I bought my coffee plant 8 years ago, when it was about 4 inches high, and not even knowing what kind of a plant it was. Last year in the Spring, I noticed these red beans on the plant! I googled it and sure enough: it was a coffee plant!
I have replanted it twice, and it is now 6 foot tall, having grwon 7 new stems and takes up the entire corner of my living room by the east facing window. I've always given it tap water; it does lose leaves here and there, but I'm not worried because it's such a huge plant-family now. lol I hardly fertilized it, but now that it's getting older, I'll definitely take better care of it. :)
Do you have picture by any chance?;)
i'm so glad u made this video bc ur right, there's not a lot of videos on coffee plant care as a house plant so I really appreciate it! i think the coffee plant is so so cute so it's definitely one that I will want to have in the future :)
you won’t regret it!! they are so much fun. and if you have the right conditions you can always try to get some beans 🤷🏻♀️
I only started watching this video like 30 seconds ago but thank you so much for posting it. I really really need tips on coffee plants lol
i'm so glad i could help!! they can be a little tricky
I actually screeched when I saw the title, I've had a coffee plant for a few months and it's doing okay but I cannot get rid of the brown spots on the leaves! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
YAY! i hope this video helped! coffee plants are super underrated in my opinion.
Well thank you! I live in a moist, temperate climate, with frosts and long winters, and for 3 years I've been on a crash course learning how to grow everything I can here ~ including coffee. This winter, i put my 3 year old coffee plants into the green house over winter, and they are coming through ok, not once had I thought of bringing them inside... it's a much nicer idea, and the bathroom is perfect: humid warm, and sorely in need of some plants! I'll grow them on and enjoy them inside, then plant them into large pots in the green house I haven't built yet to fruit. I needed to see this video to formulate a plan, so thanks again :)
I had my coffee plant in its original pot for a year and a half and it had been doing fine. Last november I decided to repot it, and now for the past few weeks it’s been looking brown and terrible. I went up 3-4 inches in pot size and I think that’s what did it. Also repotted during a cold month, rookie mistake! 😅 Thank you so much for this video! I’m hoping I can save it.
Same! My coffee plants are not happy since I repotted them just around New Year's. :(
I feel your pain😔. ...and now I know 😊
This is the one plant that has tripped me up and the distilled water could definatly be it . Thank you!!!
of course! fingers crossed that does the trick ❤️
What about bottled R/O water in place of tap water?
Thank you 🙏 for your time. My wife and I watched your video about our peace Lilly. And then I was given a coffee tree yesterday, so as I am trying to save it I came to UA-cam. And low and behold here you are… so I’m hoping to learn about all the tips and tricks this guy may be missing.. thank you 🙏
Thanks I just bought this for a light and warm landing at my office. It was looking like a lonely space. So Im hoping it will grow well there. ☺️
I agree regarding the point about the soil. I bought standard indoor plant soil, 5L bag for less than one euro. And I see no difference whatsoever with my coffee plant growth. Just make sure that your pot has good drainage and if needed add some perlite to soil.
My poor little plant (Farrah) is turning brown & I’m thinking I need to start using distilled water. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for the video. I welcomed one coffee tree in my family. This is very helpful.
So glad I found this. Picked up a coffee plant recently and it was completely miss labeled I spent hours trying to figure out what it was and now I know lol
Thank you, you were so helpful. Just got a coffee plant today.
I was considering getting a coffee plant! Perfect timing 😄 I'm so excited!!
DO IT! i absolutely love this plant
@@GoodandPlanty I definitely will! I already have 12 houseplants so why not get more 😆
Thanks for these coffee plant tips! So detailed and handy 😊 I grew mine from seed and it’s finally starting to get to a good size and I’d like to keep it that way!
Good tip about the pests too. Mine had a tiny caterpillar munching it recently so you never know! 😅
so cool that you grew yours from seed! maybe i can try that one day 🤩
Liked it before I even watched it, thank you so so much for doing this video! ❤
you're too sweet!! 💚
This may sound cannibalistic, but coffee plants love used coffee grinds. Brewed grinds make a great fertilizer.
Oh my god! Finally a video I can rely on! My coffee plant is literally doing so badly, kinda desperate to save it! So thank you for putting this up! You go girl!
thank you! such an underrated plant. fingers crossed yours makes a striking comeback :)
How did it go
Thanks for the care video. Great content 👏
I don't even have this plant, I just found this interesting. Thank you for the background info on coffee plants in the beginning of the video! Also, love your style ✌
So cute. The plant! I mean the plant. Cute plant.
