The Percussionist is my Uncle.. Masters Henry Gipson.. My GrandMother 1st son.. My Mother oldest Brother.... But we use to just Call him Uncle Sunny 🌞..
I've seen Master Henry Gipson in Rhode Island with Curtis Mayfield. I've also seen Baba Olatunji in Cambridge Massachusetts at Harvard university. For sure they were the Best Afrikan Drummers I've ever seen in my 66 years of life.
Our mandate is to bring peace and prosperity... but we have this generation. That’s killing are legacy. Gangsta Hip -Hop is destroying our art form. This is art form pure American music.
I grew up during the 1970's it was a great time for me and my family. We had our share of problems but to God be the glory we made it through. Curtis was a unique force during those days and just oved him as well as Jerry Butler and the Impressions.
The Superfly album along with the Isaac Hayes Shaft album are the most well known & recieved Blaxploitation album's of all time, this album has bits of everything, with Mr Mayfield in fine form with some top notch funky Soul choice cuts such as this
This beats all artist in the 21st century, with their FAKE VOCAL BOX, this cats today thinks it's embarrassing to sing haha, little do they know that's where the talent lies, peace, love and happiness!✊
*I WISH PEOPLE STILL MASTERED REAL INSTRUMENTS, DEPTH OF LYRICS AND UPLIFTING SONGS. REAL INSTRUMENTS SUPERCEDE COMPUTERS 🙄🙄🙄AND FINGER POINTING ON KEYBOARDS*
Only thing good about this time is the music. Life was terrible for African Americans Poor Educational System, White Flight, Racism, Redlining and many other atrocities

When times and things were simple and race relations were at a medium... Lord I hate politics, money, and technology sometimes lol
And there was more Black love & togetherness. Too bad that it's just about gone. It's everybody for themselves.
