- Despite Khalil Roundtree standing in front of him at UFC 307, it seems Alex Pereira has set his sights on Dricus Du Plessis with Dana White celebrating that. But why isn't he fighting the biggest threat to his light-heavyweight title?

Dude saying nobody was picking hill or jiri is completely delusional
Facts
literally all of twitter and TikTok was picking jiri
A lot of ppl were picking Hill including myself & will pick him in rematch if it happens. As far as Jiri, don't know 2 much.
Dude sounded like he was going to cry the entire time lol
I do believe Jason was talking nonsense to boost the algorithm. Chael Sonnen style.
Why is bro taking it so personally? He legit sounds like it's him that lost the title shot 😂
This is very ironic considering the amount of Alex Pereira glazers that take any criticism towards Pereira as a personal insult 😂 Sure, I don't agree with everything the dude said, but he also had some good takes as well that most of y'all are ignoring.
@@johnsmith-mt9ob I agree with all his points but I don't care cos Khalil vs Alex is violence personified so I'd rather see that
@johnsmith-mt9ob all of his points were based on a false idea though.
Everyone is making Ank out to be this big test of Alexs wrestling..
ANK ISNT EVEN A WRESTLER.
I feel like Jason watched the Jan fight and that's it. Ank stands and bangs in every single fight. He only wrestles when he's starting to get pieced up. And by the time he panic wrestles with Alex, it will be too late. Those legs will be messed up and that chin will be checked. Period.
No body is glazing Alex. Hes earned the hype. Fought 6 times in a year and a half. Fought nothing but former Champs at 205 and has made them all look normal.
Ank has ZERO top 5 wins and looked incredibly average against Jan.
Idk why we aren’t pointing out Alex has fought 3 fighters in his divisions top 5. I’m not saying he’s not being protected, but to say it’s more egregious than the Jones situation is just silly.
He's not protected tho.....he's fought 3 times on short notice they don't fight protected fighters on short notice.
@@jimberry5318 I do not think anyone is suggesting that Alex is being protected from short notice fights? I don't understand how fighting short notice, contradicts being protected from a specific matchup?
@@patricknez7258Why didn't the "specific matchup" accept the short notice title fight? Why did Ankalaev believe he can pick and choose when and where he can fight when he has no belt or leverage.🤣🤣
It depends on perspective but yeah I would agree. Not making Stipe vs Sergei when JBJ got hurt was absurd.
Also it's not completely clear that he's ducking Ankalaev, he's just calling other people out instead of him. Also, I've seen Pereira state that he has previously agreed to fight Ankalaev, but with Jones it's 100% clear that he's ducking Tom. Jon has never even been close to considering fighting Aspinall

And "Jiri was coming off an injury, I bet with 14 days notice he will make the weight with ease whereas Alex won't and this time around he will be much better prepared to deal with the leg kicks whereas Alex cannot do anything to prepare for the chaotic style of Jiri"

Damn. Jason lost the plot
Jason really discredited jiri and Jamahal heavy.
MMA fans loves to discredit Jamahal until it's time to hype up their beloved MMA daddy Pereira. This is so hilariously ironic
Jason is using hindsight to predict the past:
-people thought Jamahal might have beaten Alex so badly they were saying "Bruno Silva gave him trouble and got to a decision, Hill will show how different LHW power is"
-Jiri had a year away but in his previous fight he submitted Alex's master and had such a advantage on the ground we all considered the option that he would just Jon-Gane/Tom-Arlovski his way into a victory as soon as the bout with Alex started
-then everyone said "in 14 days notice? Nah, Alex is dying to make the weight and Jiri was flirting with going to 185 so he will 100% be in better condition"
Ankalaev had two calls offering him a title shot, the 300 main event and 303 short notice main event, he declined both
We don't need to read too much into things, just keep the same narrative before and after events and we won't be having these arguments
It’s funny because they made a video saying people underestimate hill.
Ramadan is a personal choice to abide to and others shouldn't be forced to adjust everything because of that.
And then the dude just shouts "So you discriminate against him because of his religion!!!!!"..... dude what a fkn loser. Putting words in peoples' mouth like a beta. And he just stayed shouting over people the entire time too. What a douche.
