Dragon's Dogma 2 is an action role-playing game played from a third-person perspective. In the game, the player takes on the role of a character called the "Arisen", a hero marked by a dragon whom they must defeat. The player explores the world they live in, taking on quests, and fighting monsters, while being caught up in a geopolitical conflict between two kingdoms. To assist in this, the Arisen relies on allies called "Pawns", non-playable characters who join the player's party. These characters are AI-controlled, but function like player-controlled avatars, able to assist in fights, provide information on enemies, and give guidance to currently active quests. Players can each create and customize their avatar and their own Pawn character with different genders, appearances, and race. In addition, players can recruit two additional Pawns that have been created by other players.
Both the Arisen and Pawns each operate under a "vocation" - a class that defines what abilities and equipment they can use in combat, with different strengths and weaknesses. Vocations are split between basic, advanced and hybrid, the latter only accessible to the Arisen; furthermore, only the Arisen and their Pawn can change vocations. The game features several different vocations to choose from; several from Dragon's Dogma make a return in the sequel, whilst Strider and Ranger have been changed to Thief and Archer respectively. New hybrid vocations are included in the game, including Mystic Spearhand, a variation of Mystic Knight from the previous title, with characters able to utilize a bladed quarterstaff-like weapon called a duospear, and the Trickster, who uses spells that can confuse enemies and enhance Pawns in battle.[3] Working with vocations improves them, unlocking additional abilities that can be acquired for use in combat.
The game is set in a seamless open world that is four times larger than the map in the first game, and is a parallel world to that of the previous title. The game world is split between two major kingdoms, Vermund and Battahl, populated with humans, the catlike beastrens, and elves. Fast travel is available through ferrystones and oxcarts, with Dragon's Dogma 2 allowing players to set up camps at night at campsites around the game world. Emergent events may occur in the game, forcing players to react and adapt, such as making use of destructible environments to defeat enemies, with a day-night cycle that impacts what creatures are encountered and how strong they are. - Ігри
I would recommend to wait for a performance patch, it's got issues on both PS5 and PC. Be warned.
How does it compare to Elden Ring at launch?
@@nitinnishant7783Well Elden Ring at least had 60fps on console and the framerates weren't uncapped, so huge deviations in framerate wasn't as big a concern as it is in DD2.

It’s really not that bad, people need to stop hoping for literal perfection with every game. Theres gonna be bugs with big ass games like this, so we gotta be patient. Now, if we don’t get a fix, then anything after is warranted.

At least Stellar Blade runs at a decent framerate, and Stellar blades combat is much more fluid and smooth, dd2 is a clunky and slow mess

Is it always necessary to connect to the internet to play the game, or can we obtain the pawns from other players and play it offline afterwards?
You can easily play this game even offline, but the game will provide you randomly generated pawns to chose from rather than offer you other players pawns.

I enjoyed Rebirth but I actually enjoy this a lot more. I found myself to be bored with Rebirth at times - maybe I went into it with the wrong impression as I was expecting more story but I found the story didn’t really start until chapter 10 out of 14 and most of it was just minigames. Whereas with Dragon’s Dogma 2 yeah there isn’t much story, but I find the gameplay aspect to be more appealing and enjoyable.
It’s sad really but I think I’m one of the rare few that prefers Remake over Rebirth
Can you heal on the fly or is it like last game where you have to pause it to heal because that was a game breaker last game

In both games you can hot key curatives. In DDDA you select the item and then press triangle or X depending on your controller to assign it to left, right, up or down on your d-pad. In DD2 the best curative you currently have on you is automatically hot keyed to the up button.
Does this game lock online behind Capcom ID? I still can't get into SF6 online because the verification bugged.
No mention of any bugs or glitches, yet I find it hard to believe this won't have any.

Got my copies early on the 17th from Amazon, haven’t really had anything major in the way of bugs or glitch’s yet to fair, but what I will say is the performance is very poor on ps5, by far and away the worst aspect of the game, the night before last I was fighting quite a few goblins on the way back to re stock consumables at a local village ( as the fast travel is very limited in this game, another thing that is bugging me right now, cool at first but gets very tedious quickly) anyway on the way back to town while fighting the goblin gang I was then attacked by a Griffen, which sounds fantastic right? Apart from the fact the frame rate slowed so much the game was literally stuttering, honestly the uncapped 30 fps is not good and that’s being kind, even on the world map in normal battles it can slow to low 20’s fps, the highest it got for me is around 31 fps, I’m not an fps whore or anything either I just finished FF Rebirth in 30 fps mode and it was fine, but this games fps is BAD, very bad.
It sad we expect games to have bugs as if it should be normal.

DD2 looks amazing, but right now I just have too big a backlog to add a long RPG to my list, but I'll happily revisit this one in the future on some random Steam sale.

