Thanks George. Great info. I hope to try one in the near future. Some of our clubs around our area, are Digi-trax. This would be a good way to run my equipment.
Thanks George. Thanks for the comments about resisters on the PNP boards. I have often wondered why you don't have those preinstalled on the aftermarket boards when they are on the Athearn OEM boards. A peeve I have though is why is the current keeper plug on the end of the ATH OEM boards. I can't get the plug in without removing the clips and soldering the wires to the two middle tabs. Just did this on a Genesis GP9 yesterday. Your aftermarket boards have a much better location for that plug.
Yes, you can upgrade your P42 to a SoundTraxx decoder. The scale will determine which decoder you choose. There are a few videos out there: ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=soundtraxx+p42 If you need further assistance, our Support Team is happy to help: (970)259-0690 ext.22 or support@soundtraxx.com.
Have you seen the Hornby HM DCC Bluetooth system? Just wondering how it compares. At moment all the free sound profile uploads are specific to Hornby UK models but the free control app is incredibly powerful and so easy to make cv changes. 👍 from UK 😊
Their sound quality is much lower and the system, from what I have heard, is not as intuitive. We have been the leader in sound and DCC technology for over 34 years now, and with that comes great products. The many sound channels, flexibility and realism built into the Blunami will blow away any competition. I believe they brag about 3 sound channels.. Compare that to our 16, which means we can play up to 16 sounds at a time, creating a more realistic simulation of a loco rather than a ‘greeting card’ level noise playback system. All of our sounds are pre-loaded in great quality so it should deliver a great experience. Check out some of the reviews and our operational videos on UA-cam and you’ll see. Only limits now is we do not have a lot of UK sounds in the Blunami, but there are some that can make a believable loco. I hope this helps.
Thanks for this George. Is there any OEM with a Blunami option? I would love to be able to buy a OEM Blunami with sound installed. I installed my first Blunami but absolutely cannot find a place for the speakers without major chassis mods.
Currently Blunami is not available factory installed, but send your requests to the model manufacturers so they see the demand. Our Support Team is available for install advice: (970)259-0690 or support@soundtraxx.com
It is very exciting that youre coming out with an Android version of the Blunami. I like how easy it is to program, and execute function changes. One question I have is, can you run the engine using the JMRI wifi throttle, or is it only functional with the Blunami app?
Blunami is a full DCC decoder. So if the wifi throttle can control DCC decoders then yes it will work. Our Support Team can answer any further questions that you have: (970)259-0690 ext. 22 or support@soundtraxx.com.
The installation will be similar to the one in this video. It is simple, some soldering is required. Our Support Team can answer any further questions that you have: (970)259-0690 ext. 22 or support@soundtraxx.com.
Wish my work bench was that neat and tidy!
It takes some effort! Mine does not always look like this.

We are glad you found this one helpful! Let us know how it works for you!
Sure thing.
Thanks George, hope some day Athearn will put Blunami in their diesels
Thanks for the feedback, pass this request on to Athearn!

Thanks for the feedback. The layout of the factory-installed board is a little different from the after market and it required the plug to move.
Awesome George, thanks for the tutorial and the great instruction!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the video. I look forward to using these Blunami sound chips in my model trains this year.
You’re welcome! Feel free to share photos or video with us. We would love to see what you are working on!
Good idea on the parts bin. Hello Swiss Chalet… dipping sauce, ask fir an extra.

I have a couple of old mouse pads for a soft work surface.
Great tip!
If my Athearn Genesis GP38-2 has a Tsunami 2 , is the Blunami just a basic drop in/exchange?

As parts are removed from rolling stock, put those parts in an ice cube tray.
Nice tip!
Wow
