Great video bro !! Used to sample breaks back in the days from vinyl. As family life took over had to sell the turntables and the vinyl for the space. Now mpc’s are smaller and sound dope it’s convenient to sample straight from your I phone as you have hundreds of samples at your fingertips and no more cable’s everywhere.
My man- I JUST found out about this last night and you came through as sure as the sunlight. Much love brother. Much appreciated. If anyone wants to try this, this very same guy has a video on his channel where he actually chops up something from UA-cam. Super helpful stuff. I finally have all the pieces I need to create my first sample. This tutorial is super helpful.

I bought that dongle and cable after I got the MPC Live II. I'll eventually have a turntable so I can sample from raw vinyl, but for now the phone works!

Very on point video, instant sub :-) Having no turntable myself, and also living in small places, cellphones came to the rescue lately. Sidekicking my SP-404 with Koala Sampler in a Nokia :-)
There’s no right or wrong way how you find your samples these days. I’m a vinyl dude, and depending on what type of gear I use it can be beneficial using a turntable, specially when working with the SP404, I can just pitch the record to a drum groove before I start sampling. I can't hear anything playing on either the phone or through my headphones when I'm using my phone to sample. Is there a way to fix that? It does record the sample, I just can't hear anything while it's recording it.
On the sampler screen, near the bottom left, there's a greyed-out button that says "off"; press it, and when it says "in," it will let you hear what you are recording.

Yes i’ve had my eyes on the zoom H recorders but there’s so many of them I haven’t made up my mind on which one to choose so most likely I’ll stick with one of those since they look very sturdy to take out door. I’m looking for something with at least 3 to 4 inputs
@@malobeats yeah if you need 4 inputs, the Zoom H6 will take care of that. Plus, the top port is modular, so you can take the mic off and add two more inputs, for a total of 6. Super flexible, and built like a tank!
Hey brother, thank you so much for the support, And for the returns they are mainly used for time affects like reverbs and echoes but in this case I was using it more for parallel compression, so it will essentially double your sound making it sound thicker and punchier with a more gritty effect on the second duplicate. I hope it makes sense but I’m definitely going to do a few more videos specifically on that topic.

Hey brother, absolutely. So it sounds like you have not activated to monitor the signal that’s coming in. On the bottom, left-hand side of your sample or page you should see a button labeled (LINE) or (IN) i’m not sure what it says off the top of my head, but make sure that is pressed and engaged so you could start monitoring the signal that’s coming into your MPC. amzn.to/3CsAo5a and amzn.to/3nxeIk4 those are the two cables you will need to sample from iPhone. Yeah kind of sucks that iPhone has that adapter dongle but it is what it is at the moment.
Malo you can’t do this in Controller Mode right?? I do it fine in standalone mode but I’ve been changing settings for hours trying to figure it out in controller mode but no luck LOL!!
Hey man, just got the cable but I'm getting no signal into my MPC through either my phone or my PC. When my phone's plugged in I hear no audio from the phone, so the cable's working, but the audio isn't coming out of the MPC either. When my PC's plugged in, I don't know how to set up the audio routing so maybe that's the issue there. MONITOR IN is on, too, so it's not that. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm currently unable to sample efficiently after switching from Mac to PC!
I get audio coming into the ONE but can't seem to hear anything coming out the mains. Why can't I hear audio coming out the mains when it's coming into the audio ins? TY

Hey brother thank you fo the feedback. And yes as long as you have that cable connected to the computer or phone or any thing that is able to connect to that cable you will get audio in your mpc from that source
I'm a beginner just gettin started on the MPC 1 in transition from the 2000XL. I have the exact cable that U use plugged in the L & R inputs in the back & the small jack into the output of my phone & the Beats headphones plugged into the phones input in the front.. I can see it the volume bars playing up & down on the screen when I play the song in my phone as the rec. vol & master vol in the back are up past mid range but still hear nothing in my headphones that r fully charged.. Scratchin my head, any helpful feedback please?
Yes, you just have to make sure that your monitor input is engaged you will see that button on your bottom left-hand side when you’re in the sampler page, just make sure “IN” is selected So you can hear what it is that you’re sampling and they should do it. Let me know if that worked or not
Oh and would a mixing desk where you up the gain from the iPhone in have less noise? Maybe the Tascam model series that receives audio over Bluetooth and then have an out into maschine be better regarding noise because it’s digitally coming from the phone?

Hey and thank you for checking out the video, I’m not sure what you have your input signal set to make sure that your input signal is set to inputs one and two sometimes I notice we might accidentally have a set up to internal one and two but just make sure it’s just said to one and two. bro you gotta edit the audio in on top of the videos separately using a video editor... plenty out there but if u have pc microsoft recently came out with clipchamp i just used it and its p good actually

I’ve never used the MK3 but I’m sure it’s also good, I’ve just never had interest to train anything else other than the MPC workflow since I really enjoy it and never feel like it’s lacking anything with sample bass music

Hey Marko yes this cable will work for android, but I don’t think you will need the small white iPhone adaptor, I’m not sure if android phones just come with the 8mm input which I think they do and that’s a good thing since you will not need the small little white cable.
Hey brother, I actually just adjust my gain and bring it down a few notches till the point is not clipping anymore. I suggest you play the loudest section of what you are trying to sample and as you’re monitoring that section I would adjust the gain input to make sure is not clipping then I will hit record and sample it into the MPC
@@Michael-xj8ju ok i see😅. Then again the volume increase doesn’t do anything. The volume level of the input signal moves a couple pixels so it means audio must be coming in, but i can’t hear a thing.

That does Not make Sense when your Input is 16 Bit..and you dont Drive the gain to much

24bit recording is standard on mpc, but mp3 qualitity on YT is terrible. I just use YT for Demos. If i wanna go on i buy CD or Vinyl

For a bit more outlay you could use Apple music and a Dragonfly DAC. It should end up cheaper than a record dek and buying vinyl.

@@malobeats you can’t beat Zoom or Tascam recorders for this. I really like the Zoom h6 myself, but they have recorders at all different price points.

Yes you can and that’s the amazing part of it. Pretty much anything that plays out of your phone can be sampled into your MPC.
When I sample from my phone, the sampled audio is bit bottom heavy. Have you experienced this issue?

u don need it per say, u could run it mono into the mpc but all your other stuff is in stereo so its gonna be better quality overall

I suggest you play the loudest section of what you are trying to sample and as you’re monitoring that section I would adjust the gain input to make sure is not clipping then I will hit record and sample it into the MPC

I’m not getting sound from the mpc
There's a tiny volume knob next to the line inputs.
@@Michael-xj8ju ok i see😅. Then again the volume increase doesn’t do anything. The volume level of the input signal moves a couple pixels so it means audio must be coming in, but i can’t hear a thing.
