- This was topwater frog fishing paradise in some tiny little natural lakes in Michigan. Crazy action and so many hits on the @BooyahBaits pad crasher jr. Fish after fish once i figured it out. No big ones but tons of little guys were willing to hit.

"Feel like a *genius* up here" 😂 I hear ya man.
We have a thing in Michigan that we call “up north” - there’s basically a line that runs across the state east to west that goes roughly through the city of Clare.
If you’re south of that it’s mostly water like you’re fishing and warmer-water rivers and streams. There are of course outlier trout streams to be found, but it’s generally true. Mucky or clay bottoms in the lakes generally…. Mostly going to be panfish, bass, and pike in the lakes, unless they stock walleye in them…the rivers will mostly be smallmouth, pike, walleye, carp, and catfish.
If you’re north of the line, then you’ll find more rocky bottom waters and cooler-water rivers and streams. You’ll find more lakes with trout in them as you go north. Still going to be largemouth in the lakes, but the smallmouth start to dominate as the lakes get deeper and cooler. Of course you’ll have panfish, pike, and whatnot as well…
This is spot on. 👍
just came here to say the same thing.... michigan is oddly just like that, you dont hit the rocky, sandy lakes till you hit that midpoint
oh thats so interesting, thanks for the knowledge, I will just have to do another trip but further up
Man. Would love to sit down over a Mountain Dew and talk about fishing creeks. I'm just starting to explore creeks. Next time your in SE Michigan. Check Hines Park in Wesland. Tons of water and challenges.😊
Clare, when I came up to MI, that place has a pretty sweet hotel. One of their big, grand affairs. Great breakfast. And thats my experience in Clare. The center of the mitten
once again John you have completely entertained us with your sheer enthusiasm. There is nothing better then seeing some fish being caught and hearing the joy and excitement in someone's voice when the bite comes on. This is why I continue to watch your channel and I always will.
You're an entertainer and a fisherman all in one video, and that makes for outstanding content that you can not take your eyes off of.
God Bless and GO KATS!!!!!!! Keep fishing and filming and we will continue to watch. your channel is sure to keep growing as long as you never change. You are the real deal buddy and that is rare.
I appreciate the fact that you thank God for where you're at. Your channel gives you a great platform to be a fisher of men! Keep it up.
Believing in God doesn't make you a good person
@@snopuncx15 I believe you're correct...
James 2:18-19 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder.
@@FinTherapy I don't want any made up words from a fairy tale aimed at me.
To be honest I've been watching your videos a long time and this video was one of the best ones you have made in my opinion. I think you should start doing some more frog fishing since this video was so good 👍
i have been trying a lot more since this happened
@@CreekFishingAdventures Okay great 👌
Have you ever fished in Dayton Ohio? It is on the way to Michigan on I-75. Would love to see you fish our rivers . We have 5 that run through town. Check it out.
Watching your videos got me into fishing and improved my game tremendously. I used to go out and catch nothing or very little. Now I catch more and enjoy the whole aspect of my time out there. It's been a huge outlet for my sobriety brother. If you think about it man, your helping people make their lives better in many ways. God bless and keep up the good work bro. Shine on.
This is my " decompression " time. After working in the hot sun of the day, I can relax as you explore new territories. Thank you for your videos! I live vicariously through your work!
I love that I can watch and support a brother Christian.
Another great video, thank you.
Do you not watch or like fishing videos from non Christians?
11:25 "These guys mighty not be big but, they sure make you smile." Awesome adventure!
I am also a Christian. Love your channel! I watch every video.
The hardest part of frog fishing is allowing the fish to swim off before you set the hook. They’ll hold it like a worm- have confidence to let them eat it and you’ll hook up a little more. It takes nerves of steel!
So true! I always miss the first hookset when I go frogging. He was working it pretty quick too. In my experience that leads to more misses. All my best bites usually come when I let the frog sit a while between pops.
It's fun to watch him discover the joy of frog fishing. Now I want to see him make a trip to fish with NDyakangler!
