    Fantastic tutorial, and now I need to dig my Proto 2000 SW1200 out of the box, and buy your decoder, and get it wired up. Thanks so much for making this video.

    Funny that you used a turbocharged decoder for a non turbocharged engine.
    But it's great that a person will be able to get the 567 switched with a little programming.
    P.S. I'm DCC illiterate do these tutorials help a lot.

      I did not change the PM as I recall, so that was the default setting. But like you said this is just a quick CV change!

    excellent video. i was hoping you'd left the 645 sound on the switcher, sorta had it repowered with a newer engine lol

    Hi George, thank you for doing this install video, how is it, there’s so much room in the model, it was designed to have a speaker and decoder installed in it. I am in the middle of installing the 2200 and 2 mini cube speakers, into a Haskell HO, L class Westrail loco, it’s DCC ready, there is no place in the design to place any speaker, the only place I can see, is across the chase over the flywheels each side of the motor, wired in series of course. I did send an email with photos, to your support for some help quite a while ago, but had no reply. This video has given me an idea of what to use to mount the speakers. Thank you again for a great install video 👍🏻. Take care, kind regards, Gary, Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺

    With the introduction of the TSU N18 this installation should be much easier without a need to remove the stock board

      @SoundtraxxDCC  3 роки тому

      Yes our TSU-N18 will make a lot of installs easier when it is available.

    What wire strippers/cutters are you using. Most of the ones I fans only go down to a 22ga wire and your wires are smaller than that.

    I noticed that you used a single 220uF capacitor as a Keep Alive. Is this ok to do? Because the commercial Keep Alives have other components connected to the Keep Alive. To make it work. One more question is, Can I used a higher capacitance capacitor so the motor will stay alive a little longer? Thanks.

    • @SoundtraxxDCC
      @SoundtraxxDCC  3 роки тому

      Yes this capacitor is ok to use it comes with the TSU-1100 because in small models you often cannot fit a CurrentKeeper. For more info on this contact our support department directly: support@soundtraxx.com

    Do you know if a Kato rs-2 ho scale would be safe to use with Kato’s circuit board? With this decoder?

    • @SoundtraxxDCC
      @SoundtraxxDCC  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, but make sure you test the stall current some of those motors draw more than one amp.

  • @Don-et3yp

    Being a cheapskate why not just use one 1000 ohm resister in the blue common behind the cap?
    Excellent video George.

    • @SoundtraxxDCC
      @SoundtraxxDCC  4 роки тому

      Each gets their own resistor to get consistent lighting results. When they share a 1000 Ohm resistor, when both are illuminated, they are sharing the power, where if they each use their own resistors, then both get full power. It’s better also if using different types of LEDs, or they have different internal properties. One could illuminate while the second does not at all.

      We use Its alpha OM-338. Its an industrial flux but you can find similar products at places like digikey. The kind George uses at home is called Chip Quik.

    That's a proper 12 cylinder 567? Didn't think so. You're stooping pretty low here, guys. Have some class.

      The Tsunami2 EMD-2 has the 12-cyl 567. It was the one we recorded, so I am not sure why you're saying this.
