I just completed the pokedex today!! The last Pokemon that I needed was a sobble bc I chose scorbunny and my bf chose grookie so this is what I did: I bred a new scorbunny and named it “sobble pls”. @@hifly013 using the serebii dex and just running down the list worked perfectly for me. A lot of the trouble came from the version exclusives.
I’m currently 250ish in, and I’ve found that just catching Pokémon in the order that they appear in the dex is really helpful.

What i like about the pokedex recommendations is that it will usually recommend pokemon that are available with current weather in the wild area.
What’s worked for me is the quick ball and also starting from the beginning again. Yes you can catch the same Pokémon in the wild area with consideration of a few. But they’re weaker at the start of the routes making your catch rate MUCH higher. So I’ve started from my house and slumbering wield and I’m going through the whole map once over.

Few weeks later dreepy has now infested all of surprise trade
I leveled my 5 extra mons at lake of outrage, cycling through them as they evolved. The mons there are usually fully evolved, so the exp is higher, and they spawn like crazy.
I grinded so much out of this game, I got it on Christmas, beat it 2 days later, completed the pokedex on the 2nd, (technically 3am of the 3rd), and got my first shiny (Wooloo) less than an hour ago!
You can get Quickballs in Hammerlocke PokeCenter as well and for cheaper everyone!!! No need to spend more money than needed

you can but you can get it in a way far more easier than that. You can find a watt merchant who sells quick balls for 50 watts and if you raid spam you can get 999 in like 10 mins
Instead of using 400,000 pokedollars, I used 20,000 watts for 400 quick balls :)

Use the Recommendations, quick way to find where they are and fly there right away instead of having to go to the map and remember where they spawn

I’d recommend not rotating too much, because many of the evolved forms can be found in the wild. For the ones that you can’t, if you do some max raids, you can shovel XP candies down their throats
Step 1: Wait for Pokemon HOME to release

I am 90% sure I have every pokemon I need for my dex other than ones released in gen 8 in my copy of UM so uh when Home comes out I am going to finish getting the pokedex entries I dont have by then.
That only solves part of the problem. There's still the Cover legends.
Took me about 65 hours to complete the pokedex totally worth it already got 3 sparkly boys in total
Rickshi and Moku I got 0 I had no Nintendo online so I got my Friend with sword for help ( I got shield ) and also I abused the system by creating account to get other starters and trading and deleting that account

The second pokemon I encountered was a shiney! My husband was PISSED 😂 it was a corvisquire. So freaking cool!

When doing Max Raid battles , I use a Level 100 and Dynamax Level 10 Silvally with whatever memory I need to have a Super Effective move for the Pokémon I'm catching. You can get a Type : Null after you beat the Main Story and then evolve it with Max Freindship then level up once. I'm at 364 so I'm close to completing it.

If you have pokemon home and Pokemon bank, you can move type null and silvally to SW/SH (keep in mind this is unreversible)

Check how the pokemon evolve before leveling them up. There are some pokemon I was certain evolved by leveling up but ended up being another method

I have a tip. if you go to the city where the 6 gym is you can go up too game freak and get a catch charm so you catch every pokemon more easily
It only gives you a higher chance of getting a "critical throw" . it doesnt make every throw better

If you’re on iOS, I highly recommend Galarian Dex Tracker. It does exactly what it says and more. If you’ve already completed quite a bit of the Dex it can be a hassle to fill it all in, but it can tell you all that you have, all that you’re missing, Shiny Pokémon, version-exclusives, it’s really well done.
Ugh im still in need of Clauncher, Pinsir and Drampa. So hard to encounter Drampa in shield. 😭
I'm only worried about the shield legend since all my friends have sword, everything else is pretty easy to get in surprise trade.

The overworld spawns always spawn there in THAT WEATHER ONLY so you likely wouldn't find any of those 'rare' spawns in the snow since they're usually normal weather
I did a no box challenge in which I only caught Intelleon, Corvanight, (shiny) Salazle, Galatian Rapidash, Lapras, and Eternatus by the time I beat the game. Only now am I filling out the dex.

