Firouzja found engine-like Kf8 move in 10 seconds with less than a minute on the clock to hold the losing position, reached time control and blundered it next move with g5.
Truly the Guccireza moment of all time
In live commentary the woman GM said he would definitely find that move as there were no other options.
@CeltaVigo1916 I think that was her comment on Rd1 not Kf8
@@sergeantslowpoke1550 You're right, sorry my bad!

I just gotta say, that was an amazing recap. Nothing beats hearing commentary from the person who ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME. Thanks for all the effort you put into your craft. I believe this is your year. Cheers from another 'Murican!
It has both the bitterness in losing, happiness in winning, and boredom in drawing that someone who hasnt played this game will never be able to replicate.

Most crucial games incoming. First Nepo, then Gukesh. We all are rooting for you, Hikaru. Good Luck.

I can only imagine how hard it is to play games against strongest chess players out there, than all the interviews, media stuff, recap, and repeat it all over again.
Thank you, Hikaru!
You forgot the hardest part, coming back mentally after a brutal loss
Let's go Hikaru!!! Whatever happens, all I have to say is that you're making your fans incredibly proud and we're rooting for you to win it all. Like you said, you were not the clown of the tournament🤣
Dude you are cooking, it’s been a crazy ride cheering for you the whole tournament. Stay focused, you have got this!
😊
The amount of energy and commitment needed by this man is incredible. So i just want to say on behalf of your viewers, that we are all supporting you and that we all are very appreciative of the effort you put in to release these videos and streams.
I began watching you in late 2019, and during the pandemic, I just only revisited your videos in this year's chess candidate tournament. I've only recently, learned that Hikaru got married, and no wonder I've never seen him so Happy after his marriage. Happy for you and win this tournament!

Hikaru posting faster than Levy despite playing in the candidates
Levy does an analysis of every game every day and Hikaru only analyzes his own game
I mean his analyses are never really in depth even compared to Nakamura's first look at his game. @griffinseidel1240
HE SACCED THE ROOOOOOOOK!!!!!!!!!!!
@@griffinseidel1240His analysis is very surface level. Probably he just watches the games live and looks at a couple engine lines before making the video
@@sam2725Well it's easier analyzing your own games and Levy has to start recording right as the games end and upload instantly and if he were to analyze deeply it would be an over 1h video and nobody would watch it
Hikaru : in this position, white sacrifice…THE RRRRROOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKK !!!
levy is that you?
Man you're outperforming everyone in These Rounds, keep it up man this is one hell of a FIDE to watch!!
We believe in you, Hikaru! The haters in the streams have been trying to knock you down talking their big games when they have stockfish running in the background, but we have faith you're gonna pull through and win! You've been a light for me in finding chess during a dark time in my life and we appreciate what the dedication you have to your fans. Much love and good luck in the final rounds!
Good luck Hikaru! Keep that win streak up and we are all rooting for you!
-Checks his files a few days before the game.
-Spots a weird move, and doesn't understand why it's there.
-Proceeds to play it anyway because why not gg.

7. Qa4 confused the heck out of me when I saw it played. I couldn't figure out how provoking Bd7 helps white, so I was looking forward to this video for the explanation.
Naka: "It simply was the move that was in the file. I don't really understand why it was in the file, but it was there so I decided to play this move." 🤣

Yeah we are constantly reprimanded for playing these moves but when you become super gm you play it then own it then win the game…

@@pbrynild for fans he can be, even if he is not objectively
Hikaru basically had to beat Alireza twice in one game, it was crazy to watch live
I was so nervous when he blundered, I thought I was gonna die
surreal dude
I stepped away from the game when Firouzja had like 16min for 16 moves thinking Hikaru had it in the bag. Next time I looked they just made move 40 and it was even. Next time I looked the game was over and Hikaru had won. It was a wild ride not having the game up the whole time.
Yes
@@stevensko9153I mean you get to go down in history as a world chess champion definitely not something light
These recaps have been amazing for learning about game management and the meta aspects of otb classical chess. Thank you! Will be epic if you can do daily recaps playing for the WC
I live for these recaps. To do these recaps and play the candidates, and to play them well, is super impressive. You are smashing this event and I hope you win.
On a side note to get a glimpse of how 2800 players think is crazy because you see lines so quickly and easily. I remember the live stream saying that no one out calculated Hikaru and I see no lies in that statement.
Love you Hikaru, rooting for you as you enter the most crucial games :))))
Good job, Hikaru.
Cheering for you & Fabi.
Been watching all your games live. This one def had its ups & downs but it’s great to see you come back when it mattered most to get the W.
Appreciate the recap vids. We’re rootin’ for you 🤙🏼🍍
Amazing to have commentary from a player right after a game in this ultra high level setting. Thanks Hikaru
Ian vs. Hikaru is going to be so hype, potentially the most impactful game of the entire tournament.
Bet it's a snoozefest
Ian gonna play for draw.
And he might get it.
@@lalit8895Ian cannot play for the draw, because he needs a win. Next and last two games are huge and he is 3 ways tied in 1st place. If he draws against Hikaru, there might be chance Gukesh wins both his next games or chance he loses against Fabiano as he plays black pieces. So for Ian it is crucial to win against Hikaru
@@takibaysultan Yeah, if Ian draws against Hikaru with white, he *needs* to win against Fabiano with black. But Fabiano really doesn't lose often with white. Let's say he gets that dub anyway.
If Gukesh beats Alireza and draws Hikaru with black, it's tiebreakers between Gukesh and Nepo (Nepo probably wins)
But if Gukesh beats Alireza *and* Hikaru, then Gukesh simply wins.
If Hikaru beats Gukesh? Tiebreakers Nepo-Hikaru.
If Nepo draws both Hikaru and Fabiano? He's out if Gukesh beats Alireza and draws Hikaru, he's out if Gukesh draws Alireza and beats Hikaru, he's out if Hikaru beats Gukesh.
If he draws both those games, his only path to winning is tiebreakers (Alireza beats Gukesh, Gukesh doesn't lose to Hikaru.)
The single most important game Ian has left is the game against Hikaru. It's the one he has a chance of winning, and without it, getting first place is a long shot.
Edited a typo
We all becoming Alireza Fans next game.

