37 minutes?? you’re spoiling us fr
Chronological order is best imo! Magician's nephew is my favorite!
lmao I loved the royalty free music xD
Your reaction to the map is so relatable 😂
21:52 HE IS SO PRECIOUS I CANT 💀😍
You deep diving and LOVING Narnia is so dang good. I had these read to me as a kid so I have a tenderness for them and seeing your emotion made me reconnect vicariously through you!
So happy for you that you got to read the dedication to Lucy in the place it was intended - I've seen it floating around the internet countless times, so it's wild to me that you got to experience it like that 😭
I've been to Oxford and not only is it absolutely beautiful, there's also an alley that apparently CS Lewis and his friend Tolkien used to walk own on their way home from the pub or something and there you can find the actual lamppost that supposedly inspired Lewis to write the scene in which Lucy enters Narnia for the first time. And across from the lamppost there's a door with a knocker shaped like a faun aka Mr Tumnus 😊
AHHH you’re literally the reason I read the first book last week!!!! I’ve decided to do chronological too and literally WHY have I never read these before they’re SO good 😭😭😭
Why am I lying I’m doing publishing order… why’s it so confusing what the orders are and which one is the best😭😭😭 I scoured the internet and it seems pretty divided
If you're in the mood for fantasy I really recommend reading Robin Hobbs books. I think you will enjoy her world. Another great series is the Wayward Children (it's a series of novellas) by Seanan McGuire. It's set in a boarding school for children who have been to other worlds and now have returned to the real world.
I love this corner of the internet. Can’t wait to see what your read next!
Love this! Love the commentary, love the escapism, love the joy! Enjoying childhood books when revisiting is such a special kind of nostalgia, love that for you, girl 🙌😍🏹
I read a book that was clearly inspired by Narnia but was about the experience of returning to your world after living an entire life in a magical world, called The Light Between Worlds by Laura E. Weymouth. Would recommend if that sounds interesting to you; I really enjoyed it. 👍🏻
You HAVE to watch the caspian movie. I was obsessed with it as a kid. A lot of it is preparing narnia and going to war, and it's so epic.
We love a boxed set! I got the set of little house on the prairie from the scholastic book fair and I think that’s why I love series now.
Love to come to youtube on my lunch break and see a Whitney vlog. This was fun!
I just saw an article that Netflix has the rights to make Narnia reboot movies and Greta Gerwig has signed on to write and direct the first two movies.
i just know shes gonna serve with it tbh
"I'm obsessed with him {Puddleglum}!" Never have I related to a sentence more
I’ve never read it either but I LOVED the movies growing up too…I have the boxset just sitting on my shelf though
I have been WAITING for someone i watch to read this series so glad it was you!!!!😍
Ahh droped everything to watch this!
I thought i was the only marathoning through the series, glad to see!!!!!
i feel so safe here 😩😌
I agreed with you about all of the books! I read The Last Battle mostly out of completionism
I never stop thinking about Narniaaaaa 😢😅 can't wait for the new Netflix movie series they're gonna be so good. I made a song last month literally called A Song For Susan Of Narnia because my Roman Empire is that he was gonna write a novel about Susan but he died before he could. 😢
This was really fun ❤ I enjoyed this series a lot when I read it a couple of years ago
we love to see it
im gonna have to watch the movie again now. never finished watching it last time (march 16 2020) because my d+ sub ended so literally have not enjoyed narnia since before covid times.
prince caspian was my favourite movie for a while, but ive never watched boat movie properly
Narnia is so good. I rewatched the LWW movie on repeat as a kid. I also read the books in the same order as you! Now I wanna reread them all 😅
Georgie Henley has a poetry pamphlet out with Fourteen Poems ☺️ It's called Amphibian ❤️
screaming all the way to the bank
16:26 that's literally plot of Seanan McGuire's books 😅
37 minute vlog hell yeah
I prefer publishing order BUT having read them both ways I think chronological is more first time friendly lol anyways I'm gonna watch the rest of the vlog!! I have such mixed feels on this series so I'm excited to see what you say 👀
I’m interested in reading the LWW book but probably not the whole series! I always think of “The Wayward Children” series by Sheanan McGuire when I think of Narnia (kids going through doors) and I’ve always been interested in reading that series as well
The last battle is my favorite book in the whole series! Cried like a baby at the end. The first movie is so so so good. They all go downhill from there lol
Omg i love the first book!! It was the only one i read :( but i want to read the rest and your video came in perfect time!!! (But first i need to finish interview with the vampire because I'm obsessed. Really recommend you watch the TV show!!!)
