The cheap ones leak too mine didn't last 500 miles. DO NOT USE THE AMAZON VALVE COVERS. You CAN service the plug seals you have to use a 2" hole saw and drill out the baffle inside and take them out to use the factory size grommets OR you can cut out the old seals with a dremel and use Honda k20 spark plug tube seals (2 per cylinder stacked on each other)
Replace with the Nissan valve cover, unless you are just flipping the car. I have done numerous times and if it's your vehicle or a customer you value the OEM is the best option.
I replaced mine with oem and it didn’t fix the leaking. I cut out the metal seals, bought Honda tube seals, and sealed it with gasket maker just like he said. IT WORKED. It’s been more than a year. The oem part I bought to fix it the first time only gave out within months.
You can actually replace these tube seals (with modification to the valve covers) or replace the entire valve cover(s) however it seems like you can just clean and seal the old seals and tubes using silicone or toyota seal packing and it should work just fine. Keep it simple.
They have a gap in the tube seals...they are still going to leak eventually because of a flaw design... You have to put some primatex in the Gap in order to stop it from leaking again so soon... Bottom line flaw design.....
By any chance we’re the tube seals the installed in the same direction? I just removed mine and they are in different directions ones flat and other showing the inner nipple? Lol
I have a high-mileage 2005 Nissan 4.0 that has been in two shops trying to diagnose a P0300. New plugs, a coil, PCV, intake manifold and head gasket. Running now but smokes heavily when I crank it in the morning and again when I leave from work. Same thing here perhaps?
@@mr.magick4185 Is there any way to change the PCV valve in 2004 Quest w/o taking the head cover. I had changed the back valve cover gasket, have done hundred of things and too tired to open the main cover to replace just the PCV Valve. Any video link or help. By the way front valve cover has a leak as well and I am about to give up due to this smoke. Engine runs just perfect. Can I use any glue to patch the cover. If can send me em houstonbn12@gmail.com.Thanks
I got a P0420 code out of mine, went to replace the spark plugs, and found oil in one of them. I am having a hard time finding a valve cover for a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. Has a 3.5L VQ35DE
ando dimeglio I have a 350z so I have to replace the whole valve and might as well do the gasket, but the ring on the valve is bad which is leaking oil into the well hope this helps
Joe Leal would recommend OEM maxima valve covers(upgraded tube seals & $30 cheaper than the 350z) or modify the covers to put new tube seals in. Left side will need modification if you go with the maxima covers.
No. Could cause some grief with the coil and spark quality though. Eventually, if the tube fills right up with oil, it could start leaking out over the valve cover and down onto the exhaust manifolds.
If a petrol car smokes on startup (white/ blue smoke) it is usually an indication that one or more valve guide seals are leaking. Expensive to replace depending on where you go.
What happens when replace the sensor as in cam sensors an crank sensor an instill had misfire cyl 3 an I change it all put everything back together an its saying on dash redlight with a key in it so its went into limp mode what do I do to fix it

They can be replaced it just takes some elbow grease and a different video.
Omg thank you. #6 spark plug has had oil leaking in it and I couldn’t find how to fix it! I have a 2017 pathfinder sl 3.5

What year Honda tube seals did u use?

You're wrong about them NOT selling the tube seals. I just picked up a set today for my 3.5L pathfinder
By any chance we’re the tube seals the installed in the same direction? I just removed mine and they are in different directions ones flat and other showing the inner nipple? Lol
Send me a link, where you bought them
I'm a huge fan of silicone

Did you find out the issue? I have similar symptoms with my '05 Murano.
Get rid of it with extreme prejudice

Do not recommend Amazon or cheap eBay branded value covers it’s too big of a job to use cheap stuff when your talking oil seal it with oem
The other day I changed my spark plugs and only one spark had oil on it does that mean I need to buy a new cover? Let me know thank you.
Yes, that means the spark plug tube seal is leaking and that is part of the valve cover.
@@FlatRateMechanic one more question do I need to buy a torque wrench
@@raidersGPKnorcal yes, you need to tighten to factory specs
@@ElCoralilloDeLaSierr ok thank you

Is that common on Nissans to not have the tube seals replaceable like that? Seems crazy.
No not usually it's just on this motor and believe Ford does it on a few of there engines it's pretty retarded though.

Did you check rockauto
I have oil in one of my spark plug wells at the bottom so not sure if I should replace the cover or gasket
3LK_ 93 I have the same issue. Did you find a solution?
ando dimeglio I have a 350z so I have to replace the whole valve and might as well do the gasket, but the ring on the valve is bad which is leaking oil into the well hope this helps
Both
Change the entire valve cover while your doing that do the coils and plugs as well

You can get out your parts you need then when your Nissan off of eBay that's where I get my parts for mine I have an 06 Nissan Murano sport
Would this cause the car to smoke on start ups?
No. Could cause some grief with the coil and spark quality though. Eventually, if the tube fills right up with oil, it could start leaking out over the valve cover and down onto the exhaust manifolds.

did I need to drain the oil out of the spark plug well before installing the new Valve cover and if so how?
Yes, I would try cleaning it out the bet you can. I use compressed air and a shop rag.
This isn't universal, my 2001 pathfinder has serviceable seals because the covers are aluminum.
What’s your opinion on APEX brand valve covers at rock auto
You forgot about the spark plug tubes
Nissan the crysler of Japan
Well that explains why I can’t find them

What if I need the back side cover isn't it different from the front side fit? For a nissan Murano 2005
Yes it is. The rear is a pain to get to
Its easy lowkey
What you mean they don't sell them fucking check without his own they sell them all day long for 3.5 and 4.0 Nissan motor
Al spark plug seals ate serviceable if you know what you are doing they pop out with a hammer n chisel.. Gotta love wanna be mechanics
You’re a fucking dumbass lmao.
You don’t know what you’re talking about man lmao