Thanks for the update and wishing you the best of luck for the final two rounds.
Tied for lead, 2 rounds to go! Letttss goooo
2 suuuper tough matchups against Ian and Gukesh. But fortunately it means Hikaru gets to control his own destiny.
Getting a win against either one of them prob seals the tournament victory for Hikaru.
Hopefully he plays ruthlessly with the white pieces against Gukesh
@@Bryaaammnnn179Nah he needs it to go to tiebreaks
@@rudolphschmidt313 You’re most likely correct cause neither Fabi nor Ian will be playing for a draw. So high chances that one of them ends with 9 points today. But not guaranteed. It wouldn’t shock me if they end up in a drawn position even though it would end both of their tournaments
Playing like a boss. Great job Hikaru - you showed mental toughness by keeping your head in the game after blowing your initial big lead. Respect.
So glad I caught the event in person yesterday and today. Rock on buddy. Totally rooting for you

sooo good to watch your recap! best candidates tournament ever. Thank you so much for this!
This coverage is amazing Hikaru. Thank you so much, never found chess quite as engaging as I do these days, good work dude.
Remember, Hikaru and Levy put exchange French in "garbage opening" tier in the "Chess Opening TIER LIST for GMs" series back in 2020. Now Hikaru played this opening which definitely caught Alireza by suprise
There is an inverse relationship between "garbage" openings and "studied" openings.
It was Alireza who played the French. Lol.
Garbage for Black... the entire french is garbage for black, I just can't stomach blocking in that bishop
@@milankotevski1663 But exchange French is the decision made by white with exd5
@@drakebilowski7557 1.e4 e6. That is the French opening. Btw, the guy I replied to has deleted their comment, so there's no point in debating.

Can’t we just take a minute to appreciate all the hard work Hikaru does for us. He not only has a candidate’s tournament almost daily, he even takes the time to record and edit a recap of his game for us. I was going through a very difficult time and your videos really helped me get through it. Now im in a much better place and I really hope you win the candidates cause u deserve it.
Great game Hikaru - well done - loads of us here rooting for you mate
Congrats on the 3rd straight win! You’ve been incredible to watch this candidates along with the other challengers. Watching your opening ideas and novelty moves has been so enjoyable and in my opinion really crushes the narrative that computers killed chess as you play unheard of never seen before and unimaginable ideas right from the opening instead of the standard mainline Sicilians QGD or spanish. Goodluck to a strong finish in the tournament.
Best case next game :
Hikaru - Nepo 1-0
Caruana - Prag 0-1
Abasov - Vidit Doesnt matter but my prediction 0-1
Alireza - Gukesh 1-0
I don’t see Nepo loosing to Hikaru anytime soon.
@@its_maalikI think it’s very possible with the run Hikaru is on. He has the most confidence coming into this match. Although I would still bet on draw.
Hikaru is with the black pieces.. So it's perfectly fine for hikaru to draw
The chance of Nepo, Gukesh, and Caruana all losing next round has got to be minuscule
I think Hikaru is gonna play for a draw, there's no need to push with black to potentially loose the game and the tournament with it. Hikaru also needs to keep an eye on gukesh who is unlikely to win against alireza. Yes alireza has had a bad tournament but he's got the white pieces after all. Trying to overpush is just too much of a risk for gukesh. So I expect 2 draws out of those two games. I also don't think nepo is gonna push too much with the white peices because the same risk of loosing the game and the whole tournament with it aplies to him as well. It wouldn't make much sense for any party to risk everything. The only one who is gonna go all out is caruana.
Loving the recaps bro. Thanks
Dude!! Fun to watch you play! Continued good luck!