Pereira isn't ducking anyone, he's welcoming all fighters within an 80lb range lol
He isn’t protected. Ankalaev refused because he wanted to fight in Abu Dhabi. The UFC has never stopped Alex fighting anyone. You guys are just yapping
We all know how much Dana hates fighters turning down title fights and now Ankalaev has done it twice, that plus Ankalaev is literally the only Muslim fighter without a sizeable following, guy brings almost nothing when I comes to engagement
Nope
Ank said anywhere Alex started saying ankalaev is not smart and ducked him
But ankalaev is not the champion so why would he get to pick were to fight
And he has another fight booked already
Alex fought on short notice like 3 times.....that's not being protected
"He's only fought strikers" always gets me. HOW is it the champions fault that the top of the division is primarily strikers? It isn't! Also, the mindset that Pereira just KOs Rountree because they're both strikers is ridiculous IMO. Rountree KOd Gokhan Saki who is arguably a more accomplished kickboxer. What if Rountree shoots a double leg and pins Pereira for 25 minutes? It's an unpredictable sport that has sooooo many uncontrollable aspects. You can say the UFC is protecting their champion, but we can't blame Pereira for it. Also, most champions I've seen don't call out the contenders. If Pereira had a fight scheduled against Ank, no doubt in my mind the man says yes. Otherwise you'd have a pissed off Dana White at a press conference saying "Pereira doesn't want to fight" and if it got THAT bad of refusal, they'd be forced to strip the man. These takes you guys have had lately have not been my favorite at all lol
Beating Saki is impressive and he was a great kickboxer, but let's be real. Saki was 6'0 with a 73 inch reach, fighting at light heavyweight. He was a welterweight/middleweight fighting guys way bigger than him.
@@almarro5643 what’s funny is Jason’s argument is ank is dangerous because he’s a “grappler” in reality stats and fights show clear as day he’s a slow mma striker. He has low grappling stats and really is no threat. As you said mma is indeed unpredictable I could completely eat those words but that being said his argument for who he wants to fight for title is weak. Same with the reasons why
@isaacbmx7821 this narrative that Ankalaev is some high level wrestler is so bizarre. Like you said, if you look at his stats/ watch his fights, he's not a grapple heavy fighter. He's a Master of Sport in MMA and Sambo, not wrestling. And has stated multiple times he's not going to try and wrestle Alex. And watching his fights, he's not a crazy good wrestler, he's probably on the same level as Jan.
There really aren't any wrestlers for him to face either. Ankalaev is not a wrestler, and has said multiple times he's going to try to KO Alex, not wrestle him.
@@gophukurself420thank you!!! Finally other people are saying this .
I truly believe people are either A. Stereotyping Ank because of his name / home country. Or B. They've only seen his fight with Jan.
People need to stop shipping Ankalaev as a wrestler. He mainly is a stand up fighter, that has used offensive wrestling. But by far he is not a wrestler.
Go watch that Jan fight. He shot for his life
They even asked him about this Matchup and he said to Glover (I might get the wording wrong but still) "don't waste your time teaching your student to wrestle, he won't need it. I will go out there and stand across from him and knock him out." He has the same gameplan as everyone else, yet that's being conveniently ignored to say he's the biggest threat.

I told y'all Jason's takes are always hella misinformed and just runs off of emotion.
The biggest fallacy is that Ank is a wrestler. Hes not lol. He panick wrestles when he starts to get pieced up , which when fighting Alex, it will already be too late lol.
Lmao the British dude was saying essentially “why would Alex turn down roundtree” since it’s an easier fight. Jason goes “well it’s happened before” and the British dude repeats “but why would he” and Jason audibly got stumbled and had no rebuttals. Instead of admitting that he just says “but that’s not the point, the point is it HAS happened before” no it’s not bro the point was Alex has no reason to decline that fight and he had no counterclaim to that😂 Jason just always has to be right dude somethings off with his ego
They should never let Jason sit down at the table again😂
I could not disagree more. Alex is willing to fight whomever is willing and able. It's not his fault that some of his opponents aren't willing to step up when called, because he's done it several times. If Ankalaev really wanted the fight, he'd have had it already.
