On January 20th, 2012, Roland hosted the final showdown of its first-ever V-Drums World Championship. Held at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California, the event coincided with the 2012 Winter NAMM Show and attracted an enthusiastic crowd of nearly 700.
All the way from Norway, Board Cawlslad.
thats his name
@Chaim Gibson you're the same person.
I have seen this kids street performances and this kid is talented. He makes amazing beats and flawless. Glad I ran up on this vid
I saw him play with Leprous last night in NYC. Savage.
Well deserved win, that beat was sick !
ngl he should play in some sort of progressive band
DJables he does actually
@@kaam0s it's a joke
Sorry, JP people, but this is a level above JP. All of these guys can't really do melody or grooves for crap, but the beat was savage and Baard was going a million miles an hour. I think he clearly beat JP. I agree that just playing over a crappy backing track was less than impressive, but this beat was crazy!
na i dont agree at all
He was playing over a loop he made so it is not so impressive.
jp put on a show not some lame drum solo. have u not seen berklee chops. jp could easily murdered this guy on chops alone. but he decided to capture the actual point of the contest.
iNK But the loops are part of v-drums, it is not just about the drumming this contest, it is about who uses v-drums best/... i think . :) That is a bit different....
dude, you suck at commenting...
How do you get qualified to a competition like this..? I'm from Norway aswell as Baard :)
amazing
soooooooo cool man this guys is awesome
Does ANYONE know what kit he was using in the beginning????? Snare was so tasty.
I think he said in an interview that he used "kit 15" all the way.
Calling me an idiot under these circumstances would be very wrong. you see, at the time when i wrote the comment above there was a bunch of people that thought that bieber was "The greatest drummer that ever lived", it has been the same with people going around saying that travis barker is a real good drummer. when i saw the initials "jb" i thought of habbit that it was a newb that needed to be straightened up. so pardon the misunderstanding and any inconvenience it may have caused.
Use Dax!!!
Incredible skilled, but the samples are a bit too loud , vdrums sounds like a submarine...
very good !!
Leprous was lucky to have him
Agreed. But it's JP * not JB :P
daaammmmmmmm
did u mean bieber with that jb thing, because thats what i ment
Use Dax!!!
I think he meant JP Bouvet..
que weno
it would be so nice to hear somone ply these drums with musicality and less speed.
+justin odowd Well hes in a black/folk metal and sooooo.... hes no stranger to speed.
I agree with Laderrick, The snare was so tasty, I liked the beats also.
I'm kinda shocked that this won?
1) Maybe it was because the v-drums shorted like they did for go-go ray awhile back and he got a 'win by default' for being able to come up with a jam on the spot.
2) Or it could have been like the drum off where Isaias Gil won because his was the only 'different' solo and everyone else kinda played the exact same way. . .
A lot of odd things happen during drum solo competitions since everyone has different opinions of what a drum solo should be.
trippy shirt
The octopas destroyed the groove
hmmmmm..not his best, way to chaotic..He is never the less an outstanding drummer,I've watched a lot of his stuff and he's very very good!.
what jb is "showing off" is basic fills and stuff, baard know what he is doing. a good drummer can mix generes to create the best possible end result, what jb is doing is taking the same "grove" everytime and placing basic stuff over it, its not impressive.
Use Dax!!
Explosive.
I think this became so much so fast it just turned into noise. Who are the judges?
The skills are amazing but I don't like this video.
Wow these drums sound terrible
Acoustic or bust! There is a reason you only see this gear at your local neighborhood bars.
nö
i dont care for jp cus i feel like he is arrogant but to he honest JP should have won this competition by FAR
Jim Bowbe he's not, trust me
it sounded mostly like looping to me too. in terms of groove and coordination, jp won by a mile. i have no idea why baard is in the first place. not saying that he's not good or anything but i thought that some of the other drummers are much more impressive in terms of techniques.
Board
From 2:04 to 3:10 it's just inaudible.. A massacre.
Drums dont desserve to be fast and cacophonous all time...
+Manu Alteirac Thats because you can't hear it. This is why metal drummers use triggers. They hit so fast its unintelligible acoustically.
Manu Alteirac best part imo
i am too gay. my name ist tugay
no? are you deaf or something?
So he solos over a prerecorded beat for 5 minutes and wins? Not trying to be a dick, but JP solo'd over a clave...
This won first... wtf.. I'm not ripping on this guy, but come on.
Drums are a pretty fucking dull solo instrument. Besides, these solo drummers never bring anything new to the table. 4/4 and some impressive double- strokes. Wow.
Lol, that kid couldn't even last a second in this competition.
worst judge ever
Worst playing solo ever xD
