With the half ball (13) and tires (12) in the silicone moulds, I found that leaving the mould with the sprue goo in an airtight jar with a bit of acetone lets the bubble slowly work out over a few days, then remove the acetone but keep the mould in the jar for another few days, and it will come out without the bubbles (ie bullet holes). Basically the bubbles are caused by the acetone pushing out too fast, and if you slow down the evaporation by keeping it in an airtight jar, the bubbles don't form and you get a better finish (but it is far slower). (also; please be careful heating parts glues with CA superglue, as it release cyanide fumes when heated.)
You have recruited me into the Cult of Sprue. Sprue goo is such a versatile medium, I have managed to make sprue bricks(with your coffee grinder trick) and by forming it over wire mesh have created two large projects, a bloodthirster bursting from a swirling well and a Plagueburst Crawler with a slug body instead of tracks. I have several other projects in mind, including basing a whole DeathGuard army and a Diorama of Leman Russ’s vision. I’m incredibly grateful for your videos that totally inspired me.
there is one use you forgot : testing paint : since it's sprues, it's the exact same stuff of the models : so if you want to test if something works, you apply it on a part of dried "grey stuff" and that you won't ruin your model. I discovered that Distress Crackle paint DOESN'T work on this but serves really well as a good glossy varnish.
Well i haven't been this impressed by anyone on UA-cam for a long time and i have just started getting around to building my Orks that i have had stashed away for a few years and you have inspired me.
For years I've melted sprues and stretched them out to make the wire shape like you did at 3:29, then clipped the wire to the desired length, leaving a little bit of the sprue end to make radio antennas. While the sprue is still hot from the melting, you can bend it if you want your antenna to be bent.
This video, as well as your "Sprue Shipping Container" and "Sprue to Plasticard Panels" videos have earned you a new subscriber. Thank you for these videos and insight. :)
Finally I can recycle my old sprues! Been hoarding them (read: keeping them from sitting in landfill for the next 1,000 years) for a while now. Sent you a small box of sprues! I stole some of the nibbly nobbly bits to make a pile of coins though. Thank you for making these videos.
Hi MH-Here's something I do, that #9 reminded me of. When you drill into minis you typically get little spirally bits. I save those up and them as flock for grass or Spanish moss. When I'm running low, I just grab an old sprue and start drilling away.
Great idea - combine that with some of those "cables/wires" used as vines, and the sprue shavings, trees, and foliage, and you've surely got something that looks really organic and natural for do-it-yourself swamp terrain.
Hi there, watching a program for kids there were some creepycrawlers and i though it could be a fun project for your sprues, a big woodlice animalwar for orcs or something like the ones in "Naussica" the movie by Miyazaki but turn into rides for hordes. Aniway pal, cheers and take care! Interezting channel BTW!
Im late as hell, but this is a great video. Im recently getting back into the hobby and went hard with more for my chaos army inculding Angron and a Knight ill probably never use. Two new armys for my sons, Dark Angels and Necrons. Then tons and i mean like 15 sets of terrain. I knew a good chunk of this but learned a good bit of new things and ideas! Thank you!
I really like this compilation video. My favourite uses for srpues are numbers 39, 32, 26, 23, 15, 9, 7, 6, 5 and especially number 29. Love it! Keep on doing this amazing work. Greetings from Spain!
Hi chap. I’m just getting into table top gaming . I’ve been watching countless videos on how to make terrain. You are the only one I have found that uses sprues in such interesting ways. You sir are a genius. Great content. 👍
Absolutely fab. I swear , you show this to a 14 year old and they'll be so inspired the next thing your house will burn down!!! 😂😂 Hehe no but seriously what a fantastic list of ideas. And so much better than sending this plastic to some horrendous landfill. The tie fighter was amazing and I could take a bite out of that burger!!! 😅 Really well done , I'll be keeping an eye on your channel for sure.