You slay ‘em with the Bubblegum swirl dinger but…the frog…this has been one of your most fun to watch. 🤙🐠
The Small pea size weed floating on the surface is called Duck Weed. Fun content!
Love watching your show John! Your humility, sense of adventure, gratitude, and of course ... the fish. May God continue to bless you!
I am 75 and love to fish when ever I can. Love it that are in Michigan fishing. So happy you are having a good time.
I have always appreciated the scenery of your river and creek videos, but these lakes are stunning in their own way…all that vegetation, so rich and full of life. Great video 👍
So glad you are having a wonderful time in Michigan! We have wonderful fishing up here! Please visit again soon! God Bless!
At 19:58. There is a fish beside your boat right after the big one takes off
You're reaction to catching that first frog fish cracked me up cause I pretty much felt the exact same way when I caught my first frog fish ever earlier this year.
thrilled to see you use this video to display your faith, your an inspiration to lots of people that you don't ever even know about. I don't miss a single one of your videos because I love the scripture at the end, some how it always seems to fit the need in my life so well. odd how God works sometimes you and I have different ways of fishing, but I enjoy watching you and your videos' I am glad God has blessed you, so you can bless others.
John i love your happy giggle when u hook in!
All that grass and pads just made me excited to get out and catch some more Snakeheads....that area looked like a perfect area
John. Thanks. I'll be watching your vids as long as you keep making them. You always deliver a good time, you're always grateful for whatever you catch and your enthusiasm is contagious.
Great video John I love frog fishing!
Living the dream. God is great! Thanks for taking us along, John!
Another excellent video! John, there's a great deal of diversity in the fishing of Michigan. You've got the deep lake fishing, the trout rivers of the north and the many thousands of lakes. A person would need to spend a lifetime to adequately sample what this beautiful state offers to fishermen.
Great Job Sir. Love your channel and have watched a lot because I visit Tenn. Born, raised, and live in Michigan and couldn't believe it when I saw you fishing up here. Never tried a frog due to lack of confidence. This inspired me to try. Also, please keep sharing about your faith. It inspires me and hopefully others. God Bless you.
Well, we’ll, look whose gotten good with the bait caster! Great video John, probably one of my all time favorites. Keep ‘em coming!
Gotta give it up to you. Your enthusiasm etc. It's fun. Top water is a blast. Thanks 🎣
That lake looks amazing and very bassy. I’m drooling just from watching this vid.
I’ve been recently going through a few of your playlists rewatching several vids since it’s too cold to fish. These videos are enjoyable to watch as they were the first time. Thanks John for keeping things interesting and real brother 👊
The green floating cover that looks like a green mat is duckweed.
Super common up north. I'm in the Ottawa area up in Ontario, Canada, and we have tons of it. The water where you're at looks a lot like rivers and lakes around here.
Quick question about your Old Town. What length is the blue one and also the orange/yellow one that you use? I'm considering switching from my canoe to a kayak and have been shopping around a bit but don't know if I want a 126 or a 106. Edit: LOL! Should have waited until the end to ask about the kayak. I thought the blue one you're using is the 106. I'm guessing the orange one is a 126.
Love the videos! Keep up the good work!
I just got the 106 with the Minnkota motor, but not the spot lock. I really like it although it’s heavier than my old Sun Dolphin 12’ . I’m getting older and the motor will allow me to stay out longer, plus my knees aren’t that great.
@@marthamitchell9452, I run a MinnKota on my canoe (sometimes), which is an Old Town 156. Depends on the water I'm fishing. If I'm targeting weed beds, I tend not to set it up and just paddle. The canoe is super stable for stand-up fishing. If the water is more open, I use the trolling motor a lot more.
orange one is 120 and this blew one is 106, The 106 is about 10% less than the 120 in about everything, stability, size, weight. Im 6-4 and am very comfortable on the 106
@@CreekFishingAdventures, awesome, thanks for the reply! I'm only 5'10", so the 106 will be plenty, then! I was interested in the lighter weight of the 106, as well. Just easier to drag around, etc.
