      Michael Suder Should be Show Creators or showrunners.

      Because they're creators of the TV show Game Of Thrones, and they are the only ones. That's how it works in the business, has for a long time. besides, is the author of a book not very typically referred to as exactly that, the author? You know exactly what they're talking about in this case. Nobody who watches the show has ever been under the impression they invented this themselves as an original story.
      You're pissed off because you were disappointed in the final season, and I'm not saying at all that I don't understand how you feel. But that's irrelevant to what you're trying to make out here.

    Can I just say how refreshing it is to hear an interviewer who knows what she's doing. Can we get her to school some of these entertainment reporters who try to ham it up? This was so interesting and she's so respectful but engaged them. Thanks!

      Yea, the "go-to," lately, for interviewers who don't know what they're doing, is playing, "never have I ever," lol or making them do novelty tricks like, "the mystery box."
      But, usually it just devolves into an unwatchable cringe-fest lol I actually find myself skipping 90% of cast or crew/creator interviews altogether after seeing the first few minutes.
      Most of them are either filled with questions they have answered literally thousands of times already, or questions that will never illicit any information even resembling useful, let alone interesting.

    Violence in a medieval setting. Hmm....what a new and fresh concept.
    But too much violence no matter what is bad right? I know, Sir Gregor Clegane and Oberyn Martell for instance, should have had a bowling match or played the best out of three matches of ping pong instead.
    By the way, before anyone triggers, these are all sarcastic remarks.

    5 minutes in: Benioff: "We went into it with no experience in television whatsoever...We didn't have any production experience, so we came in kind of knowing how we wanted to write it, but not knowing anything about the casting process, the editing process, working with visual effects, working with production design, or all that stuff that you need to know, and it's been a steep learning curve." ---- *Over six years into this project, are you still waiting for the learning curve to "kick in"?*

      Seppe Van Beneden wow the most normie response imaginable. If The Dragon Demands was in their position, yes it would be an objectively more compelling show! Any asshole can snort a bunch coke and shit out the kind of scripts Benioff and Weiss do while ruining a perfectly good story. It would take someone with actual intelligence to adapt a quality version of ASOIAF something the majority of book fans could handle much better than these drunken douchebags! The only thing that sets them apart is they beat someone better to the punch. I wouldn't even rule out a remake in the future, perhaps something animated even. It would be far better than this pandering garbage!

    I don't really care what people say, to me, they've done right by George's books to the best of their ability and I have tremendous respect for the both of them. Considering George's books were designed to be unadaptable, I consider what they've done an incredible feat. Now it's not to say they haven't had a few hiccups, even they've admitted it(in this interview XD) but they do love the series and I have huge respect for bringing the series to an end and not using it simply just as a money machine. I wish them all the best in their future projects.

    • @Striker163videos

      +baddogonline I understand what u. Ean, but I disagree, the thing about the 5th season, which had the main issues imo, was that they were (long term) planning it out before ADWD had come out. I don't think they grew bored, I just think they had a lot of trouble adapting two books(which were meant to be one giant book originally) that also had a lot of issues of their own. Dorne was a whole other issue, they didn't actually want to go there in the first place and no excuse for that, but as for the rest it kinda came down to this. Were they do completely adapt both books with 100% faithfulness, it would end up being 3 maybe even 4 seasons and I know that might sound awesome at first glance, but the pacing would become incredibly slow, to the point where it would drastically hurt the show(mainly because television and books generally have a different narrative structure).

    • @Striker163videos
      @Striker163videos 8 років тому +1

      +baddogonline think about it, like even tho they adapted it into one season, which I think is a good thing because it allowed the really good storylines to move along fluently, they still had to think up their own climax to the series because the books had issues and the big climax that was meant for AFFC/ADWD got postponed. Instead we got Hardhome which is arguably one of the best additions to the show. S6 had issues to *cough cough Arya, but I definitely didn't believe they were bored, especially after the last two eps which were just some of the best eps of GOT we got since S4/Hardhome

    • @Striker163videos
      @Striker163videos 8 років тому +5

      +baddogonline as for plot holes, ya there have certainly been plot holes, I can def agree with you there, but for me nothing has been to inconsistent or damaging to ruin the series for me. Also I personally hated the Quarth storyline of S2 just as much as Dorne. S2 actually had more issues than S6 in my mind, *looks at Jaime, but it still didn't ruin the season, I loved it as I loved all seasons.

