    Very much a hands on King and people are really appreciating it. He has started very well on an almost impossible job of succeeding his Mother.
    God bless her.
    I think he will do us proud.

      @@garyarmstrong9542 Some American friends watched the late Queen's address to the Commonwealth during COVID and they all said basically the same thing: They have no one to pull people together, to give them reassurance and show confidence in the future because everything and everyone is so highly politicised.
      I truly believe that having a Monarch who never ever steps into politics gives them a credibility hard for anyone else to achieve. And people forget the Monarch is our last bastion against tyrannical government as he / she can dissolve Parliament at any time and hand power back to the people in a General Election. Of course here, unlike in the USA, a General Election means all 650 MPs of the House of Commons, our one elected chamber, stands for re-election. It is pretty brutal and we change Governments in 24 hours.
      It all works because the Monarchy is the keystone of our democracy but it is entirely non political.

      The King wearing a kilt, too! The first time ever that I've seen this (it may have happened a few times before, but Iäm not British so I haven't had a reason to look out for it in old pictures). King Charles has made a very good start, I think he's often been underrated in the past by the media - he is really showing a good touch and the ability of the monarchy to unite the country. The contrast with the new PM is abysmal...

    Amazing story. The “Terps” were so vital to our security. 🇨🇦 Veteran CC AVGP

    • @L5GUK
      @L5GUK Рік тому +1

      So why is there more examples of us leaving them out to dry and for the Talib than supporting them?
      What makes these Terps special that they get to meet the King? Why doesn't the King meet with all the Terps?
      Because this is a false pallitude designed to simply virtue signal to those that don't care/know/or scratch benieth the surface to the actual reality.
      'But the King went to see some interpreters, so therefore it's proof that we care!'
      Disgracefull. Dishonest.

    In English it's pronounced 'Key'ev' not 'Keeev' - do you call Rome Roma?? No.

      In English pronouncing it Key'ev was mostly because when we used to talk about it it was when the USSR still existed, and the expected language when dealing with Soviet officials was Russian.
      Since we're now having relations with Ukraine itself who's official language is Ukrainian, it was polite to adjust our pronunciation of Kyiv to match how it's actually pronounced in Ukrainian instead of just defaulting to Russian.
      Personally I'd like more people to call Snowdonia Eryri.

      But what is important and relevant about that, what matters is that my country welcomed these people and gave them an opportunity to remake their lives! Without the support of the British royal family, who does nothing but go for walks, cut ribbons, do charity work with other people's money, visit many institutions do to show that they do a lot, do model runs, with couture clothes, and valuable jewelry that helped many, many Brits!
