  • My original fuel pump finally went out. Removed 2 13mm fuel tank strap bolts. Disconnected fuel pump harness. Disconnected fuel filter supply line.
Lowered fuel tank on right side (which is the left passenger side if your head is facing the rear of vehicle).
That’s all. Nothing else needed disconnecting. No need to cut any wires or cut your floor board.

How many miles on the Lincoln Continental you worked on? I have a 1999 with 180,000 miles & a 2002 with 120,000 miles. The fuel pump on both went out between 110,000 & 120,000 miles. Last year for the 1999. 23 years of upper Midwest winters have rusted it away. Man is it nice to see late model vehicle rust free. Nice demonstration. Thank you.

Myfuel pump was replaced at 140,122. But started working i intermittently about 2k miles prior. I didn’t want to tackle this job because I thought it was difficult to drop the fuel tank. Especially since all 95-02 Continental fuel pump replacement youtube videos were doing hack job repairs. I was shocked at how easy it was to drop the fuel tank. Thanks for watching.

i’ve got a 2000 continental and i’ll be getting a new pump for it here soon when you say the right side of the fuel tank, is it the passenger side of the car? or the other?

4:34 The passenger-side is correct. Which is really the left side. But since my head was facing the rear of the vehicle, it was on my right side.