Thank you, this was extremely helpful!
You’re the best. My coffee plant turned white, so time for an intervention.
This might blow your mind, coffee grounds are a great source of nitrogen, It's recommended to use pre brewed ones though to reduce the risk of caffeine stunting growth
i have mine under a 660 watt High Pressure Sodium with No Problem, it Hated more than a couple hours in the summer sun though. Informative Video, Thank You.
Thanks for the video :) I got a small coffee plant two years ago and it has grown slowly but surely. I want to get another one to try to get beans. :)
i just put some black tea in the soil every once and awhile for acidity
Oooooh so this is why my tip of leaves are burned. Its because i dont use distilted water.
Im really glad i see your video i learned alot
But i have bought it recentlyand it was like this even before.
Thanks for this video! I’ve been noticing some brown leaves and I even lost some leaves 😢 and I think it must be the tap water then! I’ll give it a try with the distilled water.
I've had a coffee plant for quite a while now. I'm a bit concerned if it's still alive 😅 Watching this I definitely think I've got it in too big of a pot but oh well gotta live and learn. Definitely going to try distilled water and getting more humidity
Excellent and thorough. Thanks so much for your wonderful video. You are awesome!
I may have picked a difficult plant for a beginner... Pray for Jude (my plant). ALSO, where can I get a watering can like yours?
Is it still possible the grow beans even if it’s that small?
Very helpful ! This video saved my plant !!
yay!! so happy i could help :)
I just bought a coffee plant from a local store and there were 5 separate plants. I separated them out and put each in it's own container. I noticed that you have several in the same container, just as mine came from the store. I am wondering if I should have left them all together, or will they be fine separated? Is there a benefit to keeping them together?
I'm new to the coffee plant too, but I've seen recommendations to separate them or one will dominate and the others suffer.
Oh my god thank you for your vid. Was contemplating keeping my Kona coffee indoors :-)
HII! I have a question. Is it okay to water the plant with rain water? I heard that plants love rain water but this one has sensitive roots so I would like to know it it’s okay for the plant.
Wow! Yours is sooo dark and perfect. Mine is just a normal green with a little crispy edges. Haha 😂
I prune mine pretty regularly because the baby leaves definitely get crispy on me too 😅
Very interesting plant. 👍 🙂
I ❤ your plants in the back 😊
Use a normal Terra-cotta pot but the white powdery stuff formed near my coffea so I put it in a Ceramic pot
I just bought a tiny coffee plant. How soon should I repot to a bigger pot?
Mine has some yellowing of the leaves and has lost a few leaves over the last 3/4 months
Thank you for posting this💚 My coffee plant was so lush when i bought it, but it’s literally soooo thirsty so it lost a bunch of bottom leaves and now it’s bald at the stems... i kinda wanna chop down the whole thing to see if it comes back fuller but idk if its that kind of plant
oh no :( the good news is they can take a heavy pruning!
This is my problem too.
I have coffee tree and what do I need use to protect against ant from tree
What if my coffee tree it’s in a way bigger pot ? Which number would you recommend with the moisture meter? And how deep would you stick it into the soil.
Hello I have a baby Arabica coffee plant but it came with 8 to 10 legs..
Do they all come this way or do you think I have more than one in this pot?
Hi there. My 10 YO coffee plant has been declining badly. Limp leaves, brown spots and stunted new growth. Any suggestions?
im in NH and of course it's winter now. my coworker just gifted me one of his coffee plants and i adore it but i am so afraid i will kill the precious little thing. right now i have it on the plants table up against my big glass sliding door in an East/South direction. but we still go in and out that sliding door thru the winter. im worried the cold draft could bother it but ive always had plants on that table and they like it, i even have some 'desert' plants there. i wish i had room to maybe put the coffee plant in the bathroom, would that be a nice place since it gets very humid in there..?? i have other locations i could use. but also the sun is so low now in the winter and we have tall pine trees often blocking much of the low sun, so i think in the winter it definitely needs to be closer to a window. i have an east/south window in a room with no drafts where a couple plants already are. i been thinking of that as an option, but i often keep that entire floor on the cooler side to save money in winter.
some of the leaves are still browned and crispy on the edges and most of the older 'trucks' seem to be splitting vertically like theres a water issue or something...? 😫 please dont die little plant
They can handle down to around 50 degrees but not for long periods.
I just dip my index finger in the soil to check the soil for moisture level.
that's a valid way to do it! i just prefer the moisture meter
All my stem roots died...I have 2 stems left and they are so far surviving, and growing finally leaves, I had to move it to the window...against the sun, when it was on a table 1m away of the window. But the leaves never droop, it just turned brown, so that's why I never knew if it need it water, even after touching the soil...
