    1) Remove the negative battery cable. 2) turn off the inertia switch for fuel pump. 3) Start engine. Um... better do steps 2 and 3 before 1.

    Just did it yesterday, just as you did, I only had a problem with the top fuel line coming out of the fuel pump, that line was hell, the tool just would not go into the line, I spent an hour fighting with that thing, finally had to grind the tool a little and got it to go into where it was to go, only to have to take a small hammer and tap it forward and it came out. What a pain in the butt that was. I should of gotten another tool. Hate it when all goes easy accept for one little connection. My Crown ford is a 1996. It has a 165,000 miles and I drive it to Sanford Florida from Akron Ohio and back once a year. ( Snow Bird ) Enjoy the ride. They just keep going and going and going. Also helps if your a back yard mechanic......LOL...Thanks for the infoe !!

    Anyone that is watching this vid, you don't have too remove the tank to just do the pump. 2 electrical connections. 2 fuel lines and the tank strap bolts.

    Awesome video - As I am watching my local mom & pop repair shop is dropping my tank & replacing the fuel tank pressure sensor. They gave me a ball park price of $600 & after watching I am glad I am having it done instead of trying it myself.

      Smart man .. I currently have my car torn apart in my back yard, both tank straps down, the filler neck out, and now I can't get the fuel line off, even with the special tool. It sucks working on the ground, I can't get both my arms up there to remove the fuel line.

    • @midas617
      @midas617 2 роки тому +2

      It's almost impossible to remove the fuel line with the plastic fuel line remover. make sure to use a metal one like the one used in the video. I'm not saying that that was your issue. just in case someone is reading this and that they can prepare accordingly before tackling this job.

    From 7:12 to 8:25, what are those two parts called? I may need new ones but can't seem to find them anywhere. Also, where could someone buy the rubber grommets if they're bad?
    But also, thanks so much! I'm in the lengthy process of finding which fuel tank my car really needs (interceptor/not) and your video has been extremely helpful! Thank you, TRQ!

    I bought a tank from you for my 2011 Crown Vic Police. My old one doesn't have the 2 inch twist in hole for the pressure vent valve. It has 2 1/4 inch hole with rubber grommet. Do you sell the twist in pressure vent valve or at least know the part number? It's too late to return the tank. Thanks!

    I could not get the nuts back on. I took 2 washers and ran a 3/8 tap to thread them. I then threaded them on the studs to hold the studs down. It worked great. Had 3 full threads to get straps on with ease. Wrestled around we trying to get nuts started for a while before doing the washer trick

    You want to make sure the tank is empty. But if the fuel pump has failed you can't pump it out. Would be nice if someone had a cool way to drain the tank and not just say "empty the tank first", if you're changing a fuel pump.

    • @recon1071
      @recon1071 2 роки тому

      emptying the tank has nothing to do with safety unless you are concerned about the weight. Vapors are more explosive than liquid. 1/4 cup of gas with still cause enough vapors to cause and explosion.

    Draining the tank has nothing to do with safety. Vapors are more explosive than liquid. Reducing the weight of the tank might help, but it is not for safety.

    Evap hose coulda been explained much better. Says you can just press this button or tear up the hose with a pliers. Proceeds to remove the hose instead of the obviously easier press tab? Well its clear that tab is a SOB to remove. An explanation on why you skipped pressing the tab would be great.

      Watch a small hole on the back of the plug (or to watch the new plug of new fuel pump so you can do it) then use any small rod to slide through then prying up the clip or just break it while prying because you don't reuse that clip any way. EASY with out dropping the tanh, or you just drop one side about under 1 inch only

    11:36 I'm in the process of replacing the pump in my '03. This connector is the only thing holding me back from having to drop the tank completely. I can almost press the tab to get it loose, but there is just no room to do it. I'm hoping someone here can tell me how much I can loosen the strap bolt on the passenger side before it comes out. 🙏 edit: I've tried various pick hacks without success.

    I just bought a fuel tank for my crown vic and im worried about using it with no baffle sump? I would like some input please? Will the aftermarket tanks blow up in a rear end collision?

    • @Viper81766
      @Viper81766 4 роки тому +1

      The tanks that blew up were impacted so hard that either something stored in the trunk punctured the tank or crushed the tank into the rear end housing causing it to rupture .

    • @Viper81766

      I would believe the severity of the impact and not the brand of tank is what I'd be worried about . I have an 03 former Chicago PD Crown Victoria . Had it for eight years and just hit 270,000 miles . Some of the Vic's we're hit at 80 mph or faster and some were hit by semi trucks .