Look how many fights Pereira has taken last minute just to save a card, then when someone gets a chance twice to fight for the belt and change their whole life they turn it down.
Holy fuck Jason was insufferable in this straight putting words in peoples mouths
Please remove Jason from the show. What an idiot, Jon fought one guy at HW and is ducking the CURRENT INTERIM CHAMP. Stipe hasn't fought since Ngannou and it was a loss. Khalil isn't the best fighter at LHW, but he's at least on a 5 fight win streak AND Alex has already fought Jan, Hill, and Jiri. The situation isn't the same AT ALL and he knows it, but refuses to accept it because he got blasted after the last pod
Protecting Alex??? But Ankalaev turned down the fight Twice already. He said multiple times he didn’t want to fight until the end of the year. Absolutely nobody thinks Alex is ducking anyone
I think when you’re on your 4th title fight in less than a year. You deserve to call your shots to a certain degree. He’s literally the most popular active fighter. I don’t want a LHW champ fighting twice every 18 months exclusively in Abu Dhabi and Saudi.
He's the champion he doesn't call out contenders. He's calling out other champions
Jason is just hating on Alex at this point. The champ ducking the interim is much different than Alex taking what the UFC offers him. Quit strawmanning and obfuscating for Jon. 😂
Bro on the far right conveniently ignoring that ankalaev wanted the fight in abudabi, you don't get to choose where you fight the champion as a challenger ffs
Wow almost like the English fighters like fighting in England, Australians in Australia and french in France.....
What makes it worse is that people are making up stuff about Ankalaev turning down the fight twice.
@Era-lk1lo makes sense for a champ......a challenger shouldn't get home field. Especially Abu Dhabi because for certain fighters they will cheat the weight and the judges lean towards them.

So asking Ankalaev to take a short notice fight is unfair to do just because you saw Belal do it. But expecting Alex to call out a challenger is fair because you saw Izzy do it with Yoel?
Y'all acting like Dricus ain't a good wrestler lmao
Did that guy just totally forget Alex fought Jan? This argument is actually so stupid.

Khalil TS is bs, but people are acting like ankalaev clean the division like Rob or Holloway and thats even a bigger bs
Alex has more wins over the top5 of the division than Ankalaev has over the top10 (4v3) and is the most active fighter on the division while being the champion
Let that sink in
Khalil being worse than stipe is incredibly dumb. Khalil is on a 5 fight win streak including top 10 wins. Stipe’s last fight was more than 3 years ago and was a devastating KO
Jason is too butthurt he’s being delusional now
Poatan has been THE single biggest figurehead of the entire company over the past 2ish years. He has saved the UFC’s bacon multiple times recently, and the Rountree fight is pretty obviously the UFC throwing him a bone for his troubles. Here’s another PPV main event, with an actual full fight camp, no late notice BS, with a favorable stylistic matchup. It’s also THE perfect main event for a Salt Lake City card, because the odds are extremely low that the fight will last long enough for the altitude to make the fight slow and ugly. This is quite simple, Poatan is getting a favor here, and the Ankalaev fight will always be there in the future. It’s not that big of a deal…
ankalaev has turned down pereira TWICE because the fight wasnt in abu dhabi, the ramadan excuse is BS, plenty of muslims fighters have fought during ramadan. even if you grant him that one it only explains him turning down ONE of the two offers.
so no, refusing to fight ankalaev on ankalaevs terms is not ducking nor is it the UFC "protecting" pereira.
what source is that from? you guys just made this up and ran with it lol
Ankalaev is absolutely trying to dictate where to fight like all of the dagastanis do
Since no one is reporting that but UA-cam comments I doubt it 😂
Nah islam also didn't fight because of Ramadan fighting whilst on that kind of diet is dumb, it makes absolutely exhausting. Plus it's possible Ankalaev did want the fight but UFC did some behind the scenes shenanigans like with the Volkov vs pavlovich fight.

