I really got this game at EBgames (discontinued) in 2005 for like 15$… and now I’m here at age 24 tearing up hearing this. Just happened to pick up the best game of all time, a game that has deep influence on my adult life. A game my kids will play.
Interestingly, Saria's song can be found in a V.SMILE game about Shrek I grew up with in 2006. When I entered the Lost Woods for the first time, I noticed that I was already familiar with Saria's song. That is the reason why this soundtrack has a special place in my heart! :)
for the few who dont know who saria is, shes the first character in ocarina of time that you meet. shes links best friend, and also the friend of most kokiri children as well as forest (skull) children. the reason why the lost woods has her song is because shes always playing her ocarina, and her music travels through the whole forest. kokiri children are like lost boys, they arent human, and never grow up past the age you see them in the game. (spoiler): she is also the sage of forest, and is the supposed protector of the forest temple. and the kokiri are the ancestors of the korok, the little tree people in breath of the wild and wind waker.
I like thinking botw takes place around now at this time but obviously in another dimension/whatever land where Hyrule is. It's just what my brain automatically thinks. But then you realize Saria, Nabooru, Ruto, Darunia, Makar, Grandma, Medli, Midna, Groose, Colin, Ilia, Beth, Talo & Malo (and these are JUST A FEW of characters I am emotionally attached to, are dead. I really got this game at EBgames (discontinued) in 2005 for like 15$… and now I’m here at age 24 tearing up hearing this. Just happened to pick up the best game of all time, a game that has deep influence on my adult life. A game my kids will play.
Interestingly, Saria's song can be found in a V.SMILE game about Shrek I grew up with in 2006. When I entered the Lost Woods for the first time, I noticed that I was already familiar with Saria's song. That is the reason why this soundtrack has a special place in my heart! :)

for the few who dont know who saria is, shes the first character in ocarina of time that you meet. shes links best friend, and also the friend of most kokiri children as well as forest (skull) children.
the reason why the lost woods has her song is because shes always playing her ocarina, and her music travels through the whole forest.
kokiri children are like lost boys, they arent human, and never grow up past the age you see them in the game.
(spoiler): she is also the sage of forest, and is the supposed protector of the forest temple.
and the kokiri are the ancestors of the korok, the little tree people in breath of the wild and wind waker.

I like thinking botw takes place around now at this time but obviously in another dimension/whatever land where Hyrule is. It's just what my brain automatically thinks. But then you realize Saria, Nabooru, Ruto, Darunia, Makar, Grandma, Medli, Midna, Groose, Colin, Ilia, Beth, Talo & Malo (and these are JUST A FEW of characters I am emotionally attached to, are dead. Probably Saria, Nabooru, Medli, Colin, Ilia, Midna, and Makar are those i am most attached to. I MISS THEM SO MUCHHH
