Thanks for an awesome video, Eric! I'd just like to point out that in the bonus trap (5:36) Kd2 is not "the only way to protect the e pawn". White can also play Qf4 and black is worse (according to the engine).
You're honestly the only channel I still watch chess on, just haven't been into it much recently but these are always the best kinda videos imo👍 Edit - 0:33 "and you say hehehe, at this point your opponent will probably resign due to your evil laugh"😂😂😂
5:35 actually there's a way to defend the pawn for white and it is Qf4 offering a queen trade, wich black sould refute and keep attacking with Qb5 or something...
@@nasanerdv in this case white bas Kd2 defending everything and you don't have Nh2 with the fork anymore 😥 thats the best line for white in this variations and he retains advantage
@@Daniele.Rossini Hmmm true. After Kd2 Qb4, Nc3 Qxb2 black is at least winning the b2 pawn, but then gets the run around. I wonder what the engine thinks about that, haha.
Sweet! I managed to reach a reverse Stafford gambit position with White from the Bishop's opening. People seem to expect it from Black, but I caught my opponent slipping, with the table turned. So fun.
I'm proud to say that more than 30% of my wins as Black has been through Stafford gambit, or forcing a transpose to a similar position as Stafford (all thanks to Eric Rosen) 👍🏻
@@dreamchess679 not yet but i'm working on a mega project about the Stafford and i want to collab with Eric on it! Stay tuned my friend! (Even if Eric doesn't join me i'll still post here my project when its done!)
I was playing caro kan for a some time and its always long hard games with lot of thinking this is something that i like more its opet agressive and fun you just trasfered me to stafford gambit
Can you cover the Zaitsev “Gambit” in the Grünfeld Defense? It’s not covered anywhere I looked and stockfish doesn’t think its bad (0.0 line but very hard to find) and lastly it WILL take your opponents by surprise. Imagine playing 3…d5 and then your opponent plays 4.h4
It was all happening too quickly for me so I watched it at half speed. I would imagine this is exactly what Eric sounds like after a really good night on the town.
After the Stafford knight gambit is accepted, I know there are lines if white then plays d3, e5, Nc3, f3, and Bc4. But if white plays Bd3 is there a line? Thanks!
@@Tatoogen Yeah, you don't take the bishop because white is paralyzed. The lines are too hard to show within 5 minutes :P. Apparently, the only move that gives black big advantage after 1. Bf3 is 1... Be6 because after 2. d4 there is Bc4 and gg. The plan is 1... Be6 2... 0-0-0 3... R8h8 4... R8h3. You just have to play very good chess i.e. 1. Bf3 Be6 2. Qe1 Qh3 and if 2. Ne2 Qh4 (if you play 2... Qh3 then 3. Nf4 and you're lost, so yeah, pretty damn hard). There is no easy win after 1. Bf3 and you can easily lose i.e. the guy above lost it after the 1st move.
I'm totally enthusiastic, because I've just watched episode S5E7 "Overkill" of the show "Elementary". Can someone confirm, that Sherlock Holmes played exactly Stafford Gambit Trap #1 against Shinwell Johnson? Not every move was visible, but I'm pretty sure, it was this trap... ;-)
I like that not only he shows the moves, but also what to say in each scenario to the opponent. That is brilliant!
The "Rosen trap" and Stafford's Gambit are Eric's gift to the modern chess game . 🙂 . Also "there is a funny line" and "oh no my queen " .
and disco pork
The Rosen Trap is his invention, so he legitimately contributed to online chess theory in this manner.
Let's not forget the pawn cube
At 1:17 sec of your video you said white’s best move is d4 and then you play queen h4, is there a trap if he plays bishop e3? Thanks.
Yeah but you will never see a gm play the Stafford Gambit in a serious game
Thanks!
Haven’t played a game in almost 2 months until last night. First game, I got the oh no my queen Stafford trap and I’ve never been so happy

Really nice and helpful Eric! Would be great if you could cover other traps with different openings as this one was incredibly helpful
5:35 actually there's a way to defend the pawn for white and it is Qf4 offering a queen trade, wich black sould refute and keep attacking with Qb5 or something...
I would probably consider Qc5, attacking the e3 and c2 pawns, and winning a piece or checkmating if white doesn't play carefully.

where do you practice? listudy doesn't have all the lines.

plenty of gambits there as well

On the bonus trap....if the King covers the pawn on the square behind the Queen,,,,move the Bishop to take the Queen by pin.
