Loved BCal ... a great airline. My father flew it several times out of Houston to the UK. Nothing but the finest reports from him every time.
I remember back in the 1980s when British Caledonian was a partner of Eastern Airlines. An Eastern Airlines passenger, flying from Miami to London Gatwick ,would connect through Atlanta and onto British Caledonian Airways. My first glimpse of a British Caledonian DC-10 occurred in August 1983 at Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport .My one stop Eastern Airlines L1011, flight 87 ,Miami to Los Angeles via Atlanta enabled me to view British Caledonian for the first time.
I loved the DC-10 as a '70s kid, British Caledonian was always associated with the tri-jet. It was the coolest looking civilian jet back then.
Memories for me.. I remember flying BC in the early 80s. My uncle was petrified of flying but the crew were great in reassuring him!!. I then flew with them as I got older with friends on holidays after saving up every penny I could from my various jobs like car cleaning pot washing in pubs and even cleaning the changing rooms of the local football team on match days!!. Honestly it still remains my favourite airline.. sad it’s no longer flying!!
Many happy memories of flying and then working on their DC10 fleet.
Gone too soon, I never got the chance to see any of them in real life!
Whow, LGW-NAS1995 Carrier DC10 Awsome Crew.... Thank you so much 😘 😘 😘
Nota 1000 o vídeo. Parabéns!! (Brazil)
Flew them twice as a kid. 1984 DC-10 Gatwick to st Louis and back. The coolest thing is since I was only 10 they actually let me go in the cockpit during the flight over the ocean. 2 years later we flew TWA 767 Gatwick to st Louis and they would NOT let me in cockpit during flight. I guess the British version of our FAA or whatever they called it allowed it back then. I still to this day have the British Caledonian playing cards I got on those flights. I really loved the livery colors.
I flew to Calgary Canada in 1982 from prestwick airport with wardair and we checked in at the British Caledonian desk greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I remember B,Cal well. A great airline who looked after their staff and pax
Yes they did I worked for them from 1980 until the takeover by BA great times. BA were good too. just not as good as BCAL.
Great vids ..70's 80's AIR...my dad was a VP with Pan Am Clipper Cargo, my uncle was head of US Customs (JFK>LGA>EWR) & I worked for Flying Tiger Line before it was bought by Frederick W Smith/FEDEX...great airplanes, great mems..Thx hugh McM🙋🏻♀✈

I remember that advert. Used Beach Boys California Girls tune
Back in the 1980's I recall seeing a British Caledonian L-1011 at KIAH (Houston's big airport) taxing next to one of the runways as I was driving by one of the main roads near the airport. The BC livery stuck well in my mind since then.
BCal was my airline of preference. Quality, so I was aghast when BA swallowed them.
British Caledonian was acquired by British Airways around 1987 88. Caledonian was formed as a subsidiary of BA to replace British Airtours. I went to Orlando on CalAir in 1987 on DC10 which was my 1st holiday. Novair (very short lived) replaced it to avoid confusion with Caledonian Airways. In 1991 I went to Los Angeles from Gatwick on BA DC10 which was a former BCal aircraft as I saw some of the trolleys still with their name on
How did it end ?
British Caledonian was purchased by British Airways in around 1988
Thats a strange color paint on the Continental 747. Does anybody know it was a rental from an other company are something. Thx.
It's in the colours for previous operator People Express.
@@hughmcmillan9608 You mean People Distress ... a HORRIBLE airline. Almost took Continental down the tube with them.
