he would tell others of his life threatening experience and would build up my legend amongst the Covenant. Guess this must be the guy. Glad to see he changed his ways.

I like to think they are in a lunch break, but since the Unggoy get all the nutrients they need from that thing in their backs, he can speak freely. But the Sangheili has a lunch box in his legs and is eating a sandwich, that's why he only answers with grunts. But they are actually good friends, so they lunch together everyday.

This Grunt is probably more badass than most Spartan IVs, he’s lived through Chief, the Gravemind, the Great Schism, etc.
According to what he says, he has met the chief, the Arbiter, has seen the gravemind, met the Didactic and jul’mdama, which means he was also a part of the storm faction of the covenant and was found by Jul. Going by that logic, he knew the war was over an STILL joined in on Jul’s war. He then sometime between halo 4 Spartan ops and halo 5 joined the swords and if he is talking about the origins of the flood in the last clip, he was able to read a forerunner terminal detailing the origins of the flood. This grunt has seen it all.
I love how the Elite's grunts are actually contextual to what the Grunt is saying... He's listening you guys...

Joseph Staten, most likely :D He also helped write the campaign storylines back when Bungie held the reigns, and has written a few books for the canon as well.

Unggoy are actually one of the smartest races in Halo, but they’ve been enslaved and farmed to fight for the covenant at the equivalent age of 3 human years or something like a little kid. Maybe this Unggoy was smart enough to know all this? :0

Yeah when they feed flood spores to their version of the dogs and it started the whole outbreak
He talking about when the precursor grounded themsleves down to a dust, the ancient humans found the dust in ships on the edge of the galaxy. The humans tested to to find it harmless so the SanShioon (don't know how to spell it) feed it to their dogs. after a while the first flood forms formed. then it spread.
The humans found it and fed it to these animals they kept as pets. They weren’t dogs. They were similar to chickens and they treated them the same way we treat dogs. The powder made the animal more docile, which is why they kept feeding it to them. It mutates the animal over time and this is how the first flood appeared.

@@donmak7552Game is mostly a regular FPS but then at a random mission the Elite who's been barking orders at you goes quiet, then you find his corpse, a pistol round clean through his head, and then it becomes survival horror because the Demon has shown up.