I like Ankalaev, but, obviously the media won't make "CHAMP WANTS TO FIGHT GUY THAT NO ONE CARES!!!" as a headline when in the same video he talked about the interest in fighting another champion
The fact that Pereira don't speak english has many things that he wanna say in other light
The guy has english subs on his channel but I think many people outside portuguese speakers don't go there to see whats he is saying and just see the headlines
yeah, and Jason forgeting that Ankalaev did not want to fight Alex 2 times. Which he just ignored it and focused in the first one using Ramadan, which is pretty fair excuse for him. But what about 303? That is a reason Ankalaev has not complaine about this, actually kinda defended Alex
He ignoring that Pereira was'nt supposed to fight in 307 is other thing. Pereira made it clear he wanted to fight in november, so Ankalaev could wait to fight him then. But Islam has a injury, which made Alex get out of the couch to save another event.
Ankalaev CHOSE to fight in Abu Dhabi over fighting Alex.
And Alex was either not fighting till Ankalaev was ready and have a 6-7 month lay off or fighting now, savint an event and then against Ankalaev.
I understand Khelil is kind off a ??? fight, but was either that or no fight
Jason literally did not LISTEN to the other cohost answers. He had a answer for everything, even his own questions. His opinion is if Alex can defeat Ankalaev THEN he can do whatever he wants
This dude is acting like Ankalaev didn’t just have the most boring title fight ever and then had a no contest and knocked out a guy that gets knocked out by everyone 😂
Alex might be the only fighter id trust to hold two belts simultaneously and actually defend them. Dude is ACTIVE. He's not ducking anyone. Let him do what he wants.
Imagine him at heavyweight with no weight cut. Bro would be on every card 😂
Bull takes all around...dude is a menace and does not care who he fights
Jason, why does Periera, the champion who is defending HAVE to go to Ankalaev’s own country, with his own commission, on the date when Ankalaev requests it? Why does he deserve more say than the champion? It’s ridiculous you’d make Alex wait for the perfect scenario on Ankalaev’s terms only.
I'm really not trying to pile on here but "The Khalil fight is even worse than the Stipe fight" is insane to me. Khalil is a ranked active fighter, Stipe just came out of retirement.
I think most people are smart enough to acknowledge that Magomed is a very good fighter who probably should get a title shot. The problem is that the fans simply don't like him. His performance against Jan and how he behaved after and now coupled with him turning down the fight and trying to call shots like he's the champ have made him unpopular with fans. If you are a contender and you are offered a title shot you take the fight simple as that. Unless you are so injured you can't possibly fight you don't turn down a title shot no matter how short notice it is.
People really act like there aren’t people making legit and thoughtful cases for why every single one of Alex’s last like 4 opponents were going g to be the one that finally exposed him. Chael Sonnen picked Roundtree.
Jan: he would do the same he did to Izzy but Alex has even worse ground game + very polished countrer striker with a lot of power
Jiri: if he submitted Glover he would do the same to Alex + LHW and weird fighting style
Jamahal: the best boxer in the division who just dog walked Glover + if Izzy can KO Alex Hill who has a lot more power can as well
Jiri: being short notice would favour the lighter fighter cause they have 14 days to make weight + Jiri would be healthier now than the first time + Jiri could learn how to deal with kicks while Alex couldn't learn anything since Jiri us "too wild to be studied"
As soon as he beat them everyone changed their minds to "we could see this coming from a mile away, this was a perfect matchup for him and there was no way he would lose" 😂
That reaction shot at 5:24 sums all of this up
Rountree, who is riding a recent multi fight win streak, is a worse fight than Stipe, former champion who is coming off a loss 3 years ago and is 2-2 in his last 4 fights? I strongly disagree.
Y'all gotta stop talking shit about Rountree to make your points.
i dont think alex is ducking or anything its just the UFC blocking ankalaev but at the same time ankalaev has been offered and declined it for abu dhabi but hes the challenger he shouldnt be able to choose location
0 evidence that he declined. get that man meat out ya mouth..
Nope
So many contenders have taken title shots on short notice if ankalaev doesn’t want to do that then that’s his problem not Alex’s
Brutal watch. I feel like they forgot Dustin vs Islam when Dustin was coming off a loss. No one said Islam was ducking arman even though he fought a month before. And we all knew Islam was going to beat a striker.
