    best board ever. i have two of them and have a hard time wanting to ride any of my other shortboards. it lights up in good waves i don't understand why people usually relegate fish to junky waves.

      100% Agree. They need to ride one of these, they'll stop writing off the fish

      Totally... Any reviews that start with fish is for mushy waves are just copying the old script. Clearly people are starting to realize they rip in most conditions.

    What size would you recommend for a beginner/intermediate surfer, surfing beach breaks that are usually pretty crumbly and soft but can get steep at times, 5’6, 155 lbs?

    How about re-potting that plant on the right. It needs more dirt... Unless it's plastic.

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  4 роки тому +5

      It's a fake plant.... it would be weird to put dirt in there

    What are the dimensions of this board?

    Hi! I was thinking of getting the FISH in 5'8 (I'm 6ft tall and weigh 165 lbs). How performant would this board be for me in slightly bigger waves(Let's say 5ft-6ft tall waves...) and how good would it be for me overall? I'm an experienced surfer and been lately riding a 6'0 shortboard 27 liters. Thank you!

    • @wolf-yw9wk
      @wolf-yw9wk 4 роки тому

      if you are looking at getting a fish even in higher liters you would be fine on a 5'4" a 5'8" would be way too many liters unless you're looking to add. or split the difference and get a 5'6"

    • @edoardocarosio

      wolf I’m 6’0 and 150 lbs ,what size do you suggest ? Right now surfing 27lt on my shortboard . 5’2 or 5’4?

    • @wolf-yw9wk

      @@edoardocarosio for me personally most of my boards are 26-27 liters except for my fish which is higher. i have a 5'4" fish because i ride it in good waves and like to get into larger waves earlier and be able to set up. i love the paddle power of it and the way christenson sets his rails lower they are very sharp and responsive so even though you have more volume. the board itself is more repsonsive than any other like it. i think at this point we have become too driven by the liters, i thought the same before i got it years ago, i was thinking it would be too much float etc..but i actually like the extra float because i think about the waves i'm surfing it in. places that have weird flat spots and sections u may not make with less foam you are flying through and connecting sections or peaks and getting longer rides. it will be probably be one of the fastest boards you will ever ride. what you could do is make sure you look at the dims because they are all not the same. you will see 5'4" fish but dims may be 21" wide 2 1/2" thick etc and many other sizes in that range..
      i would look for a 5'4" 20 1/2"x 2 3/8" so you still get a little more knifey edge to it. i personally like the extra foam because it opens doors to a larger array of waves that can be surfed. it can be sticky backside but once you get the balance just right ur good to go. i'd suggest getting both sets of fins. the captain fin keels and the twins. i use the twins when the waves are good and i want to get a quicker pivot rail to rail. the board has a ton of speed so you trying to pump it like a short board slows it down. he shapes his boards so they do the work not you. drive off the front foot and just trust the board. when i first got mine i tried to "work it" until i realized to just let the board do its thing and i ride this board 75% of the time even in overhead surf i'll be flying on this thing sitting deeper than everyone so i can get in early and not deal with 15 guys trying to paddle battle each other, i'm up and blasting past the section they are avoiding before they are even paddling. i have a 5'2" christenson as well but i still find myself grabbing the 5'4" for a little extra rail line. long winded hope this helps. also if you are looking for something fishy but more high performance check out the c hawk by him as well.

      @@wolf-yw9wk what size would you recommend for a beginner/intermediate? I’m 5’6 150 lbs, usually ride a 9’6 CJ Nelson Neo Classic (I love that board) and a 7’6 CJ Nelson Outlier (which I really like as well). My local beach break is a soft crumbly San Onofre style wave. I’m debating between the 5’8 and 5’6, I’m 41 now and like having extra foam to paddle easier.

    Hi guys, I’m 19 and have been surfing seriously for 3 and a half years. I'm 6 ft 185 pounds. The type of surfer than I am is intermediate. I can surf well, but I need something to ride, I cant ride or pick up smaller waves, I need a larger wave for me to go on and ride, also I don't necessarily "cut" well, my style is more of just carving and enjoying a wave. I'm not explosive at all or an "advanced" surfer. I came upon this video and think this board is really rad. Would this be the right type for me?

