It used to be a great place to live , holiday makers went back to the mainland at the end of the season , locals could afford housing which was cheap enough to buy since wages were smaller, trsffic was less , adequate hospitals and doctors , now with preditory development of houses locals can't afford, mass migration from the mainland where housing is purchased as second homes, holiday homes or for those that just thought it might be nice to retire to the island.
Born and bred on the Island use to live near Carisbrooke Castle, use to be our play ground in the late 1960s still love the Island and always will, i love the walk from Newport to Sandown on a nice sunny day along the old railway track now a cycle way, glad you enjoyed your stay
I live on the island and some places I feel you missed we're Osbourne house, West wight alpacas, the garlic farm, military road and Firestone copse, but those are just my favourite places not necessarily everyone else's. Other than that great video and loved the explanations
Wow. My friend and I are holidaying at the Isle of Wight for the first time this July 30th fro a week. Seeing all the different things to visit, we are both really excited and are looking forward to it so much. I believe its Cowes week so can't wait to see this in all its glory. You video is great, very informative. Thankyou Linda & Caryll. X😊
I was born and lived on the Isle of Wight for the first 20 years of my life in Cowes on the northernmost point. It is pretty small only 100miles of coastline. 12 miles from north to south and about 26 miles east to west. It’s a beautiful place and Blackgang Chine was a favourite trip for us when we were little although the Speedy coastal erosion means that most of the park we knew and loved has long since fallen into the sea. I know they have relocated further back but its days are numbered.
Osborne House, Wildheart Trust (formerly known as the Isle of Wight Zoo), Donkey Sanctuary, Godshill and Isle of Wight Pearl are just a few of the places missing from the video - or for inclusion in another one.
Loved your video ( did you see my uncles motorhome on Ryde seafront in the back ground of your video right were you stopped 😊) SEAVIEW next to Ryde is also very beautiful and also fort Victoria which is near Yarmouth or Yarmouth country park😊 I think you would love Symonds yat and the why valley absolutely stunning place & places 😊
Just back from isle of wight. Too expensive. They could consider changing the name to : oh look there's a tourist, how much can l rip them off for. Pity, but l won't be back. Shanklin and sanddown are dumps.

Wonderful video of the Island, sadly Robin hill has now closed down

Blackgang chine is literally the main attraction of the island. Best memories there.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! Which city/location would you like us to cover next?
I used live on the Isle of Wight and loved it but now live in New Zealand

This looks like a fun place to visit! There is an 80s jazz-funk-pop band from the Isle of Wight called Level 42.

I use to live and born in the island and this interesting video is great.

Isle of Wight is not considered a country... Wtf are you on about? It's a county of England
The best thing to do on the Isle of Wight is not to bother to go there at all.
It's a county... Not a country
