    Needle nose pliers really saved the day here popping these clips.
    Watched your video, and was done in about 30 min in the rain.
    Had to keep going back and making sure I had the right wires before clamping the splicers.
    But overall super easy to do with this video.
    Thanks for posting. Wife loves her side markers.

    I used my wife’s jewelers 90 degree needle nose pliers to pinch the clips. Worked like a charm. You can get them at a Michael’s or Hobby Lobby for cheap.

    You should grab some split loom to clean it up

    Do you have to strip the wires before you use the quick splice or can you just attach it as they are?

    Love the idea, (probably should be this way from the factory). !Looking at you Ford! Wishing their were other options, the factory parts on the outer banks and my badlands are color coded, and these are too basic looking, and would look out of place.

    Are these using the DRL or just the headlights when on??

    I found this very helpful. Thanks so much. 🙂
    Did have one issue: the passenger white light is working but the driver white is not. All the blinkers work, as do all the rest of my lights. The red-brown/blue connection looks good.
    Do you know what might be causing the problem with the driver white light?

    • @mcdudevids
      @mcdudevids  Рік тому

      My best guess would be the wire connection is not correct, the splitter did not form a good connection between the wires, or there is a defect in the running light wire from the product. Could possibly from the grounding wire, I'm not sure

    How do you get the plug and play connectors that come on the amber only version onto the side marker lights only? Don't want them as blinkers.

    • @chrisbowe4238
      @chrisbowe4238 4 місяці тому +1

      Don't quote me, hopefully you've already figured it out, but I would assume they connect to the daytime running light wire. That would feed a constant current to the side marker.

    I guess I’m having issues with the slicing. Should I use a specific type?

    • @chrisbowe4238
      @chrisbowe4238 4 місяці тому +1

      First time I've used what he's using and worked fine.
      Dorman 22-18 Guage quick splice.
      Put one wire in one groove, the other in the other groove, use pliers and clamp down the metal splicer. Fold plastic over and secure.

    How remove plastic factory trim ? Is really hard tried but worried about brake or scratches

    • @mcdudevids
      @mcdudevids  Рік тому

      There are a couple clips on each trim piece. You have to press both sides of the clip to undo it from the metal connector. If you order the DZG side lights its the exact same layout of clips. You can get an idea of how it looks and works using that, although the DZG/Techico clips are a little harder to manipulate. You shouldnt be able to break the trim or the metal on the car. I put quite a bit of force into removing it, but be careful about not scratching paint. I recommend plastic tools as they are less likely to scratch paint compared to metal tools. The removal is not hard, but it does take time and patience

    Trying to follow your instructions but instead of the yellow wire that you have I was given a black wire (-) installation guide says “connect tot he iron part of the car. I’ve got Red(+) connecting to the turn signal light.

    • @mcdudevids
      @mcdudevids  Рік тому

      Hm very odd. Normally black is a ground wire. I hope they did not change the wire colors in the package. It could also be the brand of the side marker maker. The black wire is almost always a ground connector. I had that connected to the ground wire on the headlight (black-purple stripe connected to black-green stripe wire). Red should be the daylight running lights wire. Yellow should be the turning signal wire. I have a segment at 4:35 for the driver side and then 5:48 for the passenger side. Apologies if my explanations are not great

    • @petertrznadel8107

      @@mcdudevidsthere’s another version that does only yellow turn light, so only two wires red and black, red for the turn light and black for ground.

      the passenger side works fine but no running light (white) on the driver's side. Dim or a faint flicker at best. Would that be the red to brown connection?

    Help please. My kit came with no instructions at all and I see a lot of people seem to have gotten the same kit I have which only has two wires. A black and a red wire. Does anyone know how to connect these two wires to the front light wires? Which does the red wire connect to and which does the black connect to?

    • @TotallyAHumanNotADog
      @TotallyAHumanNotADog Рік тому +2

      Pretend your red wire is his yellow wire and connect it the same ones he mentioned. Ignore his red wire and those connections. I also bought the same kit as you and this worked.

    Will doing this void my ford warranty ?

    • @barrykelly2722
      @barrykelly2722 Рік тому

      I asked a ford sales representative and was told it wouldn't void warranty. However it would be good to check with dealership first

    • @Sktzo
      @Sktzo 5 місяців тому +1

      No. The Magnusson-Moss act makes it so that if a manufacturer wants to void the warranty, they have to prove the modification was the cause of the failure. Even then, it's for that part only and not the entire warranty.

    • @mcdudevids
      @mcdudevids  Рік тому

      There were a couple guides online that were not great at explaining which wires go to which. But I used those online guides, the little paper given in the package, and some prior knowledge along with a buddy to figure out what goes to what. So this was for sure not my discovery alone, I was just trying to make it easier to understand.