      @What ? For the Baelish/Varys scenes, did you never feel that Petyr revealed a bit too much about himself for the conversation to be consistent with his character? I enjoyed the dialogue and exchange as much as the next man, but I don't see book Baelish ever having a conversation, where he reveals crucial details about his nature.
      As for Bran....well, why did you dislike that chapter? Bran having his first "vision" of the 3ER, being told that he has a major role to play in the coming Winter, and knowing that he is alive for a reason was quite an important scene. That chapter still gives me chills when I read it.

      I also feel D & D did a decent job making the show. I didn't start watching until 2015 when they were almost 5 seasons in. Before that I'd hear of it here and there but never paid much attention. When I eventually took notice, there were three clips that convinced me I had to binge it from the beginning ASAP:
      The Baelish/Varys talk in the throne room
      The Cersei/Jaime talk when Jon Arryn died
      And then subsequently confirming my suspicion a few moments later when they were caught f**kin!
      Without the intrigue of these scenes I probably wouldn't have picked up the books either so kudos to D & D. It's a fine show.

    I think that the representation of rape in the show is one of the most important things that they've done. They're not using it as some sort of artistic nude painting like some criminal shows do, but they're putting it there realistically for what it is. This is a reality that women have faced for all of our existence, especially in a patriarchal society, more so in the medieval ages, but still today, and it's important to discuss it. It's the only way we go forward!

    • @Mini-Toast_
      @Mini-Toast_ 7 років тому +7

      Okay there is a difference between portraying the horrible reality of rape, and taking a character who's arc and storyline is butchered because the writers want shock. They take a character who is supposed to have complex character growth, reduced to a rape victim.

    esto lo han hecho desde siempre. Los griegos re escribían sus obras una y otra vez, siempre adaptándolas a las necesidades de la audiencia, sin embargo eso no hacía una obra peor o mejor que la anterior, hacía dos obras distintas.
    Canción de hielo y fuego es una gran obra, y Juego de Tronos también, son distintas. Es injusto compararlas como una derivación, porque si ese fuera el caso podría decirse que George RR Martin no respeta en nada la obra de Maurice Druon. No son adaptaciones, son re invenciones.
    Agradezco a estos hombres por traer series de calidad a la TV, y a George RR Martin por reavivar el género fantástico literario de forma original, que desde hace años se venía dedicando a "reinventar" a Tolkien.

    • @Mini-Toast_
      @Mini-Toast_ 7 років тому +4

      Look obviously the show is not going to be like the books. They are two different mediums. You can tell complex story and create much more elaborate worlds in books because the limit is literally your imagination. You can not do as much in a visual medium. There are budget constraints, and more importantly time constraints. That is why so much gets left out of the show, like the complex Dorne storyline. So cutting stuff is not the problem. The problem is these two writers. The ONLY reason they added Dorne into an already packed season, was because they got Indira Varma to play Ellaria. They have admitted in the past they are huge fans of her. They loved her in HBO's Rome. In fact they were aspiring for Game of thrones to be the next Rome when they pitched the show to HBO back in 2009. So knowing they cast Varma left them starstruck. But the problem was they did not just want her playing Ellaria, which they thought was too minor a role for her. They shoehorned in an entire plotline from the book which they didn't plan to have because they knew it was too complex and difficult to include in the show, just because they got Varma. And once they got her, they showed her off like a new car. They gave her Ariannes storyline of wanting revenge, war against the Lannisters. They wanted to showcase how well Varma can emote. So they gave all they picked out the coolest scenes from the book and gave them to Varma. That scene where Ellaria pours the wine when they are toasting to peace, that was supposed to be Obara. It just shows how these writers were not concerned about motivations that made sense for the characters or served the plot. They just wanted to show off an actor. And that may not seem that bad until you learn they are even more incompetent. If you go look at interviews from the rest of the crew working on the show, you see they had to bend over backwards to make Dorne work. That was because of the limited time and restrictions they had on the location of filming. It was actually a museum that also happened to be a Medieval islamic castle. But D and D were so excited to film there that they didn't' t care about how restrictions would strain production. They had seven days to film there. They could only film during the day, and nothing could be done on location to accommodate for the cinematography. According to the crew, these were not things they considered, or even cared about. This puts so much stress on your director, cinematographer, choreographer, and costume designer. To go through ALL that shit for a rushed storyline that only exist to show off ONE actor, is abhorrent. And the battle of the bastards was a nightmare for everyone involved. There were professionals part of the crew telling D and D ( who have gone out of their way to remind people of their inexperience ) that the filming for BOTB would need so much more time. And they just did not care. I will not mention the nonsense of Arya's or the butchering of Stannis's storylines. The show is what it is because f the rest of the cast and crew, not these two. But I can say life sure does imitate art. This reminds me too much of when Robert was in power. You had Ned Stark come in believing that Robert is a great ruler because the realm is at peace. He does not believe when Roberts council tell him that their job is damage control for Robert's excessiveness. We're Ned, D&D are both Robert.

