I feel strangely nostalgic about seeing the Carpe Diem back on the board. A simpler time when the neighbors complained about the noise and Dan only owned one Tele.
It always amazes me how you guys manage to come up with ideas for a show every week. They’re always interesting never stale. This is another great idea- Thank you!
i think i’ve watched the powerboost/hiwatt episode over 10 times. The sounds in that episodes changed my life for the better and i’ve been happily chasing powerboost clones ever since. Thanks for the journey. 😊
I just got a Devtech Power Driver 18v. Its comparable to the Tru-Fi. Amazingly useful pedal. Placed after a Muff as a very clean boost is a revelation.
I got the Vintage FX Colordrive after watching the older video some years ago. It’s been nearly my favorite drive/fuzz/boost pedal since. Can’t play without it.
My goodness, that outro with all the pedals on was something else! Goosebumps throughout! It's peak TPS, in the sense that it highlights how pedals can help create otherwordly soundscapes, paired with Dan's tasteful and incredible playing. The man sure knows how to tailor his playing according to what effects and being used. Bravo!
I think more than anything, just seeing the love these guys have is wondrous. The sounds are incredible too, but more than anything the reconnection is just wonderful to see.
What utter joy. Nostalgia at remembering seeing these the first time round and the sheer joy on both of your faces at the end playin- watching Dan immerse and shift as the tones layered. Inspiring. As was Mick’s dialling in following Dans playing. Go team 🤘💥
Thanks gents for the walk down memory lane. It was so nice to hear the Carpe Diem again and your reaction being very similar to the first few times you had it on TPS. I got one of these several years ago and have always loved it. 🙏
Nice video gentlemen. It makes me want to revisit pedals that have been shelved for a bit and dig deeper into their sound. I do really love how both of you play. It inspires me to play and explore.
wow.....i'm speechless! those were some of the most inspiring tones i've heard in a very long time. thank you Dan and Mick and also the guys who recommended to revisit these pedals! you made my day!
This was nostalgic viewing. I have to be honest...no ones fault, but I have been finding this channel a little less enjoyable over the past year or so. I've been watching for about 6 years and it's possible I'm just mentally done with gear to this level (for now) but I have not found too many episodes capturing my interest. This was a smart idea for a video. Throw back. Great call.
What a wonderful trip down memory lane! When I first started watching That Pedal Show the Carpe Diem was a regular favourite and the first pedal I bought as a result of watching TPS. To this day it remains one of my favourite overdrive pedals. Thank you so much for this show! 👍
@@ThatPedalShowI'd have to sell everyone for both. Lol. However, have you guys seen t rex have done an echorec? It's not cheap either, but damn it sounds good. Please get it on the show asap so I can dream /drool over it 😂
Great video! Some of your early videos really impacted my guitar playing and my musical journey…watching this brought back some memories. I hope to see the King of Tone return in one of these videos.
Another great episode. I've always enjoyed Dan's playing but watching this compared to some of the earlier episodes his solo chops have improved no end. Well played sir!
Listening to this on headphones whilst strimming some long grass in the garden … something about the vibrations from the strimmer and the low-end from that Thorpy kicking in … felt like I was there!! Immense.
Great idea for a show. I bought the Pedal Show limited edition Carpe Diem from your shop and sold over the years for newer shinier things. Shouldn‘t have done that. Thanks for all the education and entertainment over the years, Dan and Mick!
As someone who’s been watching you guys since the very beginning in 2015, this episode is sooo sentimental. Would be cool to see Dan’s hampstead amp again, Mick’s lonestar some more. But the return of Blue is special I hope Mick can find the right pickups for it because it’s a shame that such a great guitar has become secondary You guys are the best!
Hey Sam, thanks for this. No pickups are going to save Blue. I've been through the mill with it and it's just time to move it on or retire it. Would be interesting to get a psychotherapist on it, but I've built up an aversion to it to the point where it actually triggers PTSD type symptoms now. It's sooooo weird, and so out of kilter for the rest of my brain. My collective pain body used to pour towards other humans. Now it's directed solely at this poor guitar. Hahahahaha!
@@ThatPedalShowthat’s terrible! I’m sorry that it’s become a source of pain. It could be an interesting philosophical episode, if it isn’t too triggering to make. I’ve been on a strat journey for over 7 years- new pickups, blocked trem, new necks. Ended up with a custom shop 63 sonic blue that I love But hey, you HAVE the ‘61 strat haha. Joey Landreth did a modified version of 3 - build a board of virtually unlimited size and weight and take it on tour. I think he both won and lost the challenge.