It's 60fps with a few dips according to Press Square review. Not a major concern for a masterpiece like this

Not everyone can afford a highend PC. But it's not unreasonable to expect the games that are released on their hardware to not drop below 30fps in 2023.

@pablodebella7695 yea true, but once u cast it and if the monster moves then u will wiff completely. It's more of a soft lock rather than and actual "lock on" tbf when I played the original it took me a little bit to get used to it. I just had to plan out my attacks instead of just casting willy-nilly. But ur not wrong, I played sorcerer so I definitely know what ur talking about

I have this game pre ordered and never played the first game. Hopefully, I'll like it, and it holds my attention and isn't too crazy for me to play. Can not wait for friday.
No fast travel option, but hard to find item to allow something like fast travel. They did it that way so they could sell you the items. You can now pay to revive dead characters. To bad they shadow dropped the microtransactions.
The first 5 min he has talked about gameplay that was also in the first Dragons dogma.

Yesterday I was exploring the ancient battlefield and found something unexpected. The exploration in this game is top tier.

Just finished it! 51 hours, level 50. What an amazing game! It should be nominated for game of the year.
you made me a huge expectation to this game, even thought the 30fps issue...
Was lucky enough to receive this game on the 17th from Amazon and I’m really enjoying it also, only played around 18 hours so far, they are things that I’m not enjoying however, one save slot doesn’t bother me personally, but the lack/expense of fast travel is really starting to annoy me at this point, as if you run out if consumables mid quest you have to trek back to the nearest town on foot, which for me got tedious very quickly, this could change as I get further into the game obviously, I actually really like the fact there is almost zero hand holding in the game, but I’m aware a lot of people don’t like this, the combat is hands down the best aspect of this game IMO it’s absolutely fantastic, the worst thing about this game is the performance it runs very poorly on ps5, unlocked 30fps the dips into the low 20’s during big battles it even stutters at times, all in all is it a GOTY contender? Maybe if the pc version was taken in isolation which obviously it won’t be, but from a ps5 owner’s perspective no definitely not in my opinion it’s to flawed in certain areas to warrant that, also FF Rebirth was definitely better overall and it’s not even close in my personal opinion, but it’s still a very good game I’d say it’s like an 8.5/10 so far, well worth giving a go if your on the fence.
Edit…… HA HA just checked and seems to be floating around 86-87 on meta on ps5, so I wasn’t to far of with my opinion.
I've been torn by what platform to take due to this issue, most PlayStation fanboys just cant accept there may be performance issues, so this is actually a really helpful review and enforced my decision to play on PC. I have no issues with consoles and some games I actually prefer to play on them, this genre would fall into that, I finished platinum on rebirth a week ago and it was the best experience I've had in gaming for years. I played on performance mode as the pace of the game in some of the later challenges, the higher fps is preferable to me.
I think it's just time for people to accept that PS5 is just outdated for these sorts of titles now and the rate the industry is moving, looking at ps5 pro specs I don't think that's necessarily gonna be the answer, next gen cant come soon enough. any mass asset open world AAA now is probs gonna be PC only for me.
I think the only immediate answer for devs on PS5 now is too implement the option of downscaling for fps improvement, much like square-enix did, it just works. It's 2024 30 fps with 60fps option should be the absolute minimum standard, expecting people to pay £50+ or $70+ and not even hitting 30 frames is robbery imo
@@BillyFinnimore honestly bro I’m Multiplatform, I play everywhere and it’s wonderful to have an unbiased disposition, the performance on ps5 is definitely sub par right now , but I must warn you pc people I know are having similar problems, I know guys with RTX 4090’s that are only getting 60 fps with drops below in villages and big fights, it seems the game is extremely CPU heavy rather then GPU heavy with what I’ve learned so far, so if PC gamers have a low to mid rig’s I very much doubt it’s going to run the game well at all to be fair, also Capcom don’t seem to have optimised it the best for any platform right now, I’ve now finished the main quest and I’m sticking with my 8.5/10, in all honesty the story was very mid at best, but I still think it’s a good game with a ton of replay value, is it a GOTY contender? No definitely not in my opinion as I’ve already played 3 games this year that are better in my book , but still definitely worth giving a go if your on the fence, 87 meta seems very fair and accurate to me, even know a lot are moaning on about it.
@@jonathanwaugh5378 Only just read this, apologies, but probably for the best as I've had a chance to put a decent a lot of hours in within that time, I actually can say I agree with pretty much everything you just said, I haven't finished story yet so cant give complete analysis, but what does work is great, that being said I've also played multiple better titles this year and this isn't game of the year for me, with the right updates I can see it getting nominated for best community support. I'm a huge fan of Capcom, most notably because of the early RE titles on PS1, so I want the best for them. I don't think this game has hit as hard as I thought it would, it's my fault for my expectations, it is a good game though that's for sure. I wouldn't go as high as 8.5 personally maybe 7.5-8
