  • So... I challenged myself to make an animatic in a short span of time and this happened ( I freehand this, no thumbnail skecthes). I don't like how it turned out, so I'll probably redo this 👍👍 (* ̄3 ̄)╭
    Ik how messy my sketch can be but damn i need to redraw some frames many times because of how messy it looks :) tho at the end i kinda give up. (∪.∪ )...zzz

      If I recall correctly, Circe is a goddess, and in ancient plays all actors who played gods had to wear a kind of heels to appear taller, so it was probably a belief that gods were taller. So yeah, Athena, Hermes, Circe and all the divine gang should be taller than the mortals.

      My thoughts exactly. It's like he doesn't want to cheat on his wife and he doesn't want to abandon his men but he's not being given an option that doesn't betray his principals in some way. So he's being forced into doing something he most definitely doesn't want to with her to try and save as many people as he can. The man is miserable.

    There are other ways of persuasion
    There are other modes of control
    There are other means of deceit
    There are other roads to the soul
    There are other actions of passion
    You have so much left to learn
    Want to save your men from the fire?
    Show me that you're willing to burn, woah
    [ODYSSEUS, CIRCE]
    Who's to say, with the mistakes I've made,/ Don't be afraid
    That they will be thе last/ Think of your past
    Mistakes I ever makе?/ Don't break when
    [BOTH]
    There is so much power, so much power
    But there's no puppet here, here
    [CIRCE, ODYSSEUS]
    This is the price we pay to love/ I'm just a man
    There is no line ever enough/ I'm just a man
    So much power, so much power/ Forgive me
    But there's no puppet here

    Ahh! Fantastic job! Gonna just list out things I love! Love how even with his sword away he's VERY on edge. Pushing her off and recoiling to her touch, his expression definitely says "No."
    I don't know if when you have the color change from purple to yellow that's supposed to be a spell?? But I'm gonna assume it is with also how his eyes light up and his behavior afterward that that's the case. Odysseus seems to be more "compliant" (messed up but that IS the situation) as he's not fighting her off like he did before, no longer shoving her back and letting her move him as she pleases.
    And gosh him on his knees with that defeated look at the end, I just wanna toss the poor man back to Ithaca to his wife and son this INSTANT! Again wonderful job on this!

    According to Homer, the Trojan War lasted 10-years. “The Iliad” recounts the tenth year. “The Odyssey” covers another 10 years. Therefore, Odysseus was away from Ithaca (and his wife) for 20 total years. 12 Long Years here is perfectly accurate, if you consider his Journey up until this point has taken about 2 years from when he left Troy. Later on he will be trapped with Calypso for 7-years, leaving 1 final year for the remaining events before he returns home.

    I just realized it's not really Ody's fault for cheating on Penelope. Don't get me wrong, I hate cheaters, but imagine how lonely he felt throughout the years of pain and war. He didn't have his wife to emotionally support him. Allowing himself to develop infatuation for Circe was a temporary pain reliever so he doesn't feel so alone. When thinking of it, it's human nature to take the easy way. Can't blame Ody for something most of us would have done even if we don't admit it. (Also Penelope is a smart, cunning, and powerful woman and that is what made Odysseus fall for her. Circe probably reminded Odysseus of Penelope.)

      @AthyBunni 11 місяців тому +14

      @@alisonoconnor6864 Circe only did that so she could protect her nymphs because Odysseus was about to kill her. Plus in the myths, Odysseus did grow feelings for Circe, and back then it was an acceptable thing to do because men would often have mistresses. However, he did not love her he just cared for her. That is why I say infatuation because it was in the heat of the moment for Odysseus ^^

      dude still got raped, he was practically forced to do it, not to mention, Circe basically forced him to do it, while he could have hurt her nymphs, they could have both resolved it peacefully by just making a deal, and just not interacting, but Circe chose to do that. That’s my opinion at least.

    • @AthyBunni
      @AthyBunni 10 місяців тому +1

      @@scrunglodubus1701 Ancient Greece was very different from this current era. All Circe saw was; okay so this guy is gonna kill my nymphs, but I have his men turned into pigs. No guarantee that he will leave my nymphs alone if I turn them back because then we will be outnumbered. Solution? Guess I'll just seduce him and say in exchange for his men he has to secure connections with me(through intercourse) and then leave each other alone.
      That's just how I see it 🤷‍♀️

    • @MySchoolProject15
      @MySchoolProject15 8 місяців тому +27

      @@scrunglodubus1701 It's interesting because, at least in this version of the story, we the audience can see that there *is* a peaceful solution here. Circe changes the men back into humans and Odysseus leaves with them. No harm no foul.
      But we can also see why Circe and Odysseus *don't* see it that way. Both of them have been fighting for survival and to protect the people dependent on them for so long that they assume any outsiders they meet are evil and out to get them. Circe's clearly thinking that the only way to appease this violent strange man who has showed up on her island of women is to sleep with him and send him on his way (like other adventurers who've landed there before), so she seduces him. Odysseus is clearly thinking that the only way to appease this violent trickster goddess and get her to give him his men back is to sleep with her (like Calypso), so he gives into the seduction.
      Instead of taking the peaceful path, they treat the other like threats and their interaction like a duel where one has to conquer the other-not because they want to be evil people, but because they both assume the other person must be evil, given their experiences of the world so far. Hurt people, hurt people.