As previous comments great to see Carpe Diem back, that was one of the first pedals I seen on TPS and I was blown away then and nothing has changed in 7 years it still rocks. The replicator was really stand out and im not sure if that’s like Mick said, because there’s a better respect for what’s going on having explored the benson and Fultone delay etc but the strat 2/4 positions into the clean tape just get me every time. Great show gents have a lovely weekend see you Monday VCQ
Amazing… Dan… your playing just gets better and better and better. Truly an inspiration to us players who’ve played a while. Great show chaps… have a house point each
Such a tremendous group of pedals that all sounded epic, for you guys it must be a case of can't see the wood for the trees, so many pedals so little time !! and you can't fit them all on a board, brilliant episode, more of these sort of shows would be super cool and fun 😄
Loved that show. Can't wait to hear the old amps in future episodes. Crank up that Hampstead! The Carpe Diem reminds me a lot of my fave MIAB, the Ramble FX Marvel Drive which has the same "jumpered channel" two volume (gain) arrangement. The Hartman Flange is very cool, and of course tape echo never sucks does it? The Neon Egg felt like something I would love to set up along side my DAW and record straight in with effects on in a rather old school way. And thanks Mick for introducing my "adopt a silly British phrase of the day" word. .... Fizzy Mate!!!!
I managed to get hold of one of the TPS Carpe Diem pedals a couple of years ago. It’s been a permanent fixture on my board ever since. A fantastic array of tones and it seems to work with any guitar. Thanks again guys.
Fantastic tones as always gents! The replicator reminded me of a fun story for y'all! I work at a medium size concert venue in a city just outside Copenhagen, Denmark, and one of my most memorable shifts was when I saw a big, bearded viking, who I quickly realised was Michael Pagaard. He was playing guitar in a Bruce Springsteen tribute band called The Boss. And while I was helping him load his gear, we talked about his work on T-rex and his video appearances on TPS and Andertons. Such a nice guy and exactly as fun as he appears in the videos 🤘😁
Happy coincidence!! I was researching the Tru-Fi Colordriver last night because I'm considering buying of someone local. I watched the original TPS video and here it is again!! Kismet!!! It looks like something that would be right up my alley. Thanks
The retro vibe is almost completely complete - lovely to see ‘old’ Blue and ‘old’ Red getting a bloody good workout once more. Only thing missing is ... original t-shirts ... Presumably you can both fit into your original examples???????? I can, but then I bought XXL to start with ...
I went and bought a Tru-Fi Colordriver, after I saw the video you did on the Colorbooster circuit, years ago. I went with the 18V version and it has been on my board ever since. Such a great pedal.
This episode drops just as I'm in the middle of an epic pedalboard build - and I've dragged our many old favorites myself, at least half of em purchased after discovering them through your show, some dating back 10+ years :) Cheers lads. Hope you are still "super fizzy" about your pedals in another 10 years. I was just thinking about that Carpe Diem yesterday, and found it featured in one of the early wet/dry episodes. Nice revisit. Old TPS favorites that have stayed on various iterations of my board include Analogman KOTv4, Jam Rattler, Analogman Sunface, Analogman ARDX20 w/ amaze 1, and Jam RetroVibe.
I bought the V3 of the Planetarium this year and it's amazing - I think your version is the V2, which is not massively different? Jamie is lovely and he is still making them to order, I can't recommend it enough, great on guitars, synths, vocals, drums, you name it. Great show.
Here is the orange wonder box again. The Colordriver. I love this sound. Great show. Telecaster - Colordriver - Fender Reverb Unit - Hammond Leslie - Hiwatt with a 4 by 12 Eletro Voice equipped cabinet. Not suitable for the bedroom and the neighbours are easily stressed! It is huge fun to play with this equipment. Is it possible to test the Hiwatt Custom 20 Head? My next project is to build an isolation cabinet. Have you ever made a video about Isolation Cabinets?
Thanks for going with my suggestion. Another cool episode. We all love exploring new pedals but sometimes we have the noise we strive for lurking in a box or cupboard. Also, Mick's point about being second Han pedal is very valid. One final point, what is the collective noun for effects pedals?
I think the T-Rex Replicator is crazy underrated. It's not just the 1000th version of a simple circuit, it is a really unique product, well engineered that sounds and feels amazing. I wish it had MIDI connectivity as it is already digital controlled, there is just the interface missing.
Agreed 110%. Importan thing is, that its reliable. I have it for 5 years and zero repairs so far. They should add at least expression pedal input, if not full fat MIDI.
Hey friends! That's an awesome episode. Definitely puts paid to the idea that old means out to pasture, and yes I resemble that remark. I really liked the Carpe Diem, Fire Custom Shop is still around, the website is in Portuguese but web translators work great and they have a lot on offer. The Colourdriver is a real blast from the past and still sounds great. Was not aware of the Hartman and it does sound very EM like. I love the T Rex Replicator and the sans chorus version the Replicator Junior. Both are still available, but are typically special order. That Planetarium was also way cool. Thank you so very much for all you do! Cheers!