i was getting ready to take some conical trees i bought from the dollar tree (from their Christmas stock, not the glittery ones) and put together a few foresty sections, but i couldn't find anything to add that would make them look right aside from some sheet moss, so i think your plant idea will do just the trick to add some texture to my project :)
I really like Warhammer - played dozens of videogames, read some books. Just like it. But i never got into this whole miniature stuff - Binge watched your Sprue Videos now xD Just fascinating what you´re doing out of scrap! SUBBED!
#18 ( 21:37 ) - those wire/cables also look to me like... Tentacles/Tendrils Vines Worms/Snakes Rope (better if you can find a way to texture it) Stems for alien plants (would work well with the foliage trick, vines, a variation on your tree trunk, and some sort of creepy flower for Triffids!) Straps/Bands (lay lines of those cables out on your nonstick tray and roll them flat; should go nicely with your barrel trick, cannon, pipes/tubes, etc.) #3 ( 43:13 ) those awesome bricks look like they would work as... Metal Ingots, Gold Bars Wishing Well (when built in a ring, like the tea-light campfire ring) #31 ( 13:00 ) - those tubes/pipes look like they could use "elbow" bends, which could probably be made by rolling some of the ooey-gooey-spruey stuff into tubes of about the same diameter, bending, and cutting them. Use the flat bands (flattened wires/cables) to hide seams... # 11 ( 33:50 ) - combine the PVC glue-and-tissue trick with basically a short table (#17) and you've got some nice crude beds with blankets, and I bet the ooey-gooey-spruey stuff can be quickly and easily hand-formed into a pillow, too... This video is full of great stuff, but for some reason, my favorite, as simple as it is, is the bottles trick: that one would never have occurred to me! It's genius - makes me wish you had some clear/transparent/translucent plastic to do that with!
I have about 10 kg of sprues (and counting!), may melt some of more awkwardly shaped into large sheets (those rollers are amazing!), some fancy into tree trunks and branches, some into bricks, more angular save for terrain.
Hi I had a few questions about the gooey stuff, once its melted do you have to use it relatively soon, like within a week or can I just let it sit? also is there any safety precautions I should be aware of, like do i need to wear gloves or be in a well ventilated area? otherwise I'm a big fan and really excited when I collect enough sprues to start making larger projects
yes well ventilated area is a must as well as gloves as theres probably fucked chemicals in said melted goo. Im not sure how long it stays that way, probably as long as theres acetone still in the solution.
Acetone is some nasty, nasty stuff, definitely use with ventilation, and I'd suggest gloves. I don't know about how long the solution lasts, but since acetone is a solvent, I'd assume it will last until the acetone dries out... then just add more to dissolve the plastic again. Sounds like it's worth testing out to see what happens: at worst, you'll be out a small jar of nail polish remover and some sprues, which I would imagine won't be trouble to replace....
Fantastic video! I'm curious, can you re-ooey gooey the sprue plastic, like can you just keep putting the panel trimmings back in the acetone or can it really only be melted back down the once? Thanks for this, it's so inspiring!!
I'm sure you have discovered this by now but in case you haven't - Yes. You can de-melt/dissolve trimmings of solidified Ewwy-Gooey-Spruey-Stuff back into the jar just fine. I actually find it returns to the gal state faster than 'virgin' sprues.
I’ve been looking for the rollers you used in making the brick pattern on the melted plastic on Amazon using your link. I so far have been unable to find them could you tell me what to put in the search box to find them. Thanks for your help!
These are brilliant! Question for you: will acetone-dissolved plastic work well with Oyumaru instant mold? PS: I've been making cobblestone bases, and I love them!
The parts or bricks you used for #15, the bricks, I thought the angle you cut them on the ends, these bricks could be painted gold. They look like gold bars/bricks.
What about a sweet sprue dice roller, or dice box? You could really get creative, show off your talents. These are awesome vids but if love to see you show off what u could do with it while putting effort in!! (Not to say your freehand ork models arent insane man) That might be very cool though to see that!!