I agree! The show was so good! The episode killed me 😢
I keep thinking about whether I will reread this series! It’s been a long time. My childhood copy has all the books in one!
it was definitely fun for me as a first timer!
i give edmund a pass for the movie turkish delight, that boy had a mad craving for a specific sweet treat during wartime
love feeling like i'm just chilling on ft with you.
Greatvlog i love Narnia the movie. I have the book as well not the whole series. 📚🥤
I love your reading vlog ❤.
0:17 my face when i heard an olivia soundbite 👁️👄👁️ hey girly !!!!
Yassss fupa troopers unite! ✌🏻
i remember reading prince caspian in 2015 and hating it, then i was forced to study narnia through a catholic lense when i was forced to take a religion subject in year 11 lol
For the sake of it making sense, chronological for sure.
Kinda wish id kept my copies to actually read them all 😅 my nephew ended uo with them.
The bit where you talk about how the first books seems familiar but you are not sure you read it- I have that with literally every Narnia book except for the lion, the with and the wardrobe. Like I swear to God I have read them all in middle school and yet I always read the description of one of them thinking 'hmm somehow I think I skipped this one?' And then I read it and I'm still not sure...but like it happens every couple of years. For sure by now I must have read them all, right?
Edit: now im at the prince caspian part, i guess these books are just not super memorable xD
Whitney I love you you are so fucking funny
The way this video is making me want to drop everything and re-read the Narnia books rn... Also if you're still in a C.S. Lewis mood, I recently found out that Katherine Langrish wrote an analysis of the series and reflections on reading the books as a child versus an adult (it's called "From Spare Oom to War Drobe: Travels in Narnia with My Nine-Year-Old Self") -- I haven't read it yet but am curious to!
There's also this dude named Michael Ward who wrote a book that theorizes that each Narnia book corresponds to one of the planets ("The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" is Jupiter, for instance) -- learnt this while going down a rabbit hole myself recently lmao
I'm sorry, but during your wrap-up, I was wondering what those light thingies behind you were...
IT took me a moment, but that is gloriously creepy and hilarious. 😂
wait im sitting here scratching my
head lol. what do you see??
@WhittyNovels First, I thought it was a ghost, then a lamp, then one of your cats, but then I realised it was just a part of your cat tree that reflected the light 😅...
Come to Oxford!
I had his dark materials as my childhood fantasy, I never read narnia but I’ve always been curious, love a religious allegory lol
Netflix is doing a movie series based on the books
i know i’m sooooo excited
I went to a christian school, and these books were apart of our syllabus, so each year we read a book- except we only got up to Dawn Treader. BUT I was one of four, and BC i was third born I HAD to be Edmund and i was sooooo mad about it.
love it!
✨Original Sin✨
Watch the BBC versions of these books. They’re all on UA-cam and so much better than the Disney movies. There’s LWW, prince caspian, VDT, and Silver chair.
The Narnia music thoooo
I miss being a kid too Whitney 😢
I love your vlogs!
Honestly if you ever actually go Oxford pls tell me cause I'd love to be a tourist with you😅 granted I love 20 minutes away but I love the place
Also if you're in a fantasy moment The Magician's Trilogy by Lev Grossman follows a bunch of depressed asshole wizards at a kind of magical graduate school in upstate New York who are obsessed with a book series called Fillory, inspired by Narnia, and they find out its real and go there. They're some of the best fantasy novels ever written imo. The second and third books are more high fantasy while the first book has more urban fantasy vibes. They were made into a fantastic tv show as well. 😮
I didn’t even know there were two different ways to read narnia 😭
All i remeber about reading those books as an older child with some religious trauma was the moment i went "wait a minute, is this about god? 🤨🤨🤨🤨"
❤❤❤
😍❣️❣️
