In this video I plink around with the new Zenith ZF-5, an American made MP5 clone. I shoot it suppressed, unsuppressed, with super sonics and subsonic. This thing is just a ton of fun and soft shooting in all circumstances. However, with my Rugged Obsidian 45 and HUSH 9mm subs, it's absolutely ridiculous. Love me some roller delayed goodness!
The problem with SP5 clones is that they are all unfathomably expensive, for what should be, at this point, a well democratized range toy. I mean, if we can get quality ARs for $1500 these days, we should be able to have an SP5 clone for $1500 too. That doesn't mean they aren't good guns, but every new clone that comes out is in the same ball park ~$2500, as is this one, when I would expect competition to drive the prices down.
One problem is that all MP5 colons that are made are made under license from H&K what makes it for one more expensive, over thing is that the roller locking mechanism is more difficult to produce than a simple blowback locking in a AR-9 for what you need very expensive machinery.
you can get century arms AP5 that are made on the same H&K tooling at MKE Turkey as the previous Zeniths, they are running as low as $1300-1400 with the $200 rebate. Been running my AP5 suppressed unsupressed with no issues.
@@ForTehNguyen not sure where to actually buy an AP5 for that money. They are $1800 or so on gun broker. Still you are correct, that's more reasonable.
@@letsgobrandon416 the B&T APC is not worth it from what I have heard the magazines from them are very very finicky but it does have modern features. If you are looking for a sub $1800 sub gun the scorpion evo 1 is the way to go, don’t go for the micro it’s way too small and very little accessories you can add compared to the evo 1, magazines are relatively extremely reliable and magpul even makes them. I’m late watching this but to everyone complaining about the pricing you can get a PTR or the MKE for 1100-1500 from Atlantic firearms. At the end of the day they’re all MP5’s if you ask me. PTR is also American made so no need to pay extra for the zenith
Great video, but what I'm seeing is with the Zenith is double feeds, and rounds stovepiping and casings being blownout on the end. Is this an ammo thing? Or a roller pin bolt issue? Using 9mm 115 grain round.
@@tylerprovencio4045 I own one and it isn't worth a fuck, and now Zenith is saying I have to buy a case, put it in a box and send it back to them. Oh yeah and to find an FFL and pay that guy to send the POS back. 3 grand down the drain. Should have bought a real H&K.

Why would you pay $2400 for an HK clone when you can get the real thing for a couple hundred more? Like buying a Toyota instead of a Ferrari to save $1,000....

Does the full size (8.9” barrel) keep subs subsonic though?
did you need to change the stock 3 lug adapter that came with the ZF5 to the rugged 3 lug adapter?
The prices have come down since this video was dropped. Great review.