You guys realize that Ankalaev himself is making it as difficult as possible to book a fight with Alex
If he woulda just waited and not taken the Rakic fight he coulda been in there with Alex 😂😂😂 Bros doing this to himself at this point
“Can you really expect Ankalaev to take a short notice title fight”
The champ he is trying to fight is a short notice title fight king, he should have taken his chance like Pereira does.
Alex said yes, and magomed said no. Then they had fights lined up with other people. Alex has already said he’d fight magomed. And there’s no comparison between the champ in one division not yet fighting his number 2 contender and the champ in another division consistently saying that he will not fight the guy holding the INTERIM BELT. Not to mention pereira is fighting a guy on a winning streak, while jones is fighting an older retiring fighter coming off a loss and a 4 year break.
Jason seems delusional. Also ignoring the fact that Ankalaev only wants to fight in Abu Dhabi. Challengers don’t make the rules.
Jason is insufferable to listen to in general, but especially when people don’t agree with him.
He's not calling out ankalaev cause he turned down the fight and wanted it in Abu Dhabi, Alex is the champ and ankalaev doesn't call the shots and not Alex's fault that the ufc needed him to fill spots and messed up timelines.
Jason is literally the most annoying on the team guys

I completely agree with Jason that Periera should be fighting Ankalaev, however I dont think we should be blaming Alex for hunting for the most lucrative fights available.
Not while he’s also defending jones for fighting stipe.
@@Alcarazboy11 what? No one is defending Jones vs Stipe here lol
@@SizzlingMMA @3:03 - "if you don't get it from Jones's perspective...." he is defending Jones' side, which is fine in itself but don't say Jones is ok for waiting for that sunset fight while crapping on a dude who's fought 5 times since Jones last fought is ridiculous.
Especially with - - - - Jonathan Dwight Jones[1] (born July 19, 1987)[2] is an American professional mixed martial artist signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)---Alex Sandro Silva Pereira[1] (born 7 July 1987) is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist and former kickboxer.
They are the same age....Jones is getting too much leeway from a guy who's crapping on another fighter not guilty of half the shit Jon has done. Jason is wrong here, and he needs to step back and look for some objectivity rather than trying to be a heel against the hottest/most popular fighter right now. Find another hill bro, this ain't it.
@@williamkelly8951 I missed that part. I agree with you that Jones should also face criticism for not fighting Tom.
@@williamkelly8951Saying you understand it, is not defending it. Those are two separate things.
Again I find myself unable to sit through one of this videos.. and again it's Jason's shit takes and inability to have a civilized conversation that did it..
Judging by the comment section you guys should probably have a talk with him before his high horse gets any higher and he tanks the entire show.
Ankalaev keeps sabotaging himself with shitty performances and talking too much. Pereira steps up and takes risks, Ankalaev gets draws and decisions and cries about it
Why is Jon Jones old and gets a pass when Pereira is the same age?
Like Obviously Pereira is likely not long for this sport and is looking for the biggest fights and best legacy he can in the short amount of time he's got to do it in.
And as for Ankalaev, he had his shot and he blew it with Jan. Since then he's got a win over Walker, thats it. Are we really arguing that because he doesn't get 2 title fights in 4 fights, which would be 2 shots in 3 fights if he hadn't needed to do a rematch because he ilegally knee'd Walker the first time round, Poatan is so "protected" and Ankalaev is being done dirty?
Does he have the hardest matchup style wise and is the most highly ranked fighter he could fight? Yes.
But he's had 1 win since his last crack at the belt. I'm happy if the champ wants to fight someone on a streak longer than that, even if that person has a more favorable style for him.
And he turned down a date too. Like, this is on him.
Can’t have a MMA pod and not know wtf you’re talking about. Ankalaev turned the fight down already
Dude on the right is unbearable 😂
alex called him out for ufc 305 and ank never said a word about it
Saying what pierrara and Jones is doing is the same is absolutely batshit crazy, Alex has saved so many cards! Jones has held up a division for 2 years
Bro is talking for fans, but fans in the comments say otherwise lol
Bro is talking for true fans of MMA...
