On one hand, I kind of wish Shigaraki remained as the final villain, with both All Might and AFO being down for the count and had their final battle, now it was turn for their successors.

Is funny to think about it, like a comedy sketch. But being honest this isn't something new, we see it before in the end of the War Arc, the refuse to let AFO die or making him the culprit of everything bad that happened. If any, we finally have a good consequence and pay off for Deku losing his arms like the series warning about it since the beginning, but it seems like it would never would happen 'cause the rear of the series of them. Like what happened when introducing the Foreign heroes.

A while ago I saw a theory that Deku's childhood doctor was the doctor for All for One and that he stole and harvested quirks from some children that were his patients. Assuming Eri does come in to heal/revert(?) Deku, it would be interesting if she also reverted a quirk that was (theoretically) stolen from Deku as a child.
I actually like this theory. Him having his quirk and also overhaul's quirk
Wouldn't Deku's original quirk be either breathing fire like his Father or pulling small objects towards him like his mother, or a mix of both?
Plus, even if Deku did get his hypothetical original quirk back wouldn't it be basically pointless considering he doesn't have any training with it.

Yeah but it’s genuine bs imo. Like I get the fact that he’s a hero and if he doesn’t have to he won’t kill the bad guy. But it’s reached a point where shigaraki/AFO were national threats. Deku needed to make risk-reward. The risk of shigaraki winning is infinitely worse than the reward of turning to the good side. As that would cost countless lives to be destroyed and ended in comparison to one.
I genuinely can’t see how anyone can justify Deku’s massive mistake with “he was trying to be a hero.” A true hero should know when enough is enough, and when a threat is so big it needs to be put down. Even all might attempted to kill AFO, and he’s the greatest hero in Mha history as of now.

That's because he was trying to save SHIGARAKI HIMSELF, not AFO. He didn't know AFO would take over Shiggy's body since Deku knew of AFO's death. Deku has made up his mind to save Shigaraki since season 4, so him acting against it out of no-where would be severely out of character, especially as an optimist.
Facts. When you have a villain willing and capable of destroying the world, your morality is just cowardice at that point. I always get annoyed with the whole “I can’t kill anyone ever” trope bc you just can’t talk to some folks.

AFO didn't defeat the story's main theme. Yes, he put Kotaro against Tenko whom AFO cursed with "Decay". But Kotaro did have the opportunity to restrain himself and Society still played a role in Tenko's corruption. AFO didn't plant the seeds, he merely cultivated them.
I am pretty sure that giving him Decay is the most close thing to plants the seeds. Yeah, this revelation of AFO it didn't exactly play against the principal theme of the story, just go around it and makes it considerable narratively weaker when one thinks about it. And that isn't something bad, MHA has been more show in his last years, and even if doesn't have the same pay off or building is still enjoyable to many. So I understand how a many doesn't like or why it feels out of place

There's going to be a quirk that Deku has. In the very first episode, we see Dr. Kyudai Garaki telling Deku and his mom that he is quirkless. However, that could've been just a ploy, and his quirk was probably stolen.

Every once in a while I come back to see what's new in MHA. And literally every time I feel so good, so vindicated, knowing I dropped this series. It feels so......meh. It's painful how boring this all sounds.

I would argue that the main theme is the torch it self.
Deku represents the torch’s we receive by love and great will, that live within us.
Shigaraki is the torch of darkness and control. The kind of that comes through dark complexes, trauma. Like a spirit hunting or souls sometimes even possessing it.
One for all searching for a new host is just how darkness spreads.

I have a theory, the stock pile ability of one for all may be the only thing that stayed with Deku. It's never really stated, or at least from what I read that he gave the entirety of one for all too all for one, but we know that Yoruichi 's vestage is gone. In Horikoshi fashion, I believe that the power we see him use during the beginning of the series may be all that remains. I don't believe that Eri Will be able to repair the different quirk of one for all that managed to stockpile so many quirks. However, I do believe that he can repair his arms and if this is a big if One for all has a court factor that was able to manifest itself within Midoriya during the beginning of the series I believe that if he's lost his abilities, she can grant him the usage of one for all one more time similar to what we seen all might do with all for one. I don’t agree that all of shigaraki’s motivations are now invalid, he responded to the cards he was dealt with, his feelings towards hero society were valid within that context. Yes he turned out to be a pawn but by the time of this reveal he had already divorced himself of playing the subordinate role. He just assumed that all his newly gained power meant something, that he was now finally in charge, but it was not the case. Theres no way he was getting a happy ending, best case scenario is life in prison. Lets be serious

It was one hell of a twist, but I don't think it over shadows the theme. Shigaraki mightve been controlled from birth, but there were others that still felt like the hero society failed them. Toga, Dabi, and Twice. I forgot the lizard guy name, but him too. OFA just made Shigaraki feel that way to make him easier to manipulate
