    Thanks for the in depth reviews on the Pursuit MX Pro! I think you are the only one with such detailed reviews on the paddle. I’ve been considering it, as well as the Volair Mach 1 Forza. How would you compare them? I had a chance to play around with the MX Pro 6.0 a bit. It’s pretty good, the handle a little clunky and the feel a little hollow, but otherwise I like it. I thought the MX might fix those problems, which will be pretty much what I am looking for. I haven’t had a chance to play with the Mach 1 Forza. Anyway, thanks for the reviews!

      No problem at all, I hope it was helpful! And your question is a good one.. the Forza and the Pro MX are both good paddles, but for different reasons. Both have really good spin, definitely top-teir spin levels. The feel of the paddles are a bit different, though. The Forza has that somewhat typical stiff feeling face that a lot of the gen 2 thermoformed paddles have, with a lower dwell time. The Pro MX isn't thermoformed, so it maintains feel thats a little more soft on the fave than the Forza, somewhat in-between gen 1 raw carbon fibers and gen 2 thermoformed carbon fiber paddles, and I think the Pro MX is a bit more poppy. So both great on spin, with the feel being a little different in terms of fave stiffness, and a more poppy Pursuit MX (so Forza is a little easier to control on dinks and drops, but Pro MX is faster hitting).
      And for me personally, in terms lf the Pursuit Pro series... I didn't much like the Pursuit MX 6.0... They are still a little head heavy for me and didn't have enough power, and they do have larger handle circumference than the Pursuit Pro MX, especially if you want to add an overgrip or something. I greatly prefer the Pursuit Pro MX to the MX 6.0 version.
      Hope that's helpful!

      @@PickleballMedicine it is very helpful! I’ve been using a B&B Filth and I enjoyed it but I’m ready to try something a little different as the grit in the sweet spot is getting worn out, also to support an American-made paddle. The MX 6.0 is getting pretty close to what I like. I thought I’d prefer 16mm in general, but you’ve convinced me to try the thinner version. If the MX clicks with me, I will definitely have to give your lead tape setup a try! Thanks again for your help!

    Do you feel there is a big difference between the 6.0 and non 6.0 models?
    I’ve always played with 16mm paddles as my game is more all-court oriented.

      I think that's a good question.. I think for most paddles there is a noticeable difference between the 16mm and 13mm versions, with some brands having a larger difference... Engage is one of those brands with a decent difference in their 13mm and 16mm versions.
      They are both good paddles for sure, and I think it depends a bit on personal preference for the Pursuit Pro series. the 16mm Pursuit Pros are a bit more head-heavy, so if you end up going with that, i usually tell people to request a weight that's 8.1 oz or less if head-heavy paddles bother them. Both the 16mm and 13mm have great spin, but the 13mm will have more power and pop, while the 16mm will be easier to control. Truthfully, when I go a week or more without playing, I have a hard time keeping myself calibrated with the 13mm Pro, but when I am able to play consistently, that thing has it all. During times of the year I am more busy, I play with the 16mm version so I have more room to be less dialed in, haha.

    How would you say the sweet spot feels? Is it unforgiving? Do you use lead and if so what is your set up? I want to purchase a mx.

    • @PickleballMedicine

      I think it's pretty good, actually. I didn't use any lead tape, but If I did, I would have put it at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions to increase the sweet spot size, only because it doesn't really need increased head speed or balance, and it never hurts to have a more large sweet spot, haha. Though it would probably make it more poppy, which may be too much for some!

    Just starting using this paddle. Super poppy I’m coming from a Ronbus R1 pulsar. I’m still trying to get a feel for 3rd shot drops it due to sometimes hitting the ball too soft and other times it just pops up. Any tips ?

    • @PickleballMedicine
      @PickleballMedicine  5 місяців тому

      That can definitely be a hard thing about using this paddle... the pop is great, but can get away from you if you don't dial in the drops and soft game!
      Some common things people say are loosen grip, slow and smooth movements (think barely swing, haha), hit drops while moving forward instead of backward, ect... but the thing that helped me the most and made it clock for me wasn't actually loose GRIP, it was having a more loose WRIST. I'm not talking super floppy or anything, but loosen a little so when the paddle rests in your hand, it won't sit straight upright, it sort of leans forward or off to the side because your wrist is loose, if that makes sense... if your wrist is tense and non-mobile, it will stop the energy of the ball drom absorbing into the arm and transfer right back from the paddle to the ball, cause it to accelerate faster off the face. Hopefully these ramblings are helpful! Haha

    Are your serves a lot faster with this MX versus the MX 6.0?

    • @PickleballMedicine
      @PickleballMedicine  6 місяців тому +1

      I think that's a good question... the MX has more pop (how much the ball reactively recoils off the face) which makes it a fast-hitting paddle, and for plowthrough power (aka, top ball speed on drives and serves, despite how explisively it does or doesn't recoil off the face) I think it's comparable, with the MX 6.0 being overall heavier, so it you could swing the 6.0 version hard enough, you would likely be able to produce a higher amount of force to transfer to the ball to get it to go a higher overall speed, but the MX can hit fast with less effort, if that makes sense.

      Cool, which weight did you get? Any lead?

    • @PickleballMedicine
      @PickleballMedicine  6 місяців тому

      I like the MX 6.0 right around 8.1 ounces, and it may be a little atypical, but I didn't feel the need to add lead tape!

    The carbon is Toray t700 which is a higher quality than t700 which gives it better durability.