@@harsha1989able true fans of mma want tournaments with no weight classes and time limits, not cringe islamist who is borring and fights once a year
😂
You know what bugs me? this narrative that Ankalaev is some how the guy who not only is gonna test Alex but beat him because of his "Sambo" background. Lets ignore the fact that Ankalaev strikes more than he grapples, lets ignore the fact that no one cares about Ankalaev and the mass of fans aren't calling for that fight, lets ignore the fact that he only wants to fight every 10 months , lets ignore the fact that Ankalaev has 1 win in 3 years. No, lets just keep sitting here pretending like his "Sambo" background which he almost never uses is gonna be this big time advantage for him and he's the "Real" test for Alex Pereira.
I do appreciate the fact Alex did an instagram video addressing Ankalaev very recently
He had a 15min video on his channel adressing fans and telling us steo by step what he plans to do with his career
The guy literally said he wants to defend against Khalil, defend against Ankalaev so he can put this bs to bed, move to HW and then keep on building his LHW legacy
Aside from Jon saying he is fighting Stipe and leaving right away I've never seen people be more upfront about their plans 😂
That guy on 100 right Ankalaev is the one and only legit contender right now at 205!!! UFC protecting Perreira soo hard. Ankalaev also opened as a huge favorite like 1 to 5 against Perreira thats why UFC never book that fight
Oh man the whiny boy strikes again here we go
Someone complaining about someone being "whiny" in the comments section and not seeing how ironic/hilarious it is will never not be wild to me. 😂😂😂
@@kyletucker3811 haha let's not call out whiny people coz it's whiny hahahaha haha bro
What's the dude's problem shouting and interrupting his apparent friends every 3 seconds.... They over there trying to find common ground to agree with you and you just sit there shouting "YEAH YEA AND AND" like dude settle TF down.....
calling jiri a easy match up is a wildy bad take
Lmao it’s funny because these are the same type of people who probably picked Jiri to beat Alex😂😂😂
The idea that one can skip a fight because of a religious choice. And the champ is supposed to follow their schedule... Goofy as hell
Jason out here arguing with MMA math 😂
Why we downplaying DDP like he’s an easy fight for Alex? Alex has called out DDP who has yet to lose in the UFC and has finished most of his fights. DDP is a monster in his own right and is a very dangerous match up. DDP does way more for Alex’s legacy.
Ankalaev will lose just from Alex kicking his legs.
Or Ankalaev KO'd him just like how Izzy sent Alex to sleep 😂
So do we not understand that Ankalaev said he is only going to fight for the belt in Abu Dhabi?
He tried to call the shots and got burned for it, good on Dana
I know this isn't the time but.... We NEED Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall 😂❤
Its always appropriate to demand whats right lmaoo
@@MrJman967 👍👍
Holy hell Jason let the man finish a sentence!
I don’t think Alex fears anyone or is being protected from Ankalaev.
half the people picked jiri and hill even though i said both would get slept people were saying theyre 50/50 seethe ankalaev fan
Most active UFC champion possibly ever but he’s being “protected” lol
Sometimes you guys have the dumbest takes on MMA.
It’s basically just Jason.
@@Alcarazboy11You are right, I posted that after initially seeing the thumbnail. Watching the video now, Jason is insufferable.
Edit- He literally just said Alex should have turned down the fight vs Rountree… I take it he would have been happy with a Raquel Pennington main event at 307? This guy is the worst, how does he have this platform?
@@ohlord3650Well, it is Jason’s company after all.
"Since when is it expected to take a short notice fight?"
I don't know, maybe when the champion who have more to lose and still took the fight? Maybe when someone like Bisping who won the belt with a short notice fight? Or maybe when Nate Diaz and Justin Gaethje absolutely proof their worth with their respective high profile short notice fights?
If you're not willing to take the opportunity when it arrive, why expect them to knock on your door first when they are handing out the next one?
Jason about to cry glazing russians
Lmaoo bro goes from saying that Hill and Jiri would beat Alex and are both underrated to calling them mid 😂😂😂
More protected than Jones? You are fucking kidding us
At least Jones fought all different styles of fighters back at LHW. Pereira's entire UFC career has been protected. Just a list of somewhat good MMA strikers vs a 2 division Glory champ matchups
This would be a compelling point if alex was inactive but this is his third fight this year and the other two fights were against the former champs