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  6 років тому +1

      A Fish is a great style of board to surf at your skill level and will continue to be a great board as you advance. The Christenson Fish is one of the most well-made Fish on the market and definitely a board to enjoy and be proud of. What boards have you been surfing? The Fish paddles really well but I can help get the sizing dialed in if I know what you are currently surfing. All the best, Ashlon

      Hey! Thanks a lot for the reply! I learned how to surf on a 7’2” Pesce Gunner. However I’ve been surfing a 6’7” Campbell tri-fin surfboard for the past 2 years.

    Hi ! Great review !
    I was thinking of getting that Christenson Fish for summer conditions on the South West coast in France (Basque country)
    I'm 143 pounds / 5'8" height.
    I have a 5'8" dumpster diver ( 29 liters. ) for small waves at the moment. For my skill level, I would say a good intermediate.
    I hesitate for the size, do you think that 5'8" would suit my weight and skill level ? What is your advice for that Christenson fish ?
    Thank you !

    • @sebastienriso5747

      Or do you think I'd better go for a 5'6" ?

    • @user-eg7nj1is7l
      @user-eg7nj1is7l 5 років тому

      @@sebastienriso5747 volume is alot at intermediate and beginner levels. the 5'6 is around 31/32 litres i would say. 5'4 is around 28.5/29. I think youd be safe on either of those. I got mine in the 5'4 bc i knew it was gonna be a board that made me want to surf more and better, and youre gonna keep it for a really really long time. its gorgeous!

    Hey dude, great review as always... I surf a 7'6" flat tracker and looking at one of these as an alternate. I'm 5'11 and 185 Pounds, intermediate surfer and this ones mainly for beach breaks... cheers

      Hello Andrew, Glad to hear you are stoked on Christenson Surfboard. I see you inquired about a 6'4 on www.REALwatersports.com. We have a 6'4 in stock right now and would gladly send a shipping quote. Can you please email REALpro@REALwatersports.com with your address and everything you would like to order? We can send you an accurate shipping quote with this info. As for sizing, the 6'4 is a big board for you but will paddle nearly as well as your Flat Tracker. If you want to duck dive with this board and surf more powerful waves you should consider sizing down to the 6'0 but if ease of use and a high wave count is the name of the game, by all means, go with the 6'4. Cheers - Ashlon

    Hey man, cool review ! I do have this baby in 5'8 and love it, still a twin so the more relax and smooth you surf it the better it will ride I found compared to a shortboard ! I was looking at getting a puddle jumper for small mush wave but a bit scared they will overlap even though i tend to find that the christenson works better in clean condition.

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  6 років тому +1

      They are different boards for sure, The Puddle Jumper will handle small mush better and it surfs more like a performance shortboard than your Fish. Cheers - Ashlon

      Actually, I surf the rocket V3 in 6'1 35L (i m 185pounds, 6'1 height), you reckon the puddle jumper should be ridden same volume (volume more compacted then) or higher volume than my V3 anyway ? I know it s not about the Christenson but would be great to have your opinion/feel. Cheers!

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  6 років тому +1

      Since you will be surfing the Puddle Jumper in smaller surf you should add a few liters for extra paddle power and glide in small waves.

      We can't say 100% as they vary but the 6'0 is ~40L. If you have a desired volume we can definitely set you up with the dims to closely match it. Give us a call (252)987-6000 or write REALpro@REALwatersports.com

      Hey Caro, it works well in fast waves. We are located on Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. It's a very fast, barreling beach break, we've tested the Fish here and thoroughly enjoy it. They are super fast, hold well and paddle great. Shop our inventory here: www.realwatersports.com/surfing/surfboards/christenson/fish

      Hows going backside?

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  6 років тому +1

      Really good for a fish. Christenson's Fish bottom shape creates lots of lift that makes it easy to keep a highline and build speed even when surfing backside. Cheers - Ashlon
