Notice at 3:56 when she decides not to go through with attempting to hit that really high whistle note...the backup singer next to her kind of smiles as if to say "good decision girl, and we got em next time." lol!
Well the whistle note in that part of the song actually isnt on the studio version, she did it on the fly at the snl rehearsal. He probably just liked the run. (If snl happened before this which , I’m actually not sure if it did, then he probably did think it was a good choice not to go for it)
Mariah and the backing vocals are amazing. But, man, this pianist is pushing all the music forward. What a harmonic and rhythmic support he is delivering for Mariah and her backing vocals!
The legendary Richard Tee on keys, an incredible talent who is far too underspoken. He worked with so many big names such as Paul Simon, Billy Joel and Chaka Khan to name a very few, gone far too soon unfortunately. RIP Mr Tee

It seems like she basically cut the backup singers off after halfway through. They just weren't cutting it for her. HAHA! They just stood there letting her do her thing. That's not how they did it in the rehearsal, and the mean eye she gave them a few times just shows how in control she is.

Probably 1993 or 1995 her voice changed. Here it's so deep and soulful and then she got girlY and then in 1997 she started with the whispery voice and very soft then she started going a bit weak in the early 2000's and later on just started singing about touching body's and being obsessed...