John, with frogs slow down and try to get them on the pad then pop it off the pad and you will get the strike. the fish follows the frog from leaf to leaf . All so on lakes throw it on the shore and slowly pop it in the water and let it sit. a bass will see it fly on land and get ready to strike when it hits the water. have fun.
That’s exactly how we frog fish for snakehead which are like those bowfin blowups and fight but even better!
I'm glad to see you getting on some frog fish buddy. Those booyah pad crashers are my favorite frog to throw. Your gonna be hooked on that topwater frog acton now lol. 👊👍
Love the channel! I know it’s a grind but I’m thankful for the quality content that you create! Also love that you’re open with your faith!
As fast as you’re working that frog a Ribbit would probably done awesome on those fish!!
Appreciate not only the top water catches, but the thankfulness attitude. It's always a blast and a blessing to be out on the water. You inspired me to take my GoPro along with me on my adventures. Tight Lines!
You are right about that fishing just wasn’t what I thought it would be , I had heard it was great fishing there it wasn’t !
We have that "pea soup" covering those creek inlets where I'm from, here in new England we call it duckweed 🌿🐟
I can you are having a blast man. God bless you and your family and have great time there......🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
Just bought the exact same pad crasher Jr. and a scumfrog. It was meant to be. You were smashing em , John. What a great video..God is good!
We have alot of this type of fishing in New Hampshire love the frog 🐸
Nothing like the topwater bite to get the ticker thumping !
Your having to much fun for one guy. Great to watch.
Glad to see that you’ve mastered the bait caster! Really enjoyed this video!
Absolutely love your videos. No place I'd rather be than in outside in nature especially fishing. God Bless.
Good looking place for crappie nibbles Jon!!!
Bowfin are my favorite great water fish!
Love your testimony, brother. Love to see this excitement in fishing this area. You were like a little boy on Christmas getting a bike. This was one of my favorite videos from you.
The pea soup is called duckweed. Sometimes it can be a real nuisance because it can completely take over a waterway.
so much fun. top water bass!!!!
Up here in this area everything freezes over in the winter. It's actually like a purification process. You got rid of all the old water and a lot of new water comes in in the winter and spring. Same is true everywhere that water flows but it doesn't freeze in lower elevations and 2 or 3 months out of year in the south. there is so much new life that is so noticeable where not so noticed in warmer climates.
thats interesting
Great testimony presentation, thank you for sharing. John.
John is to fishing what Bob Ross was to painting. Both are passionate about their craft and dedicated.
Lived in SW Michigan for 25 years….. loved fishing the 3 lakes there… favorite was Puterbaugh… especially the far end - lots of pads!
That type fishing is the best in my opinion. By yourself, taking your time, “FISHING”.
MAN what a awesome time and great frog time for sure. One of my favorite ways to get bass is top water.
Another great video! The tiny little floating plants are duckweed. Duckweed can hold a lot of fish, but it can also be the bane of your existence! Be sure to wash your kayak off real good before you head home or to another unconnected body of water...it can be super invasive. Stay safe!
Duck weed and the swans, ducks, and geese love it!
You're pretty good with that baitcaster for never using them. Those Pad Crasher Jr's. are pretty light.
Great video again. Any time you see the party boats docked you know you will connect with some bigger water somewhere. We considered getting one so all the dogs could go with us but they can be a bit harder to launch and load and there’s nowhere here to rent a slip to leave it in the water.
I love watching your videos, especially cause I love fishing creeks too
Welcome to michigan! Glad you made it
This is an old school John Dalton adventure . In a NATURAL pond ,that has not been stocked ,in Michigan . Makes me so happy to se you enjoying our home state . I still say ,look for some land for a future summer place . There is no better spot in summer . You would never do the same creek twice , but you’d want to. Two Hearted River in the upper peninsula is amazing . Sigh .
You need a pocket frog from live target for all the small creeks. They are tiny and can be fished on spinning gear easily!
John, I'm a Michigan transplant now living in Tennessee. Michigan has close to 13,000 natural lakes. Tennessee, based on my research, has ONE. Ya gotta go further north in Michigan (northern Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula) to really understand the incredible fishing opportunies. Tight lines!
