In case of a switch or hedge coverage on p&r, coach Messina wants to pass the ball ahead (on the side of the screen), with a diagonal roll to that side. Here the ball is passed back on a hedge. Is that a coincidence or do you feel that the short roll is better used on a back pass?

In general, important to have the guard get off the ball against a hedge so they can play in the man advantage. The throw ahead pass is usually the fastest, but the pass back can also accomplish the same thing. And both passes can be used to hit the short roll as well, don't feel one is better than the other

@@huhwhatsthatyousaid do you have a video of this? so the big doesn't short roll but instead does a diagonal roll to the side of the ballhandler, and they look to triangle pass it inside quick in a deeper position?