    It's not the existence of rape in a pseudo-medieval story. I'm not a child and have read enough history, and lived enough life, to understand it has happened in all eras and particularly in periods like that. It's the ham-handedness and then totally poor handling of audience concerns when brought up (dismissive, not listening.) My friend said of a scene "Jesus they are using rape as set-dressing now? The Jamie-Cersei scene could have been saved by having Cersei just utter "yes " once (as done in books and as actors reportedly say was filmed) It's THEM,, D&DB not the story or reality of rape, The condescension and poorly handled PR in response to claims that sucked. Still love it, expect to watc S7, though on the fence about being so far ahead of hte books. If it were a totally separate animal as the books I'd be thrilled to have two awesome things, but it's stuff like 'Hodor' being given a way and the goal to end up 'in the same place' that makes me wonder if I'm going to regret it. Also NO SAPOCHNIK :)

      @@stevena.7022 I do understand the disappointment with the last 2 seasons, of course I do, but I also think D and D told the story Martin wanted to tell. They may of lacked the writing finesse, but Danny actually turning out to be 'the bad guy' was hiding in plain sight all along. Had the lads taken their time, they may well of fleshed out the idea of people being seduced by her beauty, while being blind to how cruel she could often be. In any case, I hope D and D can walk the streets now. For a while I'd say they hid away!!

      there are obviously moments that are great, particularly in season six. there was a period when D&D ran out of source material and GRRM quit contributing as much to the show's production around season five when the quality took a major dive. the production value, acting, SFX, costumes, and music have all been great throughout the years. the dialogue, however, is the most tragic aspect in the most recent seasons when compared to older material.

      @zeriyx 5 років тому

      @What ? i could make a similar counter argument that D&D were surrounded by writers, producers, consulting producers, as well as being supported by a multi-billion dollar media conglomerate. meanwhile, gurm solo writes on a flintstone-era computer in a bedroom. the dialogue took a dive, regardless of the reason.

    David Benioff is obviously a talented writer, his ability to create powerful and engaging dialogue and memorable characters is widely acclaimed, but even more so, his stories careen along beautifully and truly shine in both his novels and screenplays. However, I just learned that David Benioff will be writing the screenplay for "Dirty White Boys" after he finishes GOT, which will mark the fourth consecutive piece of work by Benioff which includes brutal rapes and/or descriptions of sexual assault. Starting with "The Kite Runner" (which involves the traumatic rape of the young boy Hassan) then in his own Historical Fiction novel "City Of Thieves" (where Russian girls are forced into sexual relations with German officers) shortly after. Followed by the insanely popular "Game Of Thrones" series (where Ramsey continuously rapes Sansa Stark) and now, Benioff has stated that he will adapt "Dirty White Boys" into film (which includes descriptions of brutal prison rapes between inmates). Maybe it is a very strange (and perverse) coincidence that his career has lead him to 4 consecutive projects that include rape and sexual assaults. Yet it seems that if Benioff was truly disgusted and offended by rape, he would remove himself from productions that continue to involve the subject of sexual assault. Perhaps I am being too sensitive or overly critical of a talented writer (I've read or watched everything Benioff has worked on: novels, short story collections, and screenplays). Despite everything, Benioff's career has been ultra-successful, and the man is very talented. I simply hope that one day Benioff will avoid working on a project that includes rape, 4 consecutive projects is a bit much ; I dread and despise (not nearly as much as I imagine he does) the title in which his harshest critics have nicknamed him: the 'rape-writer'. It is a truly awful title and it would tarnish the legacy (if it catches steam) of an ambitious and talented man; and without question Benioff could write powerful novels/screenplays without the inclusion of rape whenever he chooses to do so. I truly hope he changes his career trajectory and uses his gift on other projects before it is too late.

    There is zero self-reflection from these two with regards to the legitimate "rape as set dressing" criticism--just utter dismissal.

      There is zero self-reflection from these two on any topic, unfortunately, they're much too in love with their own work. However, I don't see any merit in the criticism of the rape scene in Season 5. The one in Season 4 however, is far more problematic.