I have seen 324 Pokémon and caught 185 but my Pokédex recommendations keeps just saying “Let’s find Pokémon!” And not updating. This has been going for more than three days and it won’t change wherever I go in the map or how many times I reset the game. Anyone knows how to fix it?
I'm pretty sure if you just go into the dex and go into the info of it it give you the map and what weather specifications needed for it

I'm sure someone has mentioned this since there are over 2000 comments lol, but a good way too is to go to your local Game Stop or gaming store and buy the Pokedex book for the region. It give you how to get them all, where they are, what weather they spawn in, what incenses to use for breeding, etc. It also gives you moves that all the Pokemon can learn and how. It give match types and everything you need to know to not knock out a Pokemon before you collect it. It has been super helpful on my journey. Currently I have 318 in my Pokedex so I am almost there. Like he said though trading is a great way to do it. I have Shield and my girlfriend has Sword, and we constantly trade back and forth. My girlfriend does not care about completing it, so she is always giving me the stuff I need for the Dex lol.
@Lucky98 True, but if you have a missing spot in the Pokedex with just the "???" and you don't know what it is you can look it up in the book. Plus the book has all the info on moves and the like too.
This guy completed the pokedex in less than a week of the game's release.
Sooo much rare Pokémon spawned in my game but it was when I was such a low level and I’ve never seen them sense.
Apparently, candies can give friendship. I used a bunch on my Type: Null and it evolved into a Silvally, I was just leveling it up, I thought I would need berries but, I didn't. (I didn't used any berries just EXP candies)
Lvl up gives you friendship, soothe bell + lvl candys should evolve the pokemon within the next 30 lvls
Remember, if you want to trade online, you have to pay Nintendo which you haven't done in older consoles because Nintendo is greedy!
Breeding is a good way to get pre-evolutions of pokémon you don't already have.
Weather, when changed, updates immediately. You don’t need to reload the area and if you are on a map you can just hit + twice to have it refresh. This also works on the Pokédex map so you can see the weather you want to change to.
The strong Pokémon outside of the grass have a long respawn timer. If you catch, k.o., or run they won’t reappear for a day or two, even with changing the date.
Pokémon that have appeared won’t disappear when you load the game. If you are trying to catch a rare Pokémon you can save before you approach it and reload to try again, just like legendary Pokémon in other games.
A good use for this is when I was trying to catch a drakloak with a moon ball because of the color scheme and I only had one (gift, can’t find other sources) so I reloaded to try again until I caught it. I don’t know how this works with shaking grass, but If it shakes when you save it probably will keep the grass as shaking when you reload at least.
The guy in the hotel that gives you the shiny charm will straight up give you a charm for critical catches if you talk to him in order to help fill out your Pokédex. I don’t think there are any perquisites to obtain it besides reaching the town.

idk if this is much of a tip but i’d say, if you’re completing the dex post-game like me, don’t waste time trying to level up every single pokémon because chances are, its final evo has a static spawn in the wild area somewhere that you can easily catch. explore the wild area to the fullest extent and catch every one of those specific spawns that you see! like this guy said, there are a lot of trade evos and stone evos and friendship evos that you can easily skip by catching them. and some spawns can change by the weather so always check back and see if you get a different spawn! i personally found this way easier than taking every pokémon i have and wasting candies or wild battles to level them up lol
Whenever I'd play on the main storyline during any given day I go to wild area first to do a quick round around the place and catch whatever new pokemon I came across. I had about 70% of it filled by the time I got the legendary at the end of the story. The last 30% is a lot harder.
Here’s a tip that I can give based off of an experience I had, if you’re out biking, I think it was on the Lake of Outrage, & you see a Milotic, catch it! I saw one & figured I’d catch it later but it spawns due to the weather so either do the weather manipulation thing he talked about in the video or you could end up like me & spend 3 hours fishing for a Feebas which is a 1% encounter over on route 2, I heard stories of people getting shiny Magikarp or Chewtle before getting a Feebas, I wasn’t that lucky & was so happy when I finally got it. I caught mine to breed for a shiny & every once in a while, I throw the breedjects into Surprise Trade but I got my shiny quickly so I don’t have many extra Feebas.
Surprise Trade has done a tone of work for my pokedex, I got Darumaka through Surprise Trade which is Sword Exclusive, I’m on Shield. I actually really needed Darmanitan for breeding my Eiscue so I do have breedject Eiscue that I throw into Surprise Trade a little here & there but I throw in the less than desirable ones, I plan to surprise trade the better ones for Christmas, hoping to find forever homes for these misfit toys. If you come across an Eiscue in a dream ball from Gail on surprise trade, that would be me. My special Christmas ones will be named Misfit Toy but the earlier ones are not named. Eiscue is definitely a difficult one to snag, it’s Shield exclusive & a 2% encounter on route 10 so if you manage to get one from Surprise Trade, talk to your friends, odds are you’ll know people who need it for the dex. If you get one of mine, well, I did use a dream ball for this & its shiny is pink so if you’re a shiny hunter & like matching balls to shinies, feel free to breed it.
I’m not the only person who sends out breedjects, seriously, Surprise Trade is amazing, he said it in the video & I’m stamping down on that, it took me about 45 minutes to catch an Eiscue & 3 hours for Feebas, save yourself the trouble I went through lol.

