+Benny not nitpicking to be a jerk. just pointing out. he actually screams "never". not "no". I just find never to be more absolute in resolve and therefore a more powerful reaction. just thought it might make the scene even better for you.
+NYNJ1974 I don't think anyone will argue that Duel of the Fates isn't awesome, but at the same time, part of the beauty of the original saber fights was how little music was involved. In so many, there was just silence. So when this part of the saber fight comes on, and the voices are wailing, and the harmonics are so dark...the intensity of the music is just brought out so much more because of the contrast.
Louis Ades Exactly. The ambience of the sound effects are what the scenes even more powerful and immersive. The soundtrack was the sound of the lightsabers. Kinda like old school car chases. The chase from Bullitt. The sound of the engines was the soundtrack. It made the scene much more engaging. And when the Music finally kicks in, it's all the more powerful.
"The shields are down! Commence attack on the Death Star's main reactor!" "We're on our way! Red group gold group all fighters follow me! Ha told you he'd do it!" "Hehehe"
I agree, this makes me so mad. The music is so incredible - first with the Emperor's male choir building up, and then Anakin getting his heroic Force theme back. Zero dialogue is needed here. Of all the special edition/post special edition changes this is the one I detest. (Most of them I either like, don't care, or just kind of roll my eyes at).
@@alanlabriola3810 I have the 2004 special edition, which doesn’t have Vader saying “No!” I remember back in 2011, when I first heard this, I thought it was some fan edit… until it was confirmed it wasn’t
That part with the male choir building strength starting at about 8:48 as all hope seems lost, and the Emperor is going to triumph...and then bam. At 9:09 we get an explosion of the Force theme. And not only that, but if I'm not mistaken (I've been doing an in depth rewatch of the movies focusing on the music)...this is the first time the Force theme has been applied to Anakin since Revenge of the Sith in such a heroic manner. I love how the music in part tells the story. I also think you can make a case for the choir in the 'Jedi's Fury' portion being basically the same concept (musically) as the choir in the Emperor's Theme and building up during this part, and representing the dark aspect of Luke's conflict in that scene.
That moment when the violins and the ghostly male voices come in at 5:02 is one the best in the score. As much as I enjoyed the light saber duels of the later modern films, this cue combined with Mark Hamil’s acting during the last duel in ROTJ gave som much emotional depth. You got the sense he was truly fighting for something more.
Anyone who has ever read the novelization of this film will know that it is AMAZING and does the movie so much justice. I love it. Episode VI is forever my favorite!
I think that that bit makes this the 2nd best piece Williams has ever composed, second only to the penitent man will pass from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. John Williams is the greatest composer of our time.
8:40 this truly was the death of Darth Vader, that tiny spark in his heart erupted into a great conflagration. He vanquished his demons, broke his chains and cast the shadow into the abyss.
Lol it seems like *everyone* was looking for that exact same piece I was where Vader says something to Luke about how if he wont turn to the dark side he could try w Leia, then Luke goes apeshit on Vader!! What's the title of that particular track anyway?
I was humming the Star Wars theme only today, and this came up on my live feed. It hadn't when I was searching other Star Wars stuff. Coincidence? Probably, because I was humming Kamen Ridee themes, too, and nothing related came up.
9:07 The exact moment Anakin broke through Vader's binds and cast his Emperor into the abyss. The Jedi he always wanted to be, his own flesh and blood and his master dared to try and extinguish that overwhelming flame in Luke.

Dynamic_ I dunno maybe he wouldn't be pissed after QG's death and he wouldn't beat Maul. Either two of them die or one of them. If Qui Gon's alive - Anakin learns about Dark Side from Qui Gon, who talks with him like father to son about drugs in our world - he explains why it's better to stick to the light. Qui Gon would let him rescue his mom and convice him that "Padme dying" dream is not true. He would the best Jedi in the galaxy and due to that - Palpatine would probably never rise and die of old age. If Obi would survive... Yeah, you probably know. But Obi1 is much more interesting character so, it's better this way c:

Beautiful

Possibly the darkest piece of Star Wars music, even more so than the Emperor's theme.
Mine too!
@@jvgreendarmok Yep totally agree. John Williams at his best. The track perfectly captures the struggle within Luke as he is tempted by the dark side.
Rewatching 1 through 6 to see that final battle and the music at 5:02 it's just too intense. It's the same level of goosebumps everytime.
Agree !
