- SEGA has rebuilt their classic games for Sony PlayStation 2 since 2003 and they're continuing this still. The project is known as SEGA AGES 2500 PLAN.
Now you see Fantasy Zone, a classic shooting game from SEGA, This video contains additional rounds which the original one doesn't have.
I'd encoded it from SEGA Classics Collection which is the only one SEGA AGES 2500 Series in US.
Note: Died three times

One of my all time fave master system/arcade games.
I love the feet coming out of Oopas ship to collect coins on the ground.

こんな見た目でただのアーケード移植かと思ったが、さりげなくいろいろ追加要素が盛り込まれていてアレンジ作品だと思った。
Those special stages must be like a bit of a homage to Space Fantasy Zone - The Fantasy Zone/Space Harrier hybrid that was supposed to come out for the PC Engine CD-ROM but got cancelled (It's quite easy to get ahold of an ISO of it and play it on an emulator these days though). This exact same soundtrack was also available in the Megadrive version of Super Fantasy Zone as a secret soundtrack.
Awesome skills BTW! The Megadrive soundtrack only covered about the first 8 levels.
To be fair, the soundtrack for the ps2 version uses the same sound engine as the arcade original, and only the last 4 tracks needed to be written.
i played this game long ago, and i love it!
I haven't played this game for very long because rented it at Family Video. Still fun to me. :)
"Family video", there's a name I haven't heard of in years. Darwin had one of them video stores in the early 90s

I didint knew the PS2 version would have 4 exclusive stages.
Bosses are now more generous in this one
It's too bad they didn't also add the other Fantasy Zone games included on the original Sega Ages 2500 Fantasy Zone Collection. That has a really cool Fantasy Zone 2 game built on original Sega 16 arcade board hardware and then emulated to perfection by M2.
That collection came a fair bit later, actually.
In fact, all of the nice M2 releases came after the 3D-AGES stuff, since Sega really needed to make the Sega Ages line suck less (really, even one of the better regarded 3D-AGES releases like Virtua Racing -- which looks fantastic on the PS2 -- plays somewhat poorly because of the screwy handling).
This is probably the nicest of the 3D-AGES releases, it hasn't been severely mucked around with with and the additions are neat and the visual style of the original is still there, even if there are some ugly bits (the explosions are hilariously out of place). It's not like say, the 3D-AGES version of Space Harrier (which is appallingly ugly throughout).
and man, M2's Fantasy Zone II is absolutely amazing (it got a 3DS release a few years ago, too)

I think the extra 4 zones were the deleted zones from the original fantasy zone
When opa-opa Looks at the screen look closely and you will see his/her eyes are missing but in the cutsences (In any fantasy zone game) You can see opa-opa's eyes (Creepy Isn't it?)

2d->3d convert is pretty crazy on this one. ai is taking over soon!!!
AC版は散々やり込んでさすがに飽きた？のでこの手のリメイクは新鮮で好きです。
スペシャルステージはまさにスペースファンタジーゾーンの再現ですね。
ただ、あともう一要素の捻りが欲しかった気がします。
プレイついてはひたすらショットの連射に頼ってるのが残念です・・・。
ネットでは不人気の声が高いのに、今中古で買おうと思うと結構高値なのよね。なんでだろう？
ステージ開始時の３次元を匂わせるシーンがいいですね。ボス破壊後のスペシャルステージはイマイチですが。どうせやるならスペシャルステージを抜けたらそのままの視点で次のステージ開始時のシーンに繋がってれば意味があったように思います。ローディング画面があるのでは致し方ないですね。
11面のBGMはメダルdeファンタジーゾーンのルーレットのBGMと同じですね(・ω・☆)
PS2版はかなりアレンジされてますね、それとボーナスステージも追加って、新鮮かつ回収しずらそう(笑)

It's like they mixed the beta of "Space Fantasy Zone" with the original one. Sad, there is no pretty shop-girl to grope like in the NEC AVENUE's version lol

Now that's the kind of Speed I like when I see shooting so is this on steam as well without buying an add-on game I've seen a thing before I think it tried to make me buy Daristuburst?
Ahh was gonna brag so many coins but I see things are dear a s*** shame first time I've ever seen that bonus stage I've only seen the older ones and only played super fantasy zone mega drive yet to beat it though stage 4 took the p***

That would be Super Fantasy Zone, which is different from the original arcade version. And yes I agree, the music in that game is better.
Eh, it was excellent there too, but ESPECIALLY with songs like victory way, and that sweet sounding system 16 soundfont, the arcade version is better imo.

よけいなアレンジいらんよね、基本。
レトロゲームは歴史的資料という側面もあるし。
The forth boss with the tentacles is NOT the same boss for that stage, for the original Master System title.
This is based on the original NES title, the master system title is the sequel.
Actually, that boss came in the original ARCADE port.
The arcade version's the original, and is what the boss line-up within this version of the game is based upon; The (non-canon) Master System version replaces two bosses with two unique ones, perhaps due to being unable to figure out how to implement those bosses with Master Sytem Hardware.