This is a trick I learned a while back and it always seems to work. You find a friend who has a switch and has his the entire Pokédex full. Then u hit him in the head with a lead pipe and take his switch. You should now have all the Pokemon in the Pokédex. Lmk if this works for you too!

Best tip I would give, buy a copy of sword and a copy of shield, buy a second hand switch lite, connect your switch with your switch lite, and trade away. You'll fork out a little in the beginning as a start up cost, but in my experience, having friends costs more in the long run... Christmas is coming up, and who's always been there with you through the thick and thin? You have. So be a good friend to yourself, and get that second Nintendo switch for yourself for Christmas.
Another Tip:
Some Baby Pokémon may be more rare than their evolutions.
Just breed a Ditto and the evolution Pokémon and you'll get an egg with the baby Pokémon, you couldn't find.
That's pretty much a lazy trick I do, when I know I can't find some Pokémon anywhere unless there is a certain weather or sth..

I'm half way through the story and near the start when you get the wild area I did loads of raids and evolved my scorbunny all the way to cinder ace in like an hour with the help of candies
Try catching Pokemon as you go in the game. Also always have 6 Pokemon in your party so you can evolve them and constantly get new Pokemon
when i got to Wyndon i bought 100 quick balls, i get as many as possible in all Pokemon games
Not fast but efficient, while I breed eggs in the wild area I'm also trading so its like, egg hatch-get egg-trade-repeat

What you need in order to complete Pokedex:
-Pokémon SW or SH
-Pokémon HOME mobile version
-some $ for pokeball +
-Pokémon Let's Go (Its to do it faster don't need it)
If your in a certain version and you need fossils from the other versions, go to the digging duo and constantly ask them to dig for you and make sure you have A LOT of watts because each trip is 500 watts

Tip for others: just save up in-game money and buy all the ultra balls you can get and keep doing the loto-id, I think you can get a master ball. I’m just spamming exp candies and evolution stones to evolve pokemon. I just need the other starters, Zacian, sword exclusives, and some extras that are hard to find)
Patterz: there's actually a way to change the weather really really fast.
Me: I can name 2. Solution 1 get a job at gamefreak and code it to be a certain weather. Solution 2 become smarter than anyone ever and build a time machine
Tips from me
1 - if you have a evolution but not pre evolution breed with ditto to get them
2- if you have a lot of pokemon that will evolve naturally farm raids to get xp candies to evolve them
Hey, if anyone's struggling to get Zamazenta/Zacien. do link trades! Pop up your versions legendary and keep exiting if they aren't willing to change to the other. That's how I got most of the exclusive mons & a masuda ditto
Have a sibling who has the opposite game. LOL in all seriousness, Quick Balls are a godsend.
The Quick Balls in these games actually work lol.
Quick balls + catching charm makes filling the dex so much faster
Trade away version exclusizes you don't need. If someone who has the other version really needed that pokemon, you can really make somebody's day.
hey if you saw this after pokemon home came out and have both games use pokemon home and i can use quick balls because i doing a pokelocke you can only use pokeballs for catching and i got them all in a pokemon even legendary