I got a Hartman a couple years ago after remembering it sounding fantastic on the show, it’s really nice to see it featured again! I was really surprised to hear how different those two units sound! Dan’s has more resonance on tap and is generally brighter sounding,. Looks like I need to open mine up to adjust some trimpots to make it as good as Dans haha!
I purchased the carpe diem when there was a that pedal show version. It stacks very well with other ODs. I tend to run a Klon style pedal in an always on capacity for edge of breakup. When you put the carpe diem on after it gives you everything you could want out of a Marshall.
Love the nostalgia guys. All those pedals sound killer. Just goes to prove new isn't always better. Still rocking All you need is fuzz tee shirt from those days. Miss the old TPS logo too🙁
I know it's no longer Mick's main squeeze, but great to see Blue again. These pedals are also amazing, I think it's good to go back sometimes and see if you still agree with your original thoughts
It's great to see a new take on these! I sold my fallout cloud after finding it too scoopy for my use. I've yet to try a Colordriver but it sounds like I might like it!
Everything on - always a favourite of the early years… that was fun lads, hoping to see The Dude and the Van Weelden royal overdrive - i think i recall they were favourites for a while, but then the memory (is not what it was) man. ;-)
I often think that I want a plexi-ish thing, like the PRS HDRX 20 or the Synergy module, but then I remember that my Synergy Fryette Deliverance module can do that and much more with its dual gain knobs. It just goes to show that gear that looks a certain way nearly defeats my better judgement sometimes (this message is brought to you by the Fire Custom Shop Carpe Diem).
Absolutely loved this trip down memory lane! When you featured the Muffroom Cloud and the Carpe Diem first time around I instantly fell in love and they've stayed on the board ever since. I've been thinking about a flanger for the board for a while and that Hartman one sounds amazing... So much so I've just found one over in Dublin and had to make the acquisition... Stunning! That Planetarium.... Wow! I might have to make some enquiries on that one... Once again, you've knocked it out of the park sonically, video editing wise and whilst we're all a little bit older, these episodes never fail to put a smile on my face (but not my wife's or bank manager's when the courier arrives with another delivery 📦 🫣). Keep up the great work D&M and all at TPS!
6 wonderful pedals - the replicator and planetarium, though, are extraordinary - it's always a sure sign when Mick 'goes' and it happened here about 37 mins and he doesn't come back down until the end. what you played totally suited each pedal - lovely playing as always chaps...love this show

What do the neighbors do now? Need some Kevlar for your amps 😂?
Well, he told the wife that he only owned one Tele.
And it's the overdrive on the TPS outro theme!

Seeing the Carpe Diem on your board is takin' me way back.
The Two-Rock and Matchless are back. Such a great combination. Also Dan and Mick ofcourse :-)
It’s always good to see (and especially to hear) Red and Blue
Red, Blue, Carpe Diem… oh it’s gonna be a good one! Thanks for this!
That planetarium is quite a serious bit of kit. But also i think you guys had that Replicator sounding awesome.
Well done
Love the Colordriver, and love the concept of the dirty boost/overdrive. I use the Duke of Tone in the boost mode for a dirty solo boost.
Miss the old TPS logo too🙁
Man, that classic mode on the Carpe Diem sounds absolutely excellent...
everything together sounds insane. nice.
I know it's no longer Mick's main squeeze, but great to see Blue again. These pedals are also amazing, I think it's good to go back sometimes and see if you still agree with your original thoughts
Happy to see Brazil represented with a pedal!!
Huge fan Here!!
It's great to see a new take on these! I sold my fallout cloud after finding it too scoopy for my use. I've yet to try a Colordriver but it sounds like I might like it!
Everything on - always a favourite of the early years… that was fun lads, hoping to see The Dude and the Van Weelden royal overdrive - i think i recall they were favourites for a while, but then the memory (is not what it was) man. ;-)
Nice Amps. That Matchless, dream amp.Mick love when you play the Sonic Blue and Dan with the sweet Red Tele.Classic
Ace guys its a great feeling to go back to a pedal, ive recently done this with the ProCo RAT 🤣
The Planetarium is perhaps the sickest thing I have ever heard.
I have absolutely no use for it but I must have it.
I think the Planetarium ought to exist in a conventional pedal format. Certainly the reverb and chorus section. Fab.
6 wonderful pedals - the replicator and planetarium, though, are extraordinary - it's always a sure sign when Mick 'goes' and it happened here about 37 mins and he doesn't come back down until the end. what you played totally suited each pedal - lovely playing as always chaps...love this show
Thank you Toby!
Gotta have the Royal Overdrive and Black Bird preamps next time! I’ve been watching the old preamp videos lately for some rig-spiration
What a GLORIOUS board !
It can get very amusing to see Dan go into fits of honest ecstacy!
