Used it a few times before with great success. I now have an acro dominated tank and was on the fence about using it. Then your vid popped up. Just dosed it now so will water change Wednesday morning. Fingers crossed.

I've never had issues. Just be sure to get a lot of extra air in the tank!

I'm generally not a fan of quick fixes, but sometimes cyano can hurt coral that would otherwise be fine.. so sometimes a quick fix is needed while your tank stabilizes.

Can you help explain some of the common causes for cyano? I have been considering Chemiclean to help resolve an ongoing issue with cyano, but don't want to use it unless I can address the underlying cause(s) as well. Many thanks!

It is usually an imbalance in the tank overall. Over feeding is a common cause - too much organics in the water. It can also happen the other way though - too little. Cyano is very adaptable and it'll grow if the tank gets out of balance either way. There's a ratio in general to follow called the Redfield ratio for carbon, nitrogen, and phosphate. That's the idealized ratio you can use to sort of base your own tank's chemistry on. Stay safe! I hope this helps.

thanks for the guidance. What airstone creates those fine bubbles?

Love the video (the sound was out of sync fyi), but very concise.

I'm sorry for that! I didn't notice it before hand. Sorry!

Everytime I do this, I get dinoflagellates right after. Any suggestions?

It doesn’t have an effect on the bio filter brcaus they are gram positive versus gram negative bacteria

Interesting. I didn't know cyano differed - I think most of our tank microbiome is gram positive right?

ReefMan I believe so. That is why your bio filter doesn’t collapse.

Can you leave it in tank longer than 48 hrs if you still see some

Do you feed your fish while using chemi clean ???

What large airstone are you using?

I was told not to allow air bubbles inside a saltwater tank

They don't do much really. My coral never seems to mind some small bubbles.

So do i leave the skimmer running without the cup for 48 hours along with the air stone?

    • @ReefMan
      @ReefMan  3 роки тому +1

That's what I do. That provides the most air into the tank. Your skimmer will overflow anyway most likely.

Thank you, i got a spike of cyano from the cycling process but my nitrates and phosphates have been near zero for three months, so im kind of suprised this stuff is still lingering. Seems to be real bad anywhere the light penetrates. I may try to keep the lights off for 48 hours also. Thanks again!!!
