      Me too... I keep a small bagged vacuum that stays in my laundry room strictly for keeping the laundry room clean from dryer lint... It takes me forever to fill a bag tho

    It is so important to keep the dryer vent clean and the inside of the machine can be taken apart and cleaned. The other thing I would mention is the use of dryer sheets. Not only are they toxic but put a waxy type substance on the clothing and resulting lint. Just don't use those as they are unnecessary, toxic and stink up the clothing. Use wool dryer balls. Use vinegar in the rinse cycle. That is what a crawl space should look like, keeps the dampness and other things out.

    I was wondering, why do you not check the lint trap in the process of doing the dryer duct work checks? I'm adamant on keeping mine clean but wonder if that is part of the issue besides the dryer pipe itself being stuck with lint.

    My laundry area backs right up against the basement staircase. So the last bit of vent line is a flexi that comes UP thru a hole in the floor. Are there any adapters that make a better connection between vertical hole in dryer to horizontal hole in floor?

    NEVER use a gas blower to purge a vent. That could blow the entire vent out of the house and into the neighbor's yard! 😁

    • @dock_yard1149
      @dock_yard1149 6 місяців тому

      Plus foul the nice air inside the house with CO, but we all know that.
      Or maybe you meant blowing from outside-in? But that can blow the fine lint particles all over the laundry room.

    Hey! Found your channel recently, I'm an avid consumer of cleaning/organizing/repairing/restoring type videos, and I thought I would let you know my thoughts on your content, if that interests you. (Also, I know this is an older video, I've watched more recent ones also and seen some of the things I will say be more present in future ones.)
    First of all, I really like to see that work you are doing. It's satisfying and I think has great potential for a wide reach on UA-cam, seeing how popular that type of content is. That being said, some of the things I noticed seems to pull in people the most are missing or not consistently present in your videos. I think they would be relatively simple to implement, though, if you think it's worth a shot. Let me give you a few examples, the ones I myself prefer.
    A big big driver of engagement is when there is a narrative. A story of why you were called, what the problem is, who is the type of person owning/living in the place, why it has been neglected (ignorance, circumstances, etc.), what prompted . Most creators who gain lots of traction dedicate an intro for this, and sometimes an outro with the resolution, how the people who recived the service reacted to how big a clog you found, what you told them about the risks, if they were thankful or if you think they will be neglectful in the future, and so on.
    Another big selling point is education. If people are drawn to what you do, they often want to know the details. Why is that job important, what are the risks of not cleaning out your vents more often, how such clogs might form (even if you think it's obvious!), if a previous installation was badly done and why is it bad, what are the standards you are working with (are there norms regarding airflow, laws and inspections for buildings regarding air vents, and so on), what are the specifics of each type of vent exit, crawlspace, tool you use, etc. A mix of technical and anecdotal is pretty nice. If people don't care and just want to see big lumps falling, they're probably already muting the video anyways.
    Also, there is the process. Seeing something done from start to finish. This includes setting up your things, preparing your tools and workspace, taking the dryer off the wall and back on again, and cleaning up the lint afterwards. That's a part that many people find very satisfying. Seeing the process is also reassuring and brings trust in the creator, because it assuages people's fears about botched work, and shows them what to look for in a trustworthy worker. If they see you take care of people's appliances and property, they will see you in a positive light.
    And finally, the before and afters. Now obviously, at the moment you are not putting down cams in the vents, and that might not be an investment you make until some time in the future. But, there are still things you can do to make this happen. For example, a snippet at the end where you hear the very muffled sound of the dryer before, with the thing you use to measure airflow showing the low readings, cutting to the one after you've fixed it. The sound and the number would be great to satisfy that before/after itch. Also, the cubic feet might be the best one to show since the numbers are higher and thus feel more substantial for the untrained viewer. The difference between before and after is more appreciable if you go from 500 to 1500 than if you go from 5 to 15 (just throwing random numbers out there).
    Ok, so this was a novel and if you don't need it it's fine, but I hope you find something useful in it. Have a good day!