The rest of the stems I tried to put it in the water to see if roots would grow again but it failed. Now I downsized the plant to a small nursery
what lights do you have in your white shelf???!! im looking for a similar style/size :)
How high can it grow?
I have some questions for my coffee plant...i do the watering with carbonated water, is it good for the plant? Also I put a Plastic bottle around it for humidity!
I have 3 plants that are (were) easy to grow. I have had them for about 5 years. I say "were" because the smallest one decided to just die. LoL. I keep hoping it will sprout new leaves since there are none left but no signs in over a month.
How do you fix a stemy plant? I have 2 I separated but now they are stemy but growing new leaves. Kinda reminds me of a mini palm tree. Any info please
Damn she's cute 😍
Why are my new leaf growth turning crunchy. Idk why it’s doing that so if someone could help me I would be so grateful
I have a baby coffee plant that has been failing to thrive since I got it about a year ago. I was going to give up on it, but yours is so pretty! I'm going to give him another summer to try to take off. Where do you get your white terracotta?
do it! i found mine at a local plant shop but i see them at garden centers and even on amazon.
Question if I want to put in some new dirt in my coffee plant can I cut some of the roots to open up more space? My plant is about 5 feet tall and it also has some white gooey stuff going on it I’ve tried using vinegar it goes away for a bit but then it comes back. Help 🙏🏻
Nice
Hey where do you get your white terra-cotta pots
Hi I just purchased a small Aribica Coffeee plant and I accidentally froze it....ughhh. Anyway do you have any ideas on how to bring it back, the stems and stock seems fine, however the leaves went droopy . Also do I give it fertilizer to try brining it back or is this just a time issue? Thanks!! :)
Cool
My baby is dying I don't know what to do. I leave in new york and we are in winter rn! What can I do
Which pests did you have on this plant?
oooo i like the time codes pic
thank u thank u 👩🏻💻
Were can I purchase a plant !
I bought a tiny plant of these at Home Depot and want to transfer it to a bigger pot. Can I use a ceramic pot with no holes underneath for drainage?
No. All plants need drainage’
Yo are the leaves supposed to be so dark? Mine are lighter
Thank you😅
✨COFAY✨
If a plant gets very light colored leaves, where you can kinda see “veins”, what could that be a sign off?
if i am picturing this correctly, probably a nutrient deficiency or too much light
Mine keep dying bottom leaves
❤❤❤❤
I moved a few weeks ago. My Arabica plant was in a box. I searched high and low for the plant. I found it weeks later! Dry. Bone dry. I am trying to revive it. I have never done this before. Do you think I can save her? Any suggestions?
Try searching up some videos on how to revive plants. At a certain point they are too far gone to save unfortunately :( hope yours is saveable!
@@monicasmm thank you. I will try but I am pretty sure this one is gone.
@@lisawarsh-chartier9473 any luck so far?
@@monicasmm I tried. It was just too far gone. RIP. I feel horrible for having killed it. Now I am trying to find another. My plant section has so many money trees right now. No Arabica. I will find one soon.
@@lisawarsh-chartier9473 I know Target may not be the best for plants but I see one little one there every time I go to my local one!
My arabica was doing so well and then its leaves dried and wilted. I've always kept it moist (not overwatering) and gave it bright indirect light. Watered it weekly but missed a week b/c I wasn't home. Is there any way to revive it or do I need to prune it down and hope for new growth? Not sure how much I need to cut back. Thanks for any tips.
What happened to your plant ?
@@eduardoochoa1786 cut it back. it never rebounded. : (
@@FNMCaffeine what happened to the leaves ? All turned brown crispy ?
That’s so sad to hear
1 year ago i killed my coffee arabica by fertilizer, cause i didn't diluate it...
Tranlaste 'Closed please open
But does it smell like coffee?? Haha jk loved the video.
imagine 😩
Sepreate your trees if u want cherries
When your Scottish so your tap water is probably better than distilled 😈
I’m watching and can’t help but think you definitely look like kinda like 11 from stranger things.
it’s also toxic.
i cannot stand this presentation
Please stop shaking it!
Stop shaking that poor plant! Just put it on the table! It is very annoying!
It is not hard to learn the pronunciation for words before making a video. There are literally UA-cam videos that do just that. If you want to appear to know what you are talking about, take that extra step. It’s not cute to fake it and mention how you’re not sure how to pronounce it.
i love being not cute