You hit it again. You have a nack for figuring what they are looking for. I think alot is you have a little help from above. He likes you buddy. You have a friend. God blessed you
Great video John. Keep up the wonderful work!
Awesome video! Would love to see you go back there to try and get that bowfin again!
I love how excited you get!👍🤙🤣
Love your video awesome catches!!!!
Great fishing, John!
I’m enjoying the enthusiasm of the fact of just getting bit! Pretty cool!
Can't beat those days when they're all over the frog bite!
Love the show makes me miss Michigan a lot only during the summer LOL
I have been a subscriber for awhile now, and I really enjoy your videos. What I truly enjoy is when you witness. Plant the seed my friend, let God do the harvest! Thank you John, not only for your videos but for allowing God to use you!
Great video John. That was fun to watch!
Amen John! I see your heart bursting in that wonderful day of exploring and fishing! God is great and your witness is wonderful. Thanks again for sharing!
Awesome videos this week John of your Michigan fishing adventures. God bless and thanks for sharing.
I love this type of fishing
Dude! Loving these rapid fire videos!
That looked FUN! good job.
Its good to see you doing some "up north fishing". Southern Michigan and northern Indiana has some good fishing and its nice to see you in my neck of the woods.
That looked fun!!
Awesome video!!! I love top water blowups! I have been trying to learn the frog as well. I appreciate your videos and how you always give glory to God. My nephew Noah who knew you from TN, told me about your channel. Keep up the good work.
I use to use a weedless chartreuse kick tail frog . Use to have really good luck with it in the weeds.
Your yak looks like taking on a lot of water?!? 🤣
Cool seeing you in my neck of the woods. If you ever get a chance to go "up north" it's more like your stomping grounds.
Great video. Looks like you had a ton of fun
Another awesome vid i bet the musky and northern are all over that place
Absolutely amazing day John. I love the can-do explorer spirit brother. The attitude of gratitude is ever present and genuine. I like most anything biting in freshwater and like us recovering alcoholics say "when life gives you lemons 🍋 make lemonade ". And you remembered the frog video from Aaron and did just that. That's why a few ponds I fish never get old. Might tangle with a big one or two but plenty of willing solid 1-2 pounders to keep it fun and interesting. Blessings my guy and safe travels wherever the Lord leads you.
You may be an honorary Michigander if you stay one more day Bruh!!! Pure Michigan!!! 💙🦌💙🎣🎣🎣🎣
I think the weed the swans were in is called Duck weed. Surprised the swans didn’t come at you with the little one being there. The can be crazy aggressive and been on you with their wings. Another awesome video.
I live in Chicagoland and our family had a place in Wisconsin. I dont have much experience with Michigan fishing but i think youd love an extended tour of all the great fishing Wisconsin has to offer
Ty for the video John, nice to see you had such a good time and great fishing in Michigan. I hear the UP of Michigan has a bunch of great fishing spots.
I moved to northern Michigan in 1999. One of the best things I've ever done. I'm 30 miles south of the bridge. We have some amazing places to fish here. The place you were at looks fun for sure. I'd love to show you some stuff around me. There's pike, bluegill, bass, walleye, and many more. It would be great to see you around Mullet lake, Burt lake, Wildwood lake, Thomahawk Lake. Crooked lake, Pickerel Lake and many more. If ever you want to do that just let me know..... thanks for the wonderful videos.
love your videos keep them coming
What a great day of fishing you had, I know you have had a blast💙🎣🐟🎣🐟
I don't speak for 120K followers, but I like hearing about your sponsors, nothing to be bashful about promoting the companies that help you make these videos happen. I try to support your sponsors and use the stuff that the companies supporting you make.
I’m surprised you didn’t throw any panfish lures just to see! Thanks for another fantastic video. Of all the fishing youtube channels I’ve found one worth really supporting. Gonna buy merch and use your affiliate links.
i did but cut that out
Great video John
Had a lot of fun watching you have fun with the frog. Another great video
