I love that color! My friend Mariusz did an N scale Kato E8 in that color scheme and it also looked FANTASTIC.

Colors, I love the colors of all your trains, locomotives, cars, and so forth. As I mentioned on another website the problem they have when restoring trains these days is everything is painted and high glossed, I don't find that back in the day, all the colors seemed flat and perhaps a dull clear put over them, base coat, clear coat perhaps. Those engines and your setup are according to that, great job.

I''ve always preferred the earlier E units with more rake to the front end, but those are great sounding and running diesels. Don't know about that color though...

Got mine yesterday as well as the North Pole Central E8, but that is still sealed in the box, and it is a beautiful and smooth running set! I'd love to find some NYC passenger cars like Chris has. These diesels are huge and challenge the size of my gas turbine. Very pleased I decided to go with these NYC jade green, or in my opinion, turquoise locomotives. Very nice review Chris, enjoyed it.
If you do some online investigation NYC actually did paint the #4053 in the Century Green. It was experimental and NYC excecs did not like it well enough to pay the premium price for the paint. The locomotive is pictured under power pulling freight. Also the body shell is pictured in a scrap yard. Sorry do not have the link.

That blue-green color doesn't really do it for me. However I did get the New York central's from 2019.

Great review! I wanted to order a set of these but with all my other preorders I have I had to pass. And I just had to say I love the sound of the kids upstairs. One day you will miss the sounds of them running above. Keep up the good work!

I am awaiting the E8 Christmas set. From what I have seen online so far, this will really be an exciting set. And just like these, I think Lionel did a phenomenal on the Christmas set.

the color is called "aqua blue" ... it was used on NYC subway cars in the late 60s & early 70s (until graffiti ruined it)
beautiful train! why Amtrack go away from that rounded nose E Unit passenger engines in favor of those more rectangular looking engines?

It's certainly a very impressive sight to see moving on the rails, Chris, but on my pc screen, the colour is aqua blue, not green. Even the photo in the catalogue looks aqua blue. Anyway, a very nice, unique unit and it looks great.
If the color on this locomotive matches the old Lionel 6464-900 boxcar from the 1960's (which is the correct century green), then the color on this locomotive is correct. If not, then Lionel painted it the wrong color.
@@markkilgore938I'm not sure about the boxcar, but there's a picture of these e units compared to the real thing and it's more or less spot on
NYC/PC hospital green, because black looked too good!
Seeing more E8s reviews, makes me happy that the E units are finally getting their love of model railroading.

They look amazing, but they look blue to me, not green in the close-ups. In the background they look more green.
I agree ... these have a strong blue tint compared to century green.

I like e units. You added one passenger car with a different color scheme to this run. I commend you for that. It actually adds a little more realism to the consist. You rarely see a perfect passenger train from that era. There is always one car that doesn’t match. Great video.

Chris, I'm a poor model railroader. You don't have to, but it would be really cool if you had it in your heart to give me one of your locomotives. Particularly the UP U50C from MTH.