I just got into Warhammer, and I have saved all of the sprues from my 2500 points of orks. This is insanely useful information

@@Bobdd0 same tbh

I remember catching that trick in a hobby magazine dedicated to military models back in the '80s - it's an oldie, but goody!
@pietrayday9915 It's at least 20 years older than that.
This video, as well as your "Sprue Shipping Container" and "Sprue to Plasticard Panels" videos have earned you a new subscriber. Thank you for these videos and insight. :)
Love the video! What a creative way to not waste sprues, and less plastic going to the landfill is always great too!
Thank you so much =)
Finally I can recycle my old sprues! Been hoarding them (read: keeping them from sitting in landfill for the next 1,000 years) for a while now. Sent you a small box of sprues! I stole some of the nibbly nobbly bits to make a pile of coins though. Thank you for making these videos.
with your trick of melting down sprue, I just made the ice for an hoceky ring! (would have costed me WAY too much in Green stuff).
thanks, mate!
I really like the small terrain pieces and props. The larger things are great as well but the smaller things just add the details I like to see.
Yup its also because of the smaller things Im able to big the bigger builds =)
Love your take on crystals! Definitly going to use this one!
nice idea to put all those ideas in one video with timeline cuts!

From here on after I will call everything in my life either one 1. Ouey goey spruey stuff, 2. Nibbly nobbly bits or 3. Hickily pickily.
the grass effect at 36:00 is AMAZING.
That campfire one is brilliant
these are so useful because it gives me inspiration on what i can add to mocs.
Thats awesome =)
Every time I hear MOC I think of Bionicle
46 minutes? It wasn’t a good day at first, but it is now!
Thats cool to hear, I hope this gives you some good ideas =)

this is... the best. i have literally hundreds of these guys taking up about 3 boxes (large) and now i can put them to use

Definitely going to use some of these tips. Me and my friends don’t have many things to use for terrain. So these tips will come in handy!
Yup sprues are great for rubble and frames =)

Brilliant use to things most model makers throw away. Well done sir!
Absolute TOP of creativity! great job !
Great techniques! Thanks for compiling these.
omg you are so clever im so happy i found your channel this has been so so helpful thank you
Sprue candles what a great idea! its like extra plastic to work with
This man has master the art sprues building.
Just awesome. I used to build scenario from sprues about 15 years ago. But this gives me the urge to start again. So many awesome ideers.
Brilliant, love your creativity!!
Spree’s turned into awesome pieces
Was kinda skeptical on the cobblestone at the beginning, but now I'm gonna try it.
Absolutely inspired by your creativity and imagination 🙏 great content as always
Awwwwww.... once again, thank you for the credit and including my little plant idea 😊😊😊
Love, "Urbdreg" 😉

SUBBED!
holy Hannah a massive compilation! this wont stop me from re-watching all your older videos but im glad you've made this one all the same
Thank you, this just makes it easier for people as it has chapters now =)
Ive been using the goop to make sculptures and action figures, super cheap and effective sculpting material
This was amazing. You didn’t need to go so hard- 40?? Daaamn.
i subscribed as you told me sirXD Thanks for so much inspiration i took the sprues several times fopr some things but so much new ways to reuse them
I made my first project with sprues recently, it was a music stage for our dnd battle of the bards...
That sounds awesome =)
It was fun. It ends up taking up a 4"x4" area of the tavern, which is just the right size for a little quartet of mini minstrels to rock out.
Sprue goo. Nice.
I absolutely love this
The "Ooey gooey sprue stuff" we called "sprit" back in my day
MAN !!! I thought I was resourceful. I’ve got 12 years of sprues in the loft and they are getting booed up this weekend.
Great video, what type of glue do you use?
Excellent!!

dude you are a star
Jack of all Sprues!!!
Yup master of none =)
just great stuff man!!
Can you reused the yellowed acetone to make more goo? Or is it pretty spent after first use?
sprue genius !
eres un genio, felicitaciones, muy buenos tips

so relaxing to see... and sooooo much good tips again ! great vid !
thank you, yup just put me on in the background lol =)
The base used for #39, was that a prodos games base?
Not sure, I got them off amazon =)
Oooof, so much to make now.
Is the acetone reusable or safe to dispose of?
Awesome
Another idea for the long wires is cutting those into smaller rivets.
@Miniature Hobbyist, where do you find your plastic glue? And, if u dont mind this question, aproximately how much do you pay for it?
How long does ooey gooey sprooey stuff keep in the jar?
this is amazing
not sure about putting those in the oven though.. wouldn't that leave toxic fumes that could go on your food that goes in the oven ?
The burger...😂
Just asking can we see yr ork army
At the moment I dont have one, I am working on a Star Waaaghs army =)
These are brilliant! Question for you: will acetone-dissolved plastic work well with Oyumaru instant mold?
PS: I've been making cobblestone bases, and I love them!
Xin chào 😍😍😍
at no 2, I was "how in hell can somehting be better thant "anything". At number, I was like " well, obvioulsy. well, played sir"
I made a building skeleton with sprues and glued cardboard on it
44:20 looks good :D
I like youre ideas
Thank you so much =)

Damn it, just foundthisvid and threw away most of my sprue last week cause I rhough it was just taking space
