I always thought about the cold plunges being bad for the nervous system of a stressed out person. Thank you for confirming. I guess I won't be participating in the ice bath though the benefits they speak of sound so tempting .
I'm so glad I found this and have been learning what dorsal vagal shutdown is. For years people thought I was either attention-seeking or depressed when it happened, but I knew it felt like it was physical. I have an extreme response where I sometimes cannot walk or move from the shock, and I even fall asleep randomly if triggered so much I was tested for narcolepsy. Now that I know what it is, when I feel it coming on, I try to do body movements to stop it. I tried the cold therapy and you are roght-- 100% NOOOOO. I actually had a non-epileptic seizure which was really scary. I feel like learning that the nervous system's state to deal with trauma haa been more important than even getting the talk therapy or meds, which never worked. Thank you for this!

That’s not true. I’ve been doing cold showers since I was 18 and in my lowest moments when I don’t have energy for much more cold showers save my life. Can’t function without them first thing when I wake up! But of course if you have the energy do the somatic exercises, I prefer yoga
Do what works for you. My content is for those healing from trauma. I do not encourage cold plunges for those who have not released stored trauma from the body first.
Can you give us a daily routine where one can feel a release of emotions of unwanted nature and can start afresh daily?.
Thanks
